Join Anne & Kelli for their 235th NEW episode of #ilovemywife podcast. They are podcasting this final episode of 2024 from home! They wish everyone happy holidays and hope that you are all surrounded by people that you love, whether that be family or a family of friends. Before getting to their holidays, they first talk about losing their friend Gavin Creel and the amazing memorial that was held in his honor. It was truly a beautiful way to remember a man that so many people loved so much. Next, they discuss the shooting of the United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson and the complicated reaction that people are having about the whole thing, including the conversation about healthcare and insurance in this country and the reform that is so badly needed. Hear about Anne’s big holiday concert this year which was slightly complicated by her knee injury, but it was a huge success and so much fun. Plus, city nights out that included dinner with friends that came into town for Anne’s show, a piano bar night to celebrate Will’s birthday and a dinner at The Tin Building, seeing friends Natalie Joy Johnson and Brian Nash perform at a new venue called The So and So and dinner with friends Bradley and Matthew at their place. Kelli talks about having a bad reaction to retinol and Anne gives you all the inside scoop on her first shingles shot and the delayed reaction and side effects. Also hear all about their new apartment! After the break, they chat about holiday traditions. Christmas cookies, hosting their annual friends and family party, having their family Christmas Eve on Dec 23rd, Kelli making gumbo on the 24th and taking Anne’s Mom to the city for holiday lights and dinner on the 25th. They always see Sandra Bernhard show at Joe’s Pub and go to dinner at Indochine with lots of friends. This year, Kelli’s brother Charles and sister-in-law Kath are coming for New Year’s Eve. They are excited to have some fun dinners and enjoy the last NYE in their Jersey City apartment. Finally, they talk about what comes next for them. Their first trip of the year is a Celebrity cruise mid-January that Anne is performing on and then it’s their BIG move! Right after the move, Anne has a concert in Ft Lauderdale at Sunshine Cathedral on Feb 1st. | EP 234 Kelli & Anne head to Louisiana for the Thanksgiving holiday! | 06 Dec 2024 | 01:00:23
Join Anne & Kelli for their 234th NEW episode of #ilovemywife podcast. They are again podcasting from home! They start by wishing a happy birthday to Anne’s Musical Director and bestie Will. They wish him the best day and year ahead and can’t wait to continue to travel the world with him. Before getting to the holidays, they first talk about going to see the movie Wicked! They went to the IPIC theater at Fulton Street in Manhattan that serves drinks and food and had the most amazing time. They loved the movie and the performances and highly recommend it to everyone! Now they get to heading down to Louisiana for the Thanksgiving holiday. They started in New Orleans where they stayed at their favorite hotel there, The Ritz Carlton. They love the club level there and all of the fabulous holiday decorations. They had wonderful lunches and dinners with Kelli’s brother Charles and sister-in-law Kath, got Botox from Kelli’s sister Claire at her practice, Audubon Facial Plastics, and had a family dinner at Peche. Next, they headed to Baton Rouge for the first Thanksgiving since losing Kelli’s father Joel. They knew it would be an emotional trip but it felt so good to be surrounded by their huge family. Every night was a different theme dinner night from Lebanese to Mexican. Thanksgiving Day started with the Macy’s Day Parade and then a lunch in the country at Kelli’s birth father Charles’ home surrounded by that huge family with lots of young children to enjoy. They then headed back to Kelli’s Mom Melanie’s house for their traditional Thanksgiving dinner. This was where Joe’s presence was missed the most as he always carved the turkey, did the blessing and led a circle up with everyone saying what they are grateful for that year. Melanie did a great job leading the prayer and saying something beautiful to honor Joel. After dinner we all watched the Green Bay Packers win to make the night end in the absolute best way! The rest of the weekend started with the cousins annual Black Friday shopping trip. While they were away, Kelli’s brother Charles made his delicious Chicken and