See the full video and all of the details here: https://youtu.be/1wrQ6Msp7wM
Overview of video: "If you’re comfortable but bored at your current position, you’re in the danger zone. Here are some ways to keep growing without leaving your company. Whitney Johnson, an executive coach and author of "Disrupt Yourself", says we give a lot of airtime to building disruptive products and services, to buying and/or investing in disruptive companies, and we should. Both are vital engines of economic growth. But, the most overlooked engine of growth is the individual. If you are really looking to move the world forward, begin by innovating on the inside, and disrupt yourself."
Recognized as one of the 50 leading business thinkers in the world (Thinkers50), Whitney Johnson (https://www.linkedin.com/in/whitneyjohnson) is an expert on disruptive innovation and personal disruption; specifically, a framework which she codifies in the critically acclaimed book Disrupt Yourself: Putting the Power of Disruptive Innovation to Work and in her latest book Build an "A" Team: Play To Their Strengths and Lead Them Up the Learning Curve. (Harvard Business Press, 2018). She is also the author of Dare, Dream, Do: Remarkable Things Happen When You Dare to Dream. She developed her proprietary framework and diagnostics after having cofounded the Disruptive Innovation Fund with Harvard Business School's Clayton Christensen. This framework is complemented by a deep understanding of how executives create and destroy value, having spent nearly a decade as an Institutional Investor ranked equity analyst on Wall Street. In addition to her work as a speaker and advisor, Whitney is one of Marshall Goldsmith's original cohort of 25 for the #100 Coaches Project, is a coach for Harvard Business School's Executive Education program, frequent contributor to the Harvard Business Review, is a Linkedin influencer, and hosts the weekly Disrupt Yourself Podcast.

| S24E6 - HBR Minute Rewind - China’s New Innovation Advantage, with Zak Dychtwald | 12 Sep 2021 | 00:22:42 | |
In this "HBR Minute Rewind" HCI Podcast episode, Dr. Jonathan H. Westover https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonathanhwestover/) explores the recent HBR video, "China’s New Innovation Advantage." See the video here: https://youtu.be/ump7Kge05ZE. Video Overview: "China is achieving a new level of global competitiveness, thanks to its hyper-adaptive population, says Zak Dychtwald, author of "Young China" and founder of Young China Group. The video covers the following points and questions: The future of the Chinese economy is in innovation. What’s behind China’s new innovation advantage? We shouldn’t be so focused on the innovators. Why do people in China adopt new technologies so readily? China is an outlier in a very important way. What’s so powerful about having all these early adopters? What can companies in other countries learn from China? To understand what’s powering the global rise of Chinese companies, we need to recognize that China now has at its disposal a resource that no other country has. That is: a vast population that has lived through unprecedented amounts of change and, consequently, has developed an astonishing propensity for adopting and adapting to innovations, at a speed and scale that is unmatched elsewhere on earth. It’s that aspect of China’s innovation ecosystem—its hundreds of millions of hyper-adoptive and hyper-adaptive consumers—that makes China so globally competitive today. In the end, innovations must be judged by people’s willingness to use them. And on that front China has no peer." In this "Inspiring TED Talks Rewind" HCI Podcast episode, Dr. Jonathan H. Westover (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonathanhwestover/) explores explores David Logan's famous 2009 TED Talk, "Tribal leadership." Check out the video here: https://www.ted.com/talks/david_logan_tribal_leadership. Video Overview: "It’s easy to think that as a species we have evolved far beyond the days of tribalism, but management consultant David Logan argues that effective leaders understand the 5 kinds of tribes that still crop up naturally in nearly any setting. Logan’s talk takes you through the 5 tribes, or stages, beginning with “Life sucks” and ending with “Life is great." David Logan (https://www.linkedin.com/in/davidlogan/) studies how people communicate within a company -- and how to harness our natural gifts to make change within organizations. He looks at emerging patterns of corporate leadership, organizational transformation, generational differences in the workplace, and team building for high-potential managers and executives. He's the co-founder and senior partner at CultureSync, a management consulting firm, and works with Fortune 500 companies, governments, and nonprofits. Much of CultureSync's work is derived from a ten-year study of over 24,000 people published at Tribal Leadership (2008), which shows how organizational culture evolves over time and how leaders can nudge it forward. He teaches management and leadership in the USC Executive MBA, and is also on the faculty at the International Centre for Leadership in Finance (ICLIF), endowed by the former prime minister of Malaysia, and on the Foundation for Medical Excellence in Portland. From 2001-2004, he served as Associate Dean of Executive Education at USC. During that time, he started the Master of Medical Management (MMM), a business degree for midcareer medical doctors. He also initiated new executive education programs (often, in concert with the USC School of Policy, Planning and Development) with organizations as diverse as the Sierra Health Foundation, Northrop Grumman, and the City of Los Angeles. He continued to oversee many programs, including one of USC's first distance learning education courses for managers in Japan and a senior executive program at Toyota. Logan is co-author of four books including Tribal Leadership and The Three Laws of Performance.

| S23E11 - As Seen on Forbes - Stay Curious: The Importance of Continually Asking Questions | 27 Aug 2021 | 00:11:11 | |
In this HCI Podcast episode, Dr. Jonathan H. Westover (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonathanhwestover/) shares his recent article on Forbes, "Stay Curious: The Importance Of Continually Asking Questions." See the article here: https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbescoachescouncil/2021/08/25/stay-curious-the-importance-of-continually-asking-questions/?sh=a20d9285e0f0. From the conclusion: "Intellectual humility is an essential characteristic of effective and impactful leadership. Certainty is a facade, and unless we foster curiosity and continually ask questions, our teams and organizations will stagnate and innovation and productivity will suffer. As we foster a growth and abundance mindset and create a psychologically safe environment where our people can speak up and challenge the status quo — and where checking biases and asking questions is actively encouraged — our organizations will thrive."
