Why Shedeur Sanders is THE story of the ’25 NFL Draft; Sam Darnold's market lower than expected

Épisode 219

vendredi 7 mars 2025Durée 59:58

Jason Fitz, Frank Schwab and Charles Robinson look ahead to the 2025 NFL Draft’s top story: Shedeur Sanders. With various mock drafts projecting Sanders from as high the second pick to as low as the second round, where will Shedeur ultimately land? Plus, Sanders already carries himself like an elite NFL quarterback, but can he REALLY be one? The trio also look at Shedeur’s dual-threat teammate, Travis Hunter, and make some way-too-early draft predictions.

Fitz, Frank & C Rob also debate the future of quarterback Sam Darnold and his role in the Minnesota Vikings' plans for next season. If the market value for Darnold is weaker than initially projected, does it make sense for him to stay in Minnesota, or is the threat of yet another QB battle too much for him to bear?

(00:30) - Shedeur Sanders is the story of the draft

(25:15) - How Travis Hunter fits into the top five

(29:30) - Predicting the top 3 picks of the 2025 NFL Draft

(39:00) - Why Sam Darnold's market is lower than expected

Cooper Kupp & Myles Garrett landing spots, early Super Bowl takes & Kellen Moore to the Saints?

Épisode 210

mardi 4 février 2025Durée 59:16

Your favorite NFL insiders—Jason Fitz, Jori Epstein, Charles Robinson and Frank Schwab—join forces live from the Toyota Land Cruiser set at Super Bowl LIX to go behind the scenes on the latest headlines, trade talks and coaching moves that are shaping the future of the NFL. The crew digs into the Los Angeles Rams' decision to potentially trade star receiver Cooper Kupp. Is he washed, or could a contender still use his talents? Charles and Frank offer differing views on Kupp’s future, with Frank suggesting he’s nearing the end of the line, while Charles argues that a contending team could get great value out of him—despite his hefty contract. The conversation turns to the Cleveland Browns' star defensive end Myles Garrett, who’s recently requested a trade. Will the Browns actually move him?

Later, the gang dives into the saga of Kellen Moore and his potential fit with the New Orleans Saints—are the Saints gambling too much on this up-and-coming offensive mind? And with Chip Kelly taking over as the highest-paid coordinator in the NFL for the Las Vegas Raiders, could this signal a shift toward competency in Las Vegas? How much control does Tom Brady really have in the building, and could that change in the coming years?

As the episode wraps, the team shifts gears to discuss the looming Super Bowl matchup. Frank points to the Philadelphia Eagles’ laser focus as a sign they’re treating this game like a business trip, while Charles notes the Kansas City Chiefs’ seemingly casual attitude could come back to haunt them.

(2:10) - Cooper Kupp trade talks/best landing spots

(10:25) - Will the Browns actually trade Myles Garrett?

(26:00) - Why the Saints are taking a big risk with Kellen Moore

(40:05) - Raiders hire Chip Kelly

(52:45) - Early Super Bowl thoughts

Goodell MUST address NFL officiating issues & is Eli Manning REALLY a Hall of Famer?

Épisode 209

vendredi 31 janvier 2025Durée 01:01:20

With Super Bowl LIX just over a week away, Jason Fitz, Charles Robinson and Frank Schwab dive into the hot topics Roger Goodell must confront in his State of the League address. First and foremost are the officiating errors made throughout the league, but particularly in the NFC & AFC Championship games. Human error in must-win games must be corrected, but how?

The trio react to the news that Matthew Stafford will return to play in 2025, though he’s unlikely to do so on his current contract with the Los Angeles Rams. Will Stafford and the Rams find enough common ground to make a new, one-year deal? Or will the Rams let Stafford go elsewhere and start building towards their future? Plus, the latest on Aaron Rodgers’ situation with the New York Jets and just how chaotic the quarterback carousel could become this offseason if Rodgers does retire.

Fitz, Charles & Frank debate whether or not Eli Manning should be voted into the NFL Hall of Fame. He beat Tom Brady twice, and won 2 Super Bowls, but is it enough?

(1:59) Goodell needs to fix NFL officiating

(20:02) Matthew Stafford to return

(27:39) Latest on Aaron Rodgers

(43:28) Where will Sam Darnold land?

First up, the duo discuss the Dallas Cowboys’ hire of Matt Eberflus as defensive coordinator, with Fitz and Frank offering differing opinions on the direction of the team under Jerry Jones' leadership. Is it time for the Saints to reset and embrace a multi-year rebuild, or will they continue to kick the can down the road? The guys also touch on the Houston Texans’ firing of Bobby Slowik, pondering how this impacts the future of CJ Stroud.