Andouille Gumbo for dinner that night. It also happened to be their daughter Vivi’s 22nd birthday and Charles’ 55th birthday so they had a cake after dinner. Now that all the cousins are young adults, they decided to take Vivi out for her birthday and lucky for her, our son Blake offered to be the sober driver. They all had quite a night and Blake and his wife Teresa ended up being more of babysitters than they expected. Needless to say, everyone but Blake was totally hungover the next day. They all headed to the airport on Saturday with some flight delays, but even so, they were happy to be back home again. Finally, they talk about what comes next for them. Mostly they are excited to be home now through the holidays. They will start packing for their big move after Christmas and they are not looking forward to that. Anne also talks about her next concert that is coming up in Ft Lauderdale at Sunshine Cathedral on Feb 1st. You can find all of Anne’s tour dates and info at www.annesteele.com If you want to join them on a gig trip, email Kelli at Kelli@Kelligreggtravel.com For more info on Kelli’s trips go to www.kelligreggtravel.com As always you can stream on the DNR Studios app or you can listen anywhere you get your podcasts for free! | EP 225 Join Anne and Kelli for Anne’s Birthday show and Beyond! | 19 Jul 2024 | 00:57:12
EP 225 Join Anne and Kelli for Anne’s Birthday show and Beyond! Join Anne & Kelli for their 225th NEW episode of #ilovemywife podcast where they are podcasting from HOME! It’s also Anne’s Birthday Show! Hear all about the celebrations and how they differ in their feelings about birthdays. Next, they talk about their quick trip to Provincetown for Anne’s concert at the Post Office Café. They had several new experiences like taking the ferry from Boston to Ptown, celebrating 4th of July there and only staying 3 nights when they usually spend a week there every summer. They had a quick but fantastic time there with good friends. The biggest problem was when they returned to Boston to then fly to Ft Lauderdale to kick off Kelli’s summer R Family Vacations cruise, they ended up with multiple delays while already on the plane and had a screaming baby next to them for the entire trip. As you know, Anne is NOT a fan of any baby on a plane…not to mention a screaming one. You have to hear the story to believe it. Next, they talk about Kelli’s R Family Vacations cruise on the Celebrity Beyond roundtrip from Ft Lauderdale. It’s been 21 years of fantastic vacations that have created friendships and bonds that go beyond one week. Kelli talks about how wonderful it is to be on social media and see all of the friendships that have been made through R Family and how it feels to be the connector to so many wonderful people. This year was particularly special as Anne had some of her dear piano bar buddies join this cruise. Don’t forget to check out all of Anne’s upcoming tour dates including Rehoboth Beach on July 29th. | EP 224 Anne and Kelli talk more travel tales from the high seas including behind the scenes stories & travel hacks | 05 Jul 2024 | 00:59:58
Join Anne & Kelli for their 224th NEW episode of #ilovemywife podcast where they are podcasting from HOME! It’s also Anne’s Mom’s birthday the day the show airs! Happy birthday Sue Steele!! First, they talk about coming home after 2 weeks at sea and having to raid the freezer and get creative with food. Anne’s obsession with Trader Joe’s helped that process for sure. Next, they talk about the previous 2 weeks at sea where Anne was a Headline entertainer. She tells you all about how she meets the orchestra, runs the show with them and then performs 2 shows that same night. Also hear about what she will and won’t eat on a show day, the drama of wearing fake lashes and nails, some crazy mishaps with their room and the incredible crew and fellow entertainers they got to absolutely love. The cruise also included some work for Kelli as she was running Seth Rudetsky’s Broadway Cruise on the 2nd week. From Master Classes from Seth, to Broadway stars performing including Jennifer Simard, Christopher Sieber and Julie Benko the week was full of music. The weather was another story as there were very rough seas. So, of course Anne and Kelli spent their time in Bermuda doing a bar crawl! They also had lots of spare time so they played Five Crowns and Rummikub. They also binged the new season of Bridgerton, Top Chef and the new documentary I Am: Celine Dion which they highly recommend although it is very painful to watch. Don’t forget to check out all of Anne’s upcoming tour dates including Rehoboth Beach on July 29th. | EP 223 Anne and Kelli tell tales from the road while finally snuggled at home, for now | 21 Jun 2024 | 00:56:57
