This is a guest episode where Nommy Mlalazi and I discuss the issue of racism and think about the Black Lives Matter movement that became prominent in May 2020 following the death of George Floyd. So much change has come as a result of this movement but there is still a long way to go. Nommy was a speaker at the St Albans Black Lives Matter Protest in June 2020 and in this episode she speaks about her experience growing up in a predominantly white area and how she and others she knows have been affected by racism. She shares her thoughts on different issues linked to race and offers valuable insight on how we can further educate ourselves and how we can strive to be actively anti-racist as individuals and as a society. | The art of saying no. | 26 Jan 2023 | 00:36:03
It’s not always easy to say no to things even when we really want to. Sometimes we feel a duty or responsibility to do something because we feel it’s the right thing. A lot of us take on too much in our lives and end up getting stressed because we don’t know how to say no to things and we don’t want to let people down. Most of us are people pleasers which makes sense because why would we do something we know will not make the person asking us happy? But at the end of the day it’s about you and your life and you have to do what you feel able to and not take on more than you can handle. Some people can juggle more things than others and you shouldn’t compare yourself to other people but figure out what works for you. Let's chat about setting boundaries and saying NO!
