| Forgiveness is a Choice: Finding Freedom in Letting Go | 18 Dec 2024 | 00:16:16 | |
Welcome back to another heartfelt episode of the Joyful Journey. Today, I’m sharing a powerful chapter from my book, Whispers of the Soul, titled Forgiveness is a Choice. This topic has been on my heart lately—how we forgive others, and perhaps more importantly, how we forgive ourselves. I’ll take you on a journey of healing and self-discovery as I explore the pain of holding on, the courage to let go, and the incredible freedom that comes with forgiveness. Together, we’ll reflect on what it truly means to release old stories and embrace compassion for ourselves and others. I also share some reflective exercises to help you reconnect with your inner child—a beautiful source of love, joy, and wisdom—and let that child guide you toward deeper self-forgiveness. This episode is for anyone who feels stuck, weighed down by the past, or in need of a little more kindness for themselves. I hope it inspires you to take the courageous step of choosing forgiveness and finding the freedom to move forward. | Identifying Your Core Values | 19 Oct 2022 | 00:11:42
Did you know that studies have revealed only 2 - 3 % of North Americans are clear about their core values? Most people make big life decisions based on societal expectations instead of their own values. We’ve all done it at some point in our lives. Conform to societal pressures, or live up to the expectations of parents, partners, and friends. Making decisions based on what we feel we should do, not what we really want to do. In today’s episode, we go through a short exercise on how to identify your core values so you can make the best decisions for yourself and live life on your terms. | How to Decipher Between the Ego & Higher Self | 21 Sep 2022 | 00:13:42
Recently, one of my clients challenged me on a direction I gave her to go inward and ask herself the question I tell everyone they need to ask in order to find their true path, which is: “what do I really want.” My client argued that any answers that bubble up would come from the ego and therefore would be self-serving and not for the greater good. She felt frustrated because she wanted to know what she should do, not what her ego wanted her to do, and felt strongly that acting on one's wants and desires is an act of selfishness. What gold, I thought, and created an episode to unpack this. In this episode, I give you some tips to help you decipher between your “egoic” mind and your higher self and I explain how exploring what you really want and why it matters will ultimately lead you to act for the greatest good of all. | A Message About Love from the Other Side of the Veil | 13 Jul 2022 | 00:15:09
Have you heard of automatic writing or spiritual writing? This is the process of turning off the thinking brain and writing from your heart, stream of consciousness style. Some say that you can channel the wisdom from spirit guides, angels, and passed loved ones by using this method. At the very least, I believe it to be your higher self that emerges on the pages. In today’s episode, I share a message that came to me during one of my recent automatic writing sessions. The message came from my advisory council of spirit guides and the message is to “be the love.” In this episode, you and I are instructed on how exactly we are to do that. Thanks for listening! | Inner Critic vs Inner Wisdom | 18 Sep 2024 | 00:18:14
In this episode of The Joyful Journey, Anita shares a reading from her book Whispers of the Soul and dives into a powerful discussion sparked by a conversation with a former client who challenged the idea of asking oneself, "What do I really want?" This client believed that following personal desires is driven by ego and inherently selfish. Anita unpacks this inner conflict, exploring the distinction between ego-driven desires and guidance from the higher self, which speaks from love and aligns with the greater good. Listeners will learn how to decipher between these two voices, uncover the deeper "why" behind their desires, and shift from fear-based thinking to making decisions that serve not only their highest good, but the highest and greatest good for all. About Your Host: Anita Adams is a life and leadership coach, speaker, retreat leader, podcast host, and author of the bestselling book "Whispers of the Soul - A Guide to Clarity, Confidence, and Joy." She is also the visionary behind The Wisdom Way Method, a practice that empowers individuals to embark on a journey of conscious living and inspired leadership. With a keen focus on harnessing the power of inner wisdom, Anita guides her clients and audience toward unlocking their innate brilliance and realizing their true potential. | Finding Joy Through Compassion | 27 May 2026 | 00:10:42
