Fully Completely20 Oct 202601:18:37

Hotel Pacifico was created by Air Quotes Media with support from our presenting sponsor TELUS, as well as FortisBC, and the National Police Federation.

Geoff and Mike do the trifecta of Alberta referendum results, BC local election results, and the penultimate review of the BC election. Geoff acknowledges his hot dog deficit on the Alberta question, before the duo move on to BC local election results.  Mike and Geoff are barely COPE-ing with the Vancouver results, while the guy who “barely wants to do this” won in Kelowna.  The duo breeze through the local results but is it a breeze, or is that the gale force winds of change? On the BC election, Mike drops new Pollara Strategic Insight numbers. Mike and Geoff look at where things are at in the campaign and Mike forlornly discusses the deficit (again).  In the mini bar, the fridge is cold, and the takes are hot.  One more pre-election episode later this week.

To Mars and Back16 Oct 202601:17:49

Hotel Pacifico was created by Air Quotes Media with support from our presenting sponsor TELUS, as well as FortisBC, and CUPE BC.

Geoff studiously observed the TV Leaders’ debate this week while Mike was at the Bruno Mars concert, so Geoff even-handedly explained what happened. Mike didn’t come empty-handed as he revealed the latest poll results from Pollara Strategic Insights. The duo discussed the flurry of post-debate promises before shifting over to local politics. With local elections on October 17th, Mike and Geoff have one final review. Remember to vote! 🗳️

Post-Turkey, Pre-Debate13 Oct 202601:12:59

Hotel Pacifico was created by Air Quotes Media with support from our presenting sponsor TELUS, as well as FortisBC, and the National Police Federation.

Mike & Geoff surface from their respective Thanksgiving food comas to dish out the latest on the BC election and local government elections.  The duo review the emerging news that Premier Eby was a recipient of $10/day daycare and also dissect controversial comments made by the Conservative campaign manager. Healthcare, wealth taxes, and free WIFI on BC Ferries are also on the discussion menu, along with a preview of Wednesday’s televised Leaders’ debate. Mike & Geoff switch over to local elections and discuss the curiosities on the ballot on the South Island then size up the big city races in Vancouver and Surrey, before grazing through a long list of interesting match-ups they’ll be following through to Saturday the 17th when the local polls close.

Tax Me If You Can09 Oct 202601:10:38

Hotel Pacifico was created by Air Quotes Media with support from our presenting sponsor TELUS, as well as FortisBC, and CUPE BC.

Mike & Geoff release exclusive Pollara Strategic Insights topline results on the BC election.  Heading into Turkey Time, Geoff argues the NDP had a great week on campaign trail keeping the Conservatives on the defensive, while Mike wonders what the voters think about it.  With two weeks to go in the campaign, the duo debates the tax plans of the two major parties and what it means for the deficit, the economy, and, in the short run, the election. On to municipal elections, Mike & Geoff review the state of the Vancouver campaign then touch upon other hot races in Metro - Richmond, Delta, Surrey, and West Van.

Peace Out07 Oct 202601:18:00

Hotel Pacifico was created by Air Quotes Media with support from our presenting sponsor TELUS, as well as FortisBC, and the National Police Federation.

Geoff and Mike review the final candidate standings and remark up on the Green surge in the final 48 hours, bringing their ranks up to 73 candidates and a chair in the TV debate. The NDP, however, peaced out by failing to register a candidate in Peace River North, which means Mike owes Geoff a hot dog (but what kind of hot dog?) Also on the menu is eating the rich, a meal served up by Premier Eby. Geoff and Mike debate how much of an appetite voters will have for their recipe, and how Eby’s tax plan is less spicy than the jalapeño-laden tax platform put forward by Emily Lowan and the Greens.  More debate on health care and street disorder before the hosts moves on to target ridings and the seat by seat battleground.  Not merely satisfied with the BC election, Mike and Geoff stretch to the civic arena and discuss the Vancouver election.  Geoff’s recipe is un-Fry’ed as he has endorsed Rebecca Bligh. They touch on innovative lawn signs and ‘baseball cards’ in Kelowna and PG before touring hot races in Metro Vancouver suburbs. Also included, a tribute to former MLA and Attorney-General Colin Gabelmann.

Geoff finds himself in Victoria and Mike finds himself in Calgary as they review the week that was on the campaign trail. Gas tax and groceries promises and reaction to the oil pipeline announcement are on the menu. Mike and Geoff burrow into the candidate lists and wonder if the minor parties are going to show up to the ballot by the October 3rd deadline. The duo review some of the municipal races around BC.

Hotel Pacifico was created by Air Quotes Media with support from our presenting sponsor TELUS, as well as FortisBC.

Snap! Mike & Geoff navigate through the crackling changes in the BC political landscape that took place in the preceding 72 hours: the migration of MLAs to CentreBC, the resignation of KLF, the rise of Lorne Doerkson as BC Conservative leader, the return of (most) CentreBC MLAs to the Conservative caucus, and the ultimate call of the election for October 24th.  Mike & Geoff also discuss who’s in and who’s out.  It will be an exciting race between David Eby and Donald Trump, er, Lorne Doerkson and Hotel Pacifico will report on the campaign 2x/week.

"Pinot Nope" with Mike de Jong16 Sep 202601:02:00

Hotel Pacifico was created by Air Quotes Media with support from our presenting sponsor TELUS, as well as FortisBC.

Mike and Geoff welcome former BC Attorney-General and Finance Minister Mike de Jong for another visit to Hotel Pacifico.  De Jong tackles this week’s Quarterly Report that shows rising red ink and explains why he signed a letter, along with 10 other BC Attorneys-General in support of the Treaty process.  The talk inevitably leads to the Conservatives and where things are heading in BC politics, including in his home riding of Abbotsford-Mission.  Tempted to run in the by-election, the pinot noir would not oblige.

"25 and 34" with former B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell10 Jun 202601:16:23
