And…. We’re back!! After a two year (and some months) hiatus, the podcast is back. Sort of. In this episode, Ellie Collins and her husband Austin Collins share a life update on where they have been in the last two years and why the groups and basically everything else came to an abrupt stop.

Ellie shares how she felt God was inviting her to lay down Hope Reclaimed and the internal wrestle that came as a result. In the middle of grieving her ministry and preparing for the birth of her second child, Ellie received the tragic news that her sister had died. Heartbroken and vulnerable, Ellie knew she needed to surrender and release expectations, desires and her own plan for the joy of a new life – in more ways than one!

Phillipa is involved in establishing a therapy centre focussed on the holistic health of families. The centre offers parenting services, the Circle of Security parenting program, specialist counselling focussing on trauma and anxiety,  art and play therapy. She is passionate about the link between attachment, emotional connection and language.

Mark Halstensgard was given 10 days to live after being diagnosed with a severe case of Stevens-Johnson syndrome. After stressful and traumatic events such as divorce, self care is a must! However, it can be challenging to take the time and the energy to be kind to ourselves. In this episode, Ellie Herringshaw dialogues with returning guest, Mel Noel about self care, self compassion and identity. God is in the business of restoration! In this episode, Mike and Roxy Lynch share their story about how God healed their marriage after Mike had an affair several years ago. Roxy had the faith to believe that God would restore their marriage and that it would not end in divorce. Through constant prayer and community, God brought healing to their marriage.

Mike and Roxy Lynch

Mike and Roxy Lynch both grew up in the Minneapolis area. They were both Christians when they married in 1983. Seven months later, they moved to Atlanta GA where Mike started a successful career in sales. He had many prosperous years before the tide began to turn. Because of some bitterness and sin in Mikes life, things started falling apart. He grew cold toward God, and his marriage was crumbling.

11 years into the marriage and with 3 children, Mike had had enough and he left his wife and children for what he thought would be a better life. God had other plans. Mike’s wife Roxy would not allow the enemy to break up the family. She spent six months in constant prayer for him, trusting God to heal Mike, her and the family. Roxy also made a commitment to the Lord during this time that if He healed this marriage she would serve Him however and wherever He wanted.

After 4 months of separation, Roxy was led to an inner-city ministry in Atlanta called Blood-N-Fire ministries. While there God told her that the Pastor was the man she had been praying for to minister to Mike. Under the agreement with Roxy, that if he went to see this man one time she would sign the divorce papers, Mike went to visit with the Pastor once, which turned into every week. Over the next couple of months, much healing took place within Mike and he returned to his family a changed man of God. In the process, Roxy also had become a changed woman of God.

Mike and Roxy quickly became involved in the inner-city ministry and it didn’t take long to know they were called to be full time. Knowing this was ministry to the poor made it a difficult decision to make as there would be no salary. They would have to raise their own funds. Two years from first beginning to serve at BNF ministries Mike left his job and took the leap of faith. He began serving as administrator and an associate Pastor. This is where he and Roxy eventually received their ordinations.

Two years later, in 1999, God again asked them to take another leap of faith and do what neither of them wanted to do, sell all and move to Minnesota. A few months later,  after 17 years in Georgia they packed a truck and moved back to Minneapolis.

Since then They have co-founded a multi-million dollar a year ministry which has been giving to the poor and needy locally and around the world for 10 years now.

They left that organization in 2005 to begin another journey of faith. What they now do is multi faceted and includes things such as;

1. Receiving goods and sending them locally and around the world to orphanages and needy people.
2. Disaster relief around the Country. When disaster strikes, BNF Mpls, Muncie, IN, and San Antonio, TX, gather volunteers and rush to the area to cook meals and supply needs free of charge to the affected people. BNF always partners with a local church to help the local church grow through the love given in meeting the needs.
3. Locally we have trained many churches to do outreaches, lending them all the equipment needed free of charge (sound stage and equipment, and cooker, plus Mike cooks for most of them).

We have a passion to help wounded people walk into their freedom by walking closely with and mentoring them. This would include many married couples that we counsel through difficult times.

Each year we partner with Rock bottom foundation and toys for tots to feed 1000+ and give hundreds of kids toys on Christmas Eve and Christmas day

Mike has begun to visit the Poor Indian tribes in South Dakota blessing them with much needed food and clothing

There are many other small and big things that arise and we do. We do all to the Glory of God and not us or the ministry. We feel our call and mission is to raise the arms of whoever needs us at the time whether it be to one person or thousands. We are always willing and waiting on God to bring the next mission.

It has been 16 years of trusting God for the finances to do all these missions. He has never let us down. There is always enough for today, but we rarely know where are funds are coming from to supply the needs for tomorrow.

In this latest episode of Hope Reclaimed, Ellie Collins interviews Anna Braasch. After struggling with infertility, Anna and her husband decided to take steps to adopt. However, Anna soon discovered that she never really processed the grief and disappointment of infertility. After doing deep heart work, Anna is able to continue to give that grief to the Lord and parent her children well.

Anna’s Bio

Anna Braasch is passionate about encouraging parents who are struggling in their parenting journey. She brings her “in the trenches” personal experience to her speaking: infertility, adoption, attachment and parenting struggles, and loads of grace and healing. Anna has been married to her best friend, Grant, for almost 25 years. They have two beautiful children (Alex – 16, and Almaz – 15) and a goldendoodle named Fozzie. At Connected Families, Anna serves as Executive Director. At home, she serves as cook, cleaner, driver, and cuddler.

In this episode, Ellie Herringshaw interviews Mel Noel about healing and restoration from domestic violence and divorce. Mel’s process has been focusing on forgiveness, believing that God is good and having an understanding of her own identity has a daughter of God. November 30th, 2018, Ellie Herringshaw’s grandmother, Verlie Miller passed away. To honor her life and legacy, The Rclaimed Podcast is rereleasing Verlie’s interview from September, 2018 (episode 19). In this episode, Verlie shares about love, marriage and grieving the death of her husband Alvin Miller in 2012.

Verlie’s Obituary:

“Verlie Eva (Branstner) Miