| Shark Explorers | 09 Apr 2026 | 00:12:08 | |
For Stephen Swanson, the ocean has never just been a place it’s been a lifelong pursuit of understanding its most powerful and mysterious inhabitants. His journey began with hands-on research into the world’s top marine predators, studying seals, whales, dolphins, seabirds, and great white sharks across South Africa and beyond. This deep scientific foundation naturally evolved into a career where he could share that knowledge directly with others—bringing people face-to-face with the ocean in a meaningful and responsible way. Today, as co-owner of Shark Explorers (False Bay White Shark Adventures), Stephen leads from the front. Whether skippering the vessel, guiding guests, or overseeing dive operations, he combines technical expertise with a calm, intuitive understanding of sharks and their environment. His priority is always safety, education, and creating an experience that leaves a lasting impact. Stephen’s career bridges science and storytelling. As a co-author of 11 scientific publications and contributor to more than 10 international documentaries—including collaborations with National Geographic, Discovery Channel, and BBC—he has helped bring the story of marine predators to a global audience. One of his most remarkable achievements was playing a key role in a groundbreaking research project, where he placed a satellite tag on the now world-famous great white shark Nicole. Her extraordinary journey from South Africa to Australia and back over 11 months became the longest recorded intercontinental migration of a free-swimming white shark—reshaping our understanding of these animals. With decades of experience and a deep respect for the ocean, Stephen offers more than just a shark cage diving trip—he offers a rare opportunity to connect with one of the planet’s most iconic predators through the eyes of someone who has dedicated his life to studying and protecting them.

The drama takes place after the forced removals from Cape Town to the Cape Flats. It examines the impact of social and societal problems on the community and offers a glimpse into the lives of the displaced—their joys and sorrows, and their desperate longing for a better life. It also focuses on the scars that Apartheid left on the Cape Coloured community.
| Stellenbosch Wine Tractor | 26 Mar 2026 | 00:13:13 | |
I have a long history of entrepenurship prior to starting the wine tractor in February 2024 while still running my car rental company and mechanical workshop. The idea was to provide a similar concept to the Franschoek wine tram, but improve on the customer experience and make it one of the premier wine tasting experiences in South Africa. In December 2024 I shut down the car rentals and workshop to focus on the tractor as I preferred the business to where I had come from. Since then the tractor has grown exponentially, receiving around 1800 guests last December alone. The business has also given me a lot of insight into what I look for in business and how I approach opportunities.
