Now it’s time to put it all together and actually have a conversation. In the Season 1 finale, you’ll use the everyday Afrikaans you’ve learnt throughout the series to talk about yourself, where you’re from, the languages you speak, your daily routine, your free time, your weekend and the people in your life. You’ll also practise simple ways to make a conversation feel more natural, including:
The episode starts with a natural model conversation and then helps you practise giving slightly longer answers, asking questions back and staying in the conversation when you don’t understand something or can’t remember a word. You’ll then work through a supported conversation before taking part in the final challenge: a guided conversation of about three minutes, using only Afrikaans. This isn’t a grammar test and you don’t need perfect Afrikaans. The goal is to answer, add a little more when you can, ask something back and keep the conversation moving. By the end of the episode, you’ll be able to look back at Season 1 and hear just how much more Afrikaans you can actually use. Presented by Nerika from Lexorial.