Championship reactions: How Bills can break the curse, early Super Bowl predictions

Épisode 207

lundi 27 janvier 2025Durée 01:02:52

In this Championship Weekend edition of Inside Coverage, Jason Fitz and Frank Schwab dive into the intense battles between the NFL's final four. The duo start with a heated conversation about the Kansas City Chiefs defeating the Buffalo Bills in a controversial, tight battle to the end. Fitz and Schwab reflect on how Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have mastered the art of winning close games, with Mahomes’ uncanny ability to perform in clutch moments making him the most dangerous player in the league. But while the Chiefs' success is undeniable, there’s a growing sense that teams like the Buffalo Bills may be on the verge of running out of time to get past their kryptonite. The discussion takes a turn toward officiating as Fitz and Schwab break down the controversy around the Chiefs and the refs.
Later in the episode, the Philadelphia Eagles dominate the conversation as Fitz and Schwab analyze their commanding win over the Washington Commanders. The Eagles’ dynamic offense, including the unstoppable Saquon Barkley, is riding high heading into the Super Bowl, while the Commanders, though not quite ready to compete at that level, show promising signs for the future.
With their eyes set on the Super Bowl matchup between Kansas City and Philadelphia, Fitz and Frank wrap up with their first impressions in what's shaping up to be a monster matchup in New Orleans.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have reportedly hired Liam Coen as their head coach, but will the mishandling of the situation with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers leave a bad taste in the mouths of both franchises?

Jets hire Aaron Glenn, Ben Johnson to the Bears & NFC Championship preview

Épisode 205

mercredi 22 janvier 2025Durée 01:09:40

In this exciting episode of Inside Coverage, hosts Jason Fitz, Jori Epstein and Frank Schwab dive into the latest coaching news (including some breaking news live on the show) before breaking down this weekend's NFC Championship game. First up, the Chicago Bears have made a big splash by hiring Ben Johnson head coach, but they apparently hired him without meeting him in person. The trio explores the implications of this decision, especially considering Caleb's role in the process and the Bears' desperate need for a fresh start. Next, the breaking news drops that Aaron Glenn is heading to the New York Jets, and the trio give their instant analysis before touching on the uncertainty surrounding the Jacksonville Jaguars' future after firing GM Trent Baalke. Meanwhile, the Las Vegas Raiders are still in search of a head coach after their GM hire, and the team debates potential candidates, including the intriguing prospect of Pete Carroll or Anthony Weaver. The Dallas Cowboys seem to be moving in the direction of Brian Schottenheimer in their head coaching search, despite Kellen Moore offering a potentially higher ceiling.
The episode wraps with a preview of the NFC Championship game, where Jori will be braving the cold to watch the action live in Philadelphia. The hosts dive into the concerns surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles’ passing game and discuss how their formula of relying on the run game and a dominant defense could be enough to get them to the Super Bowl. On the other side, Frank gives high praise to Washington’s rising star Jayden Daniels, who might just be the best player on the field Sunday. The gang make their predictions for what promises to be an unforgettable game.

Mark Andrews’ crucial drop and unforced turnovers haunted Baltimore, but Fitz and Frank agree it wasn’t all on Lamar Jackson. Moving into the NFC, the Detroit Lions’ disappointing playoff performance raises questions about their coaching staff, while Frank Schwab hypes up rookie QB Jayden Daniels for his impressive season—one of the best in recent memory. The Philadelphia Eagles sneak out a win in the snow, but concerns about their one-dimensionality continue to grow. Top candidates for Cowboys, Saints, Jets, Jags & Raiders jobs + QB drama for Vikings & Browns

Épisode 203

vendredi 17 janvier 2025Durée 01:04:41

Jason Fitz & Charles Robinson sort through the top candidates for each of the open NFL head coaching jobs. Could a Mike McCarthy return to the New Orleans Saints maximize Derek Carr’s potential before they enter a rebuild? Aaron Glenn could be an attractive option for the New York Jets, unless he decides to return to a Detroit Lions organization that’s doing just about everything right. After what he’s done to improve the Tampa Bay Buccaneers run game, could Liam Coen revive the Jacksonville Jaguars running with Travis Ettienne and Tank Bigsby?

Charles puts a stop to all notions that the Dallas Cowboys could make moves to trade up for Shedeur Sanders, but he does believe they’re seriously considering Deion Sanders as their head coach. Another option for the Cowboys is Kellen Moore, especially since it seems Jerry Jones never really wanted to let him go in the first place. Though it may seem unlikely, is there good reason that Ben Johnson would prefer the Las Vegas Raiders job to the Chicago Bears opening?

To wrap, the pair talk through some quarterback drama for the Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Browns. After two disappointing losses, will the Vikings still consider franchising Sam Darnold or will they move on to J.J. McCarthy? Meanwhile, the Browns seem to have no choice but to draft a QB with the second pick in this year’s draft following Deshaun Watson’s second achilles injury.
