Every year hundreds of people seek medical care for heat related illnesses. While those numbers are usually made up by seniors who live alone, there’s plenty that can happen without you actually checking yourself into a hospital. Dehydration symptoms include headaches, dizziness, nausea, and being tired. Does any of that sound like a way you want to spend a vacation? Heck no! So today we’re going to teach you some ways to stay hydrated during these oh so hot Florida summers! To help us out we’re going to invite on our new friend Brady Holmer from the University of Florida College of Health to teach us about the history of Gatorade!
What was the original flavor of Gatorade? Is guacamole better for hydration than a banana? How do you pronounce Kinesiology? We answer all these questions and more on today's episode.

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (often nicknamed Triple D and stylized as Diners, Drive-Ins, Dives) is an American food reality television series that premiered on April 23, 2007, on the Food Network. It is hosted by Guy Fieri. The show originally began as a one-off special that aired on November 6, 2006.
There's a term for the boost in business a restaurant gets after being featured on the show: It's called the Triple D Effect. Restaurants report profits up by 500 percent as soon as a month after the show aired.
Of course this is not the only game in town. SO in part two of this episode we’re going to do some channel surfing around Florida and bring you some of our favorite as scene on TV dishes!

As of 2018 there were 41,366 eating and drinking place locations in Florida in 2018. That puts us at number 4 after CA, NY, and TX,
1,096,000 restaurant and foodservice jobs in Florida in 2019 = 12% of employment in the state
And by 2029, that number is projected to grow by 14.1%
= 154,700 additional jobs, for a total of 1,250,700
$50.1 billion
Estimated sales in Florida’s restaurants in 2018
Every dollar spent in the table service segment contributes $2.04 to the state economy.
So because of that we’ve got so many amazing cities with incredible places to eat that have quite literally put some places on peoples must do vacation spots.
So for this special two part episode we’re going to taking you all over the state for some INSANE food challenges and then next week we’re going to be bringing you all of our most famous eateries that you may have even seen on TV!

Florida ranks second in US states for coastline behind Alaska with 1,350 mi of beautiful blue water and white sandy beaches. Over half of that is attributed to the gulf of Mexico! The Gulf (west) coast of Florida measures 770 miles long, 5,095 counting estuaries and tidal pools; and 19 ports. It’s home to some of our favorite beaches, beloved wildlife, and thrilling outdoor activities.
