We are finishing off our Hot Ghouls of Halloween series with a 3some and to help us out is screen editor/film critic and cornographer Justine Smith.

We will be looking at two female focused body horror films by french director Julia Ducournau; Raw (2016) and Titane (2021).

We also touch on the 1983 Austrian horror thriller Angst, which was banned in many countries on its release.

We're heading back to space to meet some old friends. We are close to our season finale and what better way than to check in on the franchise we started our first episode on with Aliens? This isn't game over but it sure is a good listen.

For Remembrance Day this year we reviewed the 2022 remake of All Quiet on the Western Front. Based on the 1929 novel of the same name by Erich Maria Remarque, the original 1930s film is considered the first significant anti war film.

Yea yea, Halloween is over but that didn't stop us from watch yet another horror movie. This time its sleeper scarefest Barbarian. 

This film is not for the faint of heart (still don't believe Kris actually watched it). We did are best not to spoil anything. So listen to this weeks show, then turn off the lights or even better, take yourself to the theater and get ready to never stay in an airbnb again.

Our third episode in our Hot Ghouls of Halloween series is Christophe Gans's atmospheric horror flick Silent Hill. Based on the 1999 video game of the same name, Silent Hill showcases the work of cinematographer Dan Laustsen (John Wick 2-4, The Shape of Water, Nightmare Alley). 

Speaking of hot ghouls, we had hot ghoul creator Andrea Hunter as our guest. Andrea is a world class horror photographer who has toured and shot for Canadian band Walk of the Earth and photo campaigns for Von D shoes (Ya that Von D).

With her studio in Hamilton, Ontario (steel town), she specialises in turning regular girls into hot ghoul horror pin ups and giving the occasional awkward boner (her words not ours).

First things first, there needs to be a rule about using the same title of a film so close to when someone else used it. So if you thought you were listening to a show about The Invitation 2022 haha suckers, you are not.

In the second episode of our Hot Ghouls of Halloween special we look at the work of horror director Karyn Kusama. You probably know her from Jennifer's Body which in retrospect is a very cool film.

Its that time a year again, when the seasons change; no not fall or autumn as the high faulting people say but the changing of the How'd You Like that Movie podcast seasons (duhh). 

Its season three and we are kicking off with a collection of episodes that Kris had to call Hot Ghouls of Halloween.  We will be talking horror films with female leads, female directors and at the end of the month woman that work in the horror industry of film and photography. 

First up is Pearl, the prequel to Ti Wests X (see our episode). Mia Goth reprises her role as Pearl (but the younger version) in this technolur slaser set in 1918.

On this week's episode we're talking The Woman King, which follows a band of fierce female warriors (Agojie) lead by an even fiercer General Nanisca; played by Viola Davis. It's the 1820s and they are the elite guard of the West African kingdom of Dahomey, tasked with keeping their kingdom safe from rivle clans and European slave traders.

To help us wade through these wild woman is our guest (and fierce female herself) filmmaker/actor Mary Galloway.

Mary is an award-winning, Cowichan and mixed settler descent, filmmaker, actor, who is paving the way for Indigi-queer content creation. 

Mary's web series Querencia was nominated for two Canadian Screen Awards  including the Audience Choice Award.
