In this final episode of season 18, we sat down with Daniel Wand of Capsize to talk about the band’s long-awaited return and the release of their new Under a Hollow Sky EP, out now via Roux & Ruin Records. After years of sporadic single releases, Daniel reflected on why returning to a physical EP format felt essential, allowing the band to tell a complete story for the first time since 2016’s A Reintroduction: The Essence Of All That Surrounds Me. We discussed the creative and emotional weight behind tracks like “The Fracture” and the EP’s title song, the freedom that came with signing to Roux & Ruin Records, and recently working with producers Matt Good and Cody Stewart. Daniel also opened up about accountability, internal struggle, and maintaining full creative control—both sonically and visually—as Capsize step into a more intentional and fully realized new chapter. So much more to come from these guys.

Oskar Logi of Icelandic rock trio The Vintage Caravan joins us to discuss their fifth studio album, Portals. Known for carrying the torch of classic rock while giving it a modern edge, the band continues to evolve with each release. We reflect on the early days of The Vintage Caravan, their rise from Iceland’s underground scene, and the exciting addition of Opeth’s Mikael Åkerfeldt, who makes a special guest appearance on one of the album’s tracks. With their last album, Monuments having charted and raised the bar for the band, we also ask Oskar if he feels any pressure moving forward as Portals marks another milestone in their career. Happy.Mad.Weird.Sad. Leesburg, Virginia-based indie rock outfit, My Kid Brother, has achieved all the emotions that can fill up the emotional spectrum. The newest album, their debut outing, has cemented My Kid Brother as one of the bands to watch for within the music community. We are joined by founder and drummer, Sam Athanas, as he discusses the chemistry he developed with his bandmates and the journey leading up to dropping their highly praised first record. We also ask Sam about being a drummer, how his role comes into play within the production process alongside the other members of the band, and his personal influences that have shaped him into who he is today.
