- Ramadan is described as the month of Allah's mercy. - Fasting rules are flexible, allowing exemptions for sickness and travel. - Allah desires ease and does not want hardship for believers. - Expiation for missed fasting is in the form of giving food to the poor. - Pregnant and nursing women are exempted from fasting if it harms their health. - Individuals decide if they can handle fasting based on their health. - Social dimension: Expiation involves giving staple food, emphasizing care for the needy. - Financial challenges exist even in high cost of living areas like Toronto, with food banks supporting the needy. - Some parts of the Muslim world, like Yemen and Gaza, also face extreme difficulties. - The importance of advocacy: Supporting motions like revoking arms permits for conflict areas can have an impact. We should also show support for MPs who take the appropriate stance in these situations. - Hope for the coming of Imam al-Mahdi, who will bring real peace and alleviate poverty.
