We kick things off with some big love for the Marlies as Toronto’s goalie depth keeps turning heads, then dive straight into a classic therapy session with The Good, The Bad & The Ugly. From Scott Laughton’s fire and Auston Matthews looking like himself again, to concerns on the blue line, Matthew Knies’ quiet stretch, and the worry around William Nylander’s injury — nothing is off the table. Honest takes, passionate debate, and real fan talk all the way through.
Then in our Third Period, we’re thrilled to welcome Sportsnet broadcaster, hockey historian, and bestselling author Ken Reid. We talk about his fantastic new book The Next One: Hockey Scouts, Remote Rinks and Hidden Talent, the hidden world of scouting, legendary Leafs scout Jerry McNamara, and the people behind the scenes who shape the game. Ken also weighs in on the Leafs, the Mitch Marner departure, media pressure in Toronto, and why hockey is just better when both the Leafs and Canadiens are good at the same time.
Big opinions, great stories, and lots of Leafs energy — this one’s for the fans who live and breathe it. Go Leafs Go!

The Leafs gave us plenty to talk about this week — and we’re breaking it all down with insight, energy, and a little fan therapy along the way. ️
Auston Matthews officially cements his place in Maple Leafs history, becoming the franchise’s all-time goals leader with 421 goals — but the conversation doesn’t stop there. We dig into why Matthews may need to shoot even more to keep climbing, and how recent coaching changes have sparked real improvement on the Leafs’ power play.
In our fan-favourite segment “Leaf it to the Ladies,” we bring perspective, passion, and plenty of truth from the stands. Then, in the Third Period, we’re joined by Anthony Stewart — former NHLer and broadcaster — who shares what it’s really like trying to score at the NHL level, plus his thoughts on the Leafs, league parity, and why Team Canada looks loaded heading into the Olympics.
We also take an honest look at Morgan Rielly’s struggles, what simplifying his game could mean for the blue line, and why the Leafs may need to add one or two defensemen to steady things as the season ramps up. With the NHL standings tighter than ever, predicting the playoffs feels impossible — especially with a brutal January schedule looming.
As always, we want to hear from you. Your questions, takes, and feedback help drive the conversation — so don’t be shy.
If you’re a Leafs fan looking for smart analysis, honest debate, and a fun, fan-first vibe, this episode is a must-listen. Go Leafs Go!

