How to Get More Hotel Reviews: 5 Ways to Earn Five-Star Reviews
Why do some independent hotels consistently earn five-star reviews while others with equally good rooms struggle to get noticed?
The answer isn't necessarily a bigger renovation budget, lower prices, or more luxury.
Often, it's the small moments guests remember.
In this week's Hotelier Helpcast, Gerry MacPherson explores how to get more hotel reviews, improve your hotel guest experience, and build a reputation that gives future guests more confidence to book.
Five-star hotel reviews don't begin when somebody opens Google after getting home.
They're earned throughout the guest journey.
The welcome.
The conversation at breakfast.
The small detail somebody noticed.
The way a problem was handled.
And the final goodbye.
What You'll Learn
In this solo episode, Gerry explains:
· Why guests remember feelings more than facilities
· Why your reputation starts forming before check-in
· How expectations influence hotel reviews
· Why small personal touches can outperform expensive upgrades
· How to recover when something goes wrong
· A simple four-step approach to guest complaints
· Why hotel owners should regularly experience their own property as a first-time guest
· How the end of the stay can influence the guest's overall memory
· Why great reviews become powerful word-of-mouth marketing
Most importantly, this isn't about chasing perfection.
It's about noticing what matters.
One improvement.
Then another.
Over time, those small changes can create stronger guest experiences, better reviews, greater booking confidence, and a calmer way to improve your hotel.