Join Anne & Kelli for their 223rd NEW episode of #ilovemywife podcast where they are actually podcasting from HOME!! They pre-taped this episode because Anne is headlining for 2 weeks on a Celebrity cruise from NJ to Bermuda! First, they catch you up on Kelli attending Proud Experiences, and LGBTQ travel show, in LA plus all the fun dinners they had with friends. Don’t forget Anne shopping for a new suitcase and discovering a store called Ross that has excellent discounted luggage! They also talk about the flight hope from LA when Kelli got upgraded and Anne didn’t but because of their agreement and Kelli had been working on that trip, so she took the Delta One lay flat upgrade! Next, they talk about Anne’s Mom’s apartment flooding and Ziggy coming back to stay while their daughter Vivi is doing her college internship in NYC. They also talk about Kelli’s Mom Melanie and sister-in-law Kath coming to visit. They cooked in the first night and made a Thai dinner including pad thai, chicken lettuce wraps, and vegetable gyoza. They of course served the dinner on Kelli’s grandmother’s china. They also played several rounds of the card game 5 Crowns. They actually came in town because of their son Blake and his fiancé Teresa had their Wedding Shower. It was Phantom of the Opera themed (because he proposed to her at intermission of that musical) and it was thrown by Teresa’s parents. There was so much food! For Kelli and Anne’s contribution they brought their bingo machine and called Phantom of the Opera BINGO! Also, during bingo breaks, Anne’s Musical Director Will told fun facts about Phantom. It was a super fun day and Blake and Teresa looked so happy. Finally, Anne talks about her follow up mammogram, apartment scouting, Anne’s neck trauma, getting recognized at Target in Jersey City, and seeing the musical SUFFS on Broadway. They encourage everyone to see SUFFS, a musical about the movement to get women the right to vote, because it’s the time to remind us all how important it is to vote and what a privilege it is to have that right. Plus women and losing their right everyday so you must VOTE! Don’t forget to check out all of Anne’s upcoming tour dates including Provincetown on July 5th and Rehoboth Beach on July 29th. | EP 222 Go on the road for Anne’s concerts in Chicago & Kelli attending LGBTQ travel show Proud Experiences in LA | 07 Jun 2024 | 00:58:48
Join Anne & Kelli for their 222nd NEW episode of #ilovemywife podcast from their hotel room in LA where Kelli is attending Proud Experiences, an LGBTQ travel show. They are again jetlagged so buckle up! They arrived in LA from Chicago where Anne had 2 concerts at Davenport’s. She talks about how great it was to see so many old and new friends and to finally be back singing sinve she hasn’t played there since the pandemic. They also talk about some travel snafus they hit along the way like not being able to find and affordable hotel room because of a city-wide medical conference and so they had to find an Air B&B, Anne’s suitcase breaking on the flight and a bad seat companion. They did see Death Becomes Her with Megan Hilty and they loved it! They highly recommend seeing it when it moved to Broadway. Next, they talk about being home for 10 days before they went to Chicago and how good it was to spend time with their kids, Anne’s Mom and their close friends. Their daughter Vivi is home for the summer from college and doing an internship in the city so they are thrilled to have her home before her Senior Year. They hosted a big gay brunch at their apartment and had a blast. They went to a hibachi dinner with their good friends Jon and Steve to celebrate their son Jackson’s 9th birthday. Anne’s Mom Sue came over and spent the night and then Anne took her shopping and for lunch. Their son Blake and his fiancé Teresa came over for dinner and they helped stuff wedding invitations. Overall it was so lovely to be home with people they love. The last episode aired on Kelli’s birthday but it was pre-taped. On her actual birthday Anne had to have an epidural on her neck. The good news is that the procedure was fast and effective and they were headed home by 11am. What Kelli really wanted