Signs of Hope? Where the Leafs Stand Heading Into the Christmas Break
The holidays are nearly upon us, and Leafs Nation is doing what it does best — reflecting, debating, and holding its breath! In this episode, we take a festive but honest look at where the Toronto Maple Leafs stand as the season hits a critical stretch.
We start with some good vibes shouting our our listeners on Spotify that made this years Wrapped one to remember! Its a reminder that no matter the ups and downs on the ice, this fanbase keeps growing. From there, it’s a mix of nostalgia and reality as we talk about Joe Bowen’s retirement, the end of an era for Leafs fans who grew up with his iconic calls.
On the ice, in our latest instalment of the Ladies Talkin' Leafs Highlight Reel, we break down why Scott Laughton’s leadership matters right now, how Matthew Knies is stepping into a bigger role, and why Dennis Hildeby has quietly earned trust between the pipes.
But it’s not all holiday cheer — injuries continue to derail momentum, the power play sitting 31st in the league is a major concern, and coaching decisions are under the microscope as frustration grows — so we invited our LTL insider Mike Augello to join us to for the Third Period to break it all down with us. Surprisingly, the conversation left us feeling more optimistic than expected!
With the playoff picture tightening, the spotlight turns to the leadership group and a stretch of must-win games that could define how this season is remembered. Is there still room for hope under the tree, or is pressure about to crystallize leaving us Leaf fans with nothing but coal?
Whether you’re wrapping gifts, commuting, or just need some Leafs therapy, this episode captures the current mood around the Toronto Maple Leafs — hopeful, tense, and very on-brand for the holidays.
Why This Next Stretch Could Define the Leafs’ Season: Plus All Things Auston Matthews ft. Kevin McGran
In this episode, we dive into all things Leafs with special guest Kevin McGran, longtime Toronto Star reporter and author of the brand-new book Auston Matthews: A Life in Hockey.
We kick off the show looking back at the Leafs’ roller-coaster week, what the team looks like with key players finally returning from injury, and how those missing pieces might shift the lineup, the vibes, and the playoff outlook. We also share a bit about our recent road trip to Montreal and get into the atmosphere at the Bell Centre — because let’s be honest, Leafs-Habs games just hit different — and why ticket prices continue to be in a league of their own when the Maple Leafs are involved.
Then, the moment you've all been waiting for... our first instalment of Leaf it to the Ladies, where you have the opportunity to join the conversation on our show with your questions and comments. In this instalment we welcome Leaf Fans Michael and Diana, sharing their thoughts!
Next for our Third Period segment, we welcome Kevin McGran, reporter and author of the new book Auston Matthews: A Life in Hockey, who joins us to share his insights into coaching styles, lineup flexibility, and how those choices impact the Leafs’ identity on the ice. We talk team dynamics, what still feels “off,” and why the upcoming schedule could make or break playoff positioning. Plus, we dig into the heart of Leafs Nation — fan engagement, community support, and why the connection between the team and the city matters now more than ever.
And of course, we spotlight Auston Matthews: from his unique, unlikely journey to the NHL to the making of Kevin’s new book and the stories that define one of hockey’s biggest stars.
If you’re a Leafs fan looking for smart insight, real talk, and a bit of hope sprinkled in, this episode is for you. Go Leafs Go!
The Leafs Need an Identity Shift: Why Mindset and Defense Will Decide Everything (ft. Kristen Shilton)
Épisode 5
mercredi 19 novembre 2025 • Durée 57:51
What’s wrong with this version of the Maple Leafs?
Are the Toronto Maple Leafs losing games because of their systems… or their mindset? This week, we’re joined by Kristen Shilton from ESPN, who brings her insights on the Leafs and the rest of the NHL to help us break down how belief, identity, and defense shape a team’s destiny.
We get the show rolling with an instalment of the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. While there have not been too many bright spots for the Leafs so far, we did find some things to look forward to that may help the team turn things around, namely heading out on the road, and welcoming back some stability between the pipes.
Then for The Third Period, we welcome Kristen Shilton and get her input as to why mindset matters more than we might think — how effort without belief falls flat, why the Leafs’ struggles feel psychological as much as tactical, and the role coaching plays in building a true winning identity. Plus, we talk about what a championship-calibre defensive structure actually looks like, and what has to change if Toronto wants to flip the script.
From identity shifts to locker-room confidence, this episode is all about how the Leafs can turn belief into results… and results into a real run, which will hopefully find the Buds back in the winning column. Go Leafs Go!
Are We Overreacting? Mike Augello on the Leafs’ Early-Season Growing Pains
Épisode 4
mercredi 5 novembre 2025 • Durée 55:06
Not a good week in Toronto with the Blue Jays losing the World Series in a devastating way and now the focus will shift to the Leafs and Raptors. We're saying goodbye and good riddance to October! It wasn’t a good month at all for the Leafs with a record of 5-5-1, but on a positive the last few seasons their record in October hasn’t been great either.
Yes, Leafs Nation is already feeling all the feelings right now — and honestly, who can blame us? The season’s off to a rocky, unpredictable start, and the emotions are running high. But are we overreacting, or is there real reason for concern?
In this episode of Ladies Talkin’ Leafs, we sit down with our Insider Mike Augello to break down the Leafs’ early-season storylines — from lineup adjustments and chemistry issues to the growing pains that come with any big change.
We talk about why emotional fan reactions are totally normal, how understanding team dynamics can help manage expectations, and why patience (yes, patience!) might be exactly what this team — and its fans — need right now.
It’s an honest, hopeful chat about leadership, frustration, and what it really means to stick with your team through the tough stretches. Go Leafs Go!
Finding Their Footing? What the Leafs’ Start Really Tells Us and Behind the Scenes with Shawn McKenzie
Épisode 3
mercredi 15 octobre 2025 • Durée 01:08:24
We all know its early, but the Leafs have so far gotten off to a shaky start with a roster in flux!
We begin this episode hoping to tap into a little bit of that 1992-93 season magic, as Chris dives into her "Dream Season" bag of memories. That killer instinct was elusive even then, so we take a look at what that really means in in today's game and why Craig Berube’s mental approach behind the bench could be exactly what this team needs to find theirs.
Then in our second segment we have an early season instalment of the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. While the scoreboard hasn't been our friend, there have been some positives to start the season, and of course a lot of room for improvement! We’ll break down Morgan Rielly’s strong start, the importance of depth players, and why fan energy still fuels everything this team does.
For our Third Period we welcome Shawn McKenzie, a master of in-game storytelling, who joins us to share his behind the scenes perspective on how the Leafs are building chemistry, adapting to lineup changes, and pushing for the kind of consistency that wins games early and in the playoffs.
Right now, it’s all about finding consistency before the season slips away. Because it’s early — but Leafs Nation knows every game matters. Go Leafs Go!

Welcome back Leafs Nation! Cooler weather is coming and that means hockey season is just around the corner!
The page has officially turned. Mitch Marner’s comments may not have sat well with everyone, but maybe that’s a good thing — because this season feels less about one star and more about the team as a whole.
For our final Patio Season episode we invited our LTL Insider Mike Augello for a chat to get his thoughts on the Leafs news of the day (wink wink nudge nudge) as well as his preview of the up and coming season. Will Max Domi potentially step into a bigger role and will Maccelli’s arrival add a fresh spark? No doubt there’s plenty to be excited about up front. On the back end, Morgan Rielly is still the heartbeat of the blue line (trade rumors or not), and if the Leafs can finally consistently get their defensive pairings clicking, we might just be talking about a deeper run than we’ve seen in years.
And don’t sleep on the future — prospects like Sam McCue and Easton Cowan could be difference-makers sooner than anyone thinks. Training camp is going to be a battle, and that’s exactly what this team needs: competition, energy, and a reminder that wearing the Leafs jersey is about more than individual stats.
This is the season of fresh starts, new chemistry, and maybe, just maybe, a little Leafs magic. Grab your jersey, grab a cold one, and let’s get into it. Go Leafs Go!