There’s a common belief that joy comes from the absence of pain. But over the years, life has shown me something very different. Joy and sorrow can exist side by side. In this episode, I explore compassion as a pathway through pain and suffering — not by denying our grief or heartache, but by softening toward ourselves and others in the midst of it. Inspired in part by the beautiful wisdom shared in The Book of Joy by the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, I reflect on how compassion can ease suffering, deepen connection, and open the door to greater joy. I also share simple ways we can practice compassion in everyday life through presence, kindness, listening, and small acts of care that create meaningful ripples in the world around us. This episode concludes with a gentle guided meditation designed to help you deepen compassion for yourself, for others, and for the world we share. Wherever you may be on your journey right now, I hope this conversation offers a soft place to land. | Lift the Lid & Embrace Who You Really Are | 18 May 2022 | 00:12:48
In today’s episode, I share a personal story about lifting the lid to allow the fullest expression of who you are to emerge. It’s a story, in part, about my coming out of the spiritual closet. The bigger message is about getting clear about who you are and what you really want, and taking the time to define that for yourself instead of having it defined for you by society. You find that clarity, of course, by tuning into your soul's voice. Thanks for listening! | Into the Silence | 20 Apr 2022 | 00:12:24
One of the key messages for this podcast is to step into nature by yourself to find the stillness and silence so you can hear and be guided by your soul's voice. Something I discovered though, is that many are deeply uncomfortable with silence. In this episode, we explore why that may be and what you can do to develop your comfort in being in silence so you can reap the benefits. In the silence, we discover our strength, find the answers we are looking for and awaken. Highlight’s from this episode: Do a “silence comfort” self-assessment A common reason for avoiding silence - is fear of being alone with negative or dark thoughts. | Quieting the Monkey Brain on the Journey to Enlightenment | 06 Apr 2022 | 00:11:22
Did you know that only 3% of the world’s population is dancing around ‘enlightenment’ as a way of being? That's according to Alan Davidson, the best selling author of the multi award winning book, Body Brilliance: Mastering Your Five Vital Intelligences. He claims that as the number of enlightened people grows another 3 or 4% the problems that plague humanity now will dramatically shift. "As 10% of the world’s population shifts into full enlightened consciousness,” he says “a tipping point of transformation will make life on earth a very different experience.” In today’s episode we talk about how we can play a role in raising the collective conscious by learning to quiet the monkey brain and listen to our soul voice. I argue that the way to enlightenment is on a path through the forest. Highlight’s from this episode: The monkey brain keeps you living in the past or fretting about the future. The monkey brain prevents you from being present. Being present in the now is what is required to achieve enlightenment. Connecting with nature helps to create presence of mind Only when you are present will you hear your the guidance of you soul voice Lau Tzu: “At the centre of your being you have the answer. You know who you are and you know what you want.” 30 Day Challenge - to invest 20 - 30 minutes in nature every day getting present with your environment. Joy is not the absence of sorrow and the way through pain is to embrace it. In today’s episode, we meet Catherine Gourdier, the author of Breathe Cry Breathe, a book about her personal journey through grief as she comes to terms with the sudden traumatic loss of three close family members. In Catherine’s words, “when you can find the strength to open your heart, you just may find some blessings on the other side of the mourning.” Highlight’s from this episode: Identifying 5 types of grievers (nomad, seeker, normalizer, memorialist, activist) Working with psychics and mediums as a way to help move through grief Believing in a life after death eliminates the fear of dying and brings comfort How to talk to our elders about giving up their car keys Continuing to celebrate the lives of those you’ve lost About Our Guest Catherine Gourdier: Catherine Gourdier was born and raised in Kingston, Ontario. She moved to Toronto to attend College. For sixteen years she enjoyed a successful career as an independent sales agent. In 1990, Catherine shifted careers. For almost 20 years she worked as a 2nd Assistant Director in the film and television industry. In 2002, she optioned a novel, wrote the screenplay, and produced the film, "Some Things That Stay." Catherine divides her time between North Kawartha, Toronto, and California but Kingston, Ontario will always be her home. The sudden loss of her parents and youngest sister, Julie, compelled her to write her first book, "Breathe Cry Breathe", published by HarperCollins Canada. | There is No Such Thing As Ready | 23 Mar 2022 | 00:19:31
"It's a terrible thing in life to wait until you are ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything. There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now.” ~ Hugh Laurie. In this episode, I share some thoughts and a few personal stories on how to move past this dream-killing idea that you have to be ready and have all the answers before you can move forward with your dream.