was to cook diner in their tagine that they bought when they were traveling in Morocco. Hear all about the recipe and how it worked out. If you have any tagine recipes they encourage you to send them through social media. They also talk about Kelli attending a special lunch hosted by Greg Koozer at Tiffany on Fifth Avenue. Later that night they were invited by their friend Charlie Rounds, the co-founder of RSVP Vacations and Brand G, to attend a Czech Tenors show at Carnegie Hall in celebration of new achievements for LGBTQ people in the Czech Republic. It’s hard to believe but Anne had never been to Carnegie Hall so it was a big thrill for her to finally be there. Lastly, they do their new segment called “Neat or On the Rocks”. This is where they each pick a positive (neat) and a negative (on the rocks) thing that has happened to each of them since the last episode. They did not discuss their answers until they are recording the episode so you will hear their reactions live to tape! They also ask that YOU write them with your picks for “Neat or On the Rocks” or any other ideas you may have for new topics for discussion! Don’t forget to check out all of Anne’s upcoming tour dates. You can find all of her tour dates at www.annesteele.com. | EP 221 A jet lagged Anne and Kelli fill you in on 3 weeks through Spain and France with Atlas Ocean Voyages | 24 May 2024 | 01:00:23
Join Anne & Kelli for their 221st NEW episode of #ilovemywife podcast where they fill you in on their crazy 3 weeks through Spain and France all while FULLY jet lagged! They literally recorded this episode 12 hours after landing. The BEST part is that it airs on Kelli’s ACTUAL Birthday!!! Please join Anne in sending all of your love to Kelli as she celebrates another year of being truly fabulous! First, they talk about the last 3 weeks that they spent with Anne performing as the Guest Entertainer on Atlas Ocean Voyages, a stunning intimate expedition yacht that is pure luxury. They traveled from Morocco, through Spain to Barcelona, and then weaved through Spain and France to end the trip in Nice, France. You will hear about incredible people they met, food tours, an engagement, games with friends, train beer, Irish Pubs in every stop, a St Tropez beach club that changed the game, and a crew and company they will never forget. But you will also hear that Anne got a terrible cold, couldn’t find gummi bears, chicken fingers OR Nyquil, no train wine, a package store that doesn’t sell pringles and feeling underdressed at Cannes Film Festival. However, the flight home really brings it all home where they were upgraded to Delta One (AMAZING AND THANK YOU DELTA) and for some reason decided to binge Baby Reindeer all the way home. (terrible idea). Finally, they do their new segment called “Neat or On the Rocks”. This is where they each pick a positive (neat) and a negative (on the rocks) thing that has happened to each of them since the last episode. They did not discuss their answers until they are recording the episode so you will hear their reactions live to tape! | EP 233 Anne & Kelli hit the road again including road tripping across the desert! | 22 Nov 2024 | 01:05:50
Join Anne & Kelli for their 233rd NEW episode of #ilovemywife podcast. They are again podcasting from home. They start by addressing their feelings post-election and their disappointment in the direction that our country continues to go. They have taken a break from the news and are focusing on staying connected to their friends and family that continue to support each other in these complicated times. They also talk about rallying for mid-tern elections in 2 years and how important every single election is and that we must always VOTE. They talk about Kelli’s travels to Baton Rouge to visit her mother and to have all of her favorite foods like shrimp po-boys, marinated crab claws and char gilled oysters. Next, she headed to Las Vegas to attend the Signature Travel Conference at The Venetian Hotel. Between seeing good travel friends, making amazing new connections and speaking at an LGBTQ Travel Symposium, it was a very successful trip. Next hear about what Anne was up to while Kelli was away. First, to feel better post-election, Anne decided to get a head start decorating for Christmas. She also went shopping and to lunch with her mom, had a Christmas show rehearsal with her Musical Director Will which included a Mexican dinner out, drinking at a local dive bar and a