Should you hunt in Colorado this year, was the winter kill really bad, or is it the same as it has always been? In this episode of Let's Assess I talk about what I have seen so far when it comes to the number of animals there are compared to previous years. This is specific to Northwest Colorado. This is my opinion! To find the most current information on elk populations in Colorado after a bad winter, I recommend checking the website of the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Department or contacting them directly. They may have reports and data on elk populations and the effects of recent weather events on wildlife in the state.

Use time management techniques: Techniques like the Pomodoro Technique can be effective in combating procrastination. Hunting monster deer: If you're interested in hunting big deer, there are several factors to consider. Here are some tips to help you in your pursuit: Research and Scout: Before heading out, gather information about the area you plan to hunt. Look for regions known for large deer populations and check for any specific regulations or restrictions. Spend time scouting the area to identify deer trails, feeding areas, and bedding grounds. This knowledge will increase your chances of encountering big deer. Choose the Right Weapon: Select a weapon that you are comfortable and proficient with, whether it's a rifle, bow, or crossbow. Practice regularly to improve your accuracy and ensure ethical shots. Study Deer Behavior: Understanding deer behavior is crucial. Learn about their feeding patterns, movement during different times of the day, and the rutting season. This knowledge will help you anticipate their movements and position yourself accordingly. Concealment and Scent Control: Deer have keen senses, especially their sense of smell. Use scent control products and take measures to minimize your scent, such as using scent-free soap and clothing. Additionally, wear camouflage that matches the environment to blend in and stay hidden. Optimize Your Stand Placement: Choose strategic locations for your tree stand or ground blind. Look for areas with clear shooting lanes, proximity to deer trails, and natural features like funnels or pinch points that force deer to pass through specific areas. Additionally, deer scents like doe estrus can be used to lure in bucks during the breeding season. Hunt During Peak Activity Times: Deer are most active during the early morning and late afternoon. Plan your hunts around these peak activity times to increase your chances of encountering big deer. Be Patient and Still: Hunting requires patience. Once you've found a promising spot, stay still and remain patient. Avoid sudden movements and minimize noise. Remember, deer have excellent hearing and can easily be spooked.
