Forging new paths, Snehal has build an incredible career as a director and producer and continues to expand the reach of the East West Players to critical acclaim, always staying true to his values and personal brand.

S5E11 : Interactivity Leads The Way : Jon Dakss : Founder and CEO, Palladium Consulting25 Apr 202400:54:16

This week, Jayzen dives into a crucial aspect of your branding: defining your Tailwind Brand Attributes. That is, those adjectives or descriptors that define the unique feel of your brand. Tune is to learn all about Jayzen’s three step process to start and lead with your three attributes that best reflect your brand.

First: Reflect on your unique throughlines and core values. These are the threads that have woven through your life experiences, shaping who you are today. Think about the moments, activities, or values that have consistently resonated with you. What principles do you hold dear? What drives you?

Next: Identify your unique strengths and desired perception. What are you naturally good at, and what sets you apart from others? How do you want others to see you? Your brand words should reflect both your strengths and the impression you want to leave.

Finally: Test for resonance. Is it going to stick? Once you've identified potential brand words, bounce them off trusted friends, colleagues, or mentors. Do these words accurately capture who you are? Do they resonate with others?

Jayzen is thrilled to welcome his long time friend and colleague, Jon Dakss to the show.  Jon is a talented technologist and was one of  the the original pioneers in interactive video and inventor of nearly 40 video-related patents. This week, Jayzen shares his best lessons on something that's crucial for advancing your career: being bold and putting yourself out there!  It’s about extending myself to others and being open to possibilities that you may not even know are out  there.  Tune in to learn Jayzen’s three actionable steps you can take to be bold and put yourself out there and take advantage of the opportunities that come your way.

Step one: Embrace Your Uniqueness. Your unique blend of skills, experiences, and personality traits is what sets you apart from the crowd. So, instead of trying to fit into a mold and be someone you are not - embrace what makes you different and use it to your advantage.

Step two: Network Like a Pro. Start by reaching out to people in your industry who inspire you or who you admire. Connect with them on LinkedIn, send them a thoughtful message, and ask if they'd be open to grabbing a virtual coffee or hopping on a quick call.

Step three: Take Calculated Risks. Boldness often requires taking risks, but that doesn't mean you should throw caution to the wind. Instead, take calculated risks that have the potential to pay off big time.

Jayzen is thrilled to welcome his long time client and amazing marketer, Sydney Seiger, to the show.   Sydney serves as the CMO for Vistra Corp, one of the nation's leading energy companies.  Sydney’s career has taken her from academia as a university professor to the marketing world, now leading the charge across all of the brands in the Vista portfolio.  Her approach of being bold and trusting your gut have helped her build a truly remarkable career.

Karen Horne

Senior Vice President, Equity and Inclusion Programs

WarnerMedia

As a senior executive with over 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry, she has been recognized as a Diversity and Inclusion pioneer and pipeline builder.

Since coming to WarnerMedia in March of 2020, Horne has been involved in creating and implementing multiple pipeline programs that aim to amplify the voices of underrepresented communities. These programs give talented individuals, who would otherwise not have the opportunity, access to the entertainment industry to showcase their talent. She has brought expertise gained from her career to create cohesive programs, ranging from entry-level to mid-career, that service the entire enterprise. These programs support expansion in areas that have not traditionally been serviced (i.e., virtual production, games, news and sports, animation, comedy, etc.).

Before WarnerMedia, Horne was at NBC Entertainment and Universal Television Studios as Senior Vice President, Programming Talent Development and Inclusion where she was responsible for overseeing in-front-of and behind-the-camera primetime diversity efforts for NBC and Universal Television. While there, she started the Late-Night Writers Workshop in 2013 which changed the landscape of the writers’ rooms by increasing the number of women and ethnically diverse men, both of which were lacking. Another extraordinary program she developed was Female Forward, which guaranteed shadowing directors an opportunity to direct an entire episode in addition to the traditional shadowing access.

The programs and initiatives she created and/or developed became the industry’s gold standard and a blueprint for many other companies. Her background in finding and developing new talent allows her great ease in working with the creative world, while her corporate upbringing and work with C-Suite executives allows her equal comfort in any board room.

Horne has always been dedicated to increasing equity and inclusion in the entertainment industry throughout her career. She has been honored with several awards and recognitions for her diversity and inclusion work and her service to underrepresented communities. Horne serves on multiple industry boards and has spoken both nationally and internationally on diversity and inclusion best practices. She serves on the boards of Montclair State University’s School of Communication and Media, USC’s Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, The Alliance of Women Directors, RespectAbility, and The Urban League of the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. She is a member of several entertainment industry organizations.