massive hangover the next day! Don’t forget Anne’s upcoming annual Christmas show on Dec 4th at Green Room 42 in NYC. There are also LIVE STREAM tickets if you aren’t in NYC. You can find all of Anne’s tour dates and info at www.annesteele.com Then hear about their road trip across the desert from Las Vegas to Palm Springs which included stops at Cane’s for the best chicken fingers ever, a strange pit-stop at the Pioneer Saloon and a lovely drive through the desert. Once they arrived in Palm Springs, they checked into the new Thompson Hotel that is absolutely stunning and had diner at Tac/Quila. The next day was a show day for Anne so of course she wanted a sandwich from The Sandwich Spot. The show was a huge success and was filled with much needed love and acceptance. Next an after-party at Boozehounds, a brunch the next day at EIGHT4NINE, boozy shopping at Just Fabulous Palm Springs and dinner at Workshop. Finally, they flew home through delays and a very bumpy flight. After getting to sleep at 3am they both made it to their Dentist appointments, even against Kell’s will. Finally, they talk about reaching out to listeners and social media followers about their favorite small businesses to support this holiday season. Starting with Quix Chocolate, check out this Belgium chocolate shop based in Detroit and owned by an amazing gay couple, David and Tony. The chocolates are authentic, delicious and beautifully packaged. www.quixchocolate.com Next, check out Sniff a Pickle, a specialty customized merchandise store owned by their besties and husbands, Jon and Steve and based in Nyack, NY. They also have an online store and have their own line of specialty pickles too! www.sniffapickle.com Last week they talked about their former podcast guests, Gillian and Kim, that own the Asheville Bee Charmer. | EP 231 Kelli & Anne talk about loss and how to keep going through it all | 18 Oct 2024 | 00:59:33
Join Anne & Kelli for their 231st NEW episode of #ilovemywife podcast. They are again podcasting from home. This is a little bit of a heavy episode because they have been through a lot this past week. Kelli’s father Joel Safer passed away on Oct 9th. They were able to make it to Baton Rouge in time to be there when he passed unexpectedly. Anne was holding his hand when he slipped away peacefully without pain. This is a terrible loss to the family and to Kelli’s Mother Melanie. The good thing is that all of the siblings and their husbands and wives gathered together to support each other. Also, Joel gave his wife and children an amazing gift by planning his own arrangements. It really helped the family because it is so hard to think of planning when you are grieving. Overall, they are so lucky to have an amazing family and an awesome group of friends to help support each other though all of it. Next, they talk about losing their friend Gavin Creel. He was not only a brilliantly talented, Tony winning Broadway star and singer/songwriter, he was a kind, loving and incredibly supportive human. The world has lost a bright light that was gone way too soon at the age of 48. They will never forget the impact that Gavin made, not only on their lives, but on the world. May we all live the way he lived. They talk about finding a new apartment in Nyack, NY, their connection to that town via family and close friends and attending a fundraiser for the 45th Anniversary for the Center for Safety and Change, and organization that supports women and children in crisis in Rockland County, NY. Their friend, and former podcast guest Steven Carroll, is the Director of the Sexual Assault Forensic Examination Program at the Center and invited them to purchase tickets at his table for the fundraiser. They were so glad they attended because they were able to contribute to a cause they believe in and to help support women in their new community. They also talk about some lighter topics such as traveling to Cancun for a site visit at the Hilton All-Inclusive, family visits like dinner with their son Blake & daughter-in-law Teresa at Razza in Jersey City, driving to Delaware to take their daughter Vivi to lunch and having Anne’s musical director Will over for dinner and rehearsal for Anne’s upcoming Christmas show in NYC on Dec 4th and her show in Palm Springs on Nov 16th. They also chat about new haircuts, Instagram viral dinner options, their current TV binges, Anne’s upcoming Oceania Cruises gig and finally the upcoming election on Nov 5th!
