On this episode of the how to hunt turkey podcast, I discuss some of my thoughts and memories of turkey encounters while deer hunting. I mention how I always seem to see the biggest gobblers in the fall, how turkeys spot you so easily in the tree stand and what I've learned about how much noise a flock of turkeys can make. I also tell the story of watching a deer chase turkeys around and I mention some things to look for and try if you decide to turkey hunt in the fall. I also dive into the conservation implications and ethics of fall hunting and the benefits of bringing a turkey call with you deer hunting.

On this episode I am joined by my wife Caroline Greer. While she may not be a turkey hunter she is married to one and we have a great conversation about teamwork, marriage and turkey hunting. Caroline grew up in Ontario and had family members who hunted so she is no stranger to it although she doesn't hunt much herself. She has, however been exposed to all sorts of hunting and fishing related things. Today I am joined by Gerard Van Den Boogaard, he is a hunting guide in Alberta and Ontario, Canada. Gerard grew up on a farm in a rural part of Canada, he was introduced to hunting at a young age and was hooked instantly. As he began hunting more and more he naturally transitioned into guiding his buddy's when he had tagged out. Years later he got in contact with Mike's Outfitting and started work as a guide for spring bear. This year Gerard started a new adventure, guiding for Turkeys in Ontario. On this episode I dive into the nitty gritty of my season. I think one of the most helpful things you can do after Turkey season is evaluate what you did right as well as what you did wrong. It helps you get locked in on what you need to be doing in the off season as well as what you need to practice and what gear needs changed or modified. Since his first bird at 12 Dink has killed turkeys in 31 states, Mexico and New Zealand.
