Inside Curling is back! Brad Jacobs is in the house to talk about the 2024/25 season

mardi 17 septembre 2024Durée 01:08:29

Welcome to Inside Curling season number five....this

is our first official show of the 2024 – ’25 season and

we have a lot of things to cover.

When we did our summer show in August we

announced that Inside Curling is no longer part of

Sportsnet and have moved over to Acast. We would

again like to thank everyone at Sportsnet for the three

great years we spent with the network. Also, in

addition to kevin, Warren and Jim we would like to

welcome our technical producer for the third year,

Mike Rogerson along with Rod Palson who is doing

our social media for the fifth year, mainly Face Book

and X (Twitter) but once we are into the season we

are also going to branch into Instagram and Tik Tok

more than we have in the past. In this coming season

we will have clips, segments and some interviews on

You Tube.

Here is what is on the show today’s show…

What’s Happening Around the Curling World?

World Curling concluded it’s annual

Curling Congress in Montreal on September 8 th and

Warren was there so we will review what took

place.

A number of smaller spiels have already

happened and this weekend in Cornwall, Ontario

the annual Shorty Jenkins Classic is taking place

involving some of the best teams in the world so

we will look in on what is happening there.

On September 17th and 18 th an

interesting new event is taking place in Lafayette,

Colorado, the Everest North American Curling Club

Championship….We will review what is taking

place there. An interesting playoff took place this

past week in Sweden involving Anna Hasselborg

and Isabella Wrana….We will review what

happened. During our summer show we talked

about the Governor General’s Curling and it held

its 150 anniversary gathering in Ottawa,

September 8 – 12…We announced the Showdown at the

Saville on our show in August and we will bring

you up-to-date on what is happening with the

Showdown.

Hot Rocks Topics, During the World Curling meetings some

interesting discussions were brought up regarding

rules enforcement by some retired athletes and

coaches who were present….you will be surprised

at what they had to say….

The issue of 8 ends versus 10 wasn’t on the

agenda...wasn’t even discussed…what would

be the reason for that?

In The House, Brad Jacobs is now the skip of the old

Brendan Bottcher team and Brad will be with us to

talk about the up coming season.

Mailbag, Even though it is summer we are

getting emails and we will review one.

What Are You Hearing, Brianne Harris, lead on team Einarson

was suspended from all competition at the end of

February because of a banned substance detected in a

sample taken on January 24 th . A-B sample was taken

in early March and the substance Ligandrol was

detected again. Harris has been suspended since but

this week on Face Book a posting was made bringing

everyone up to speed on the situation - we will take a

look at it.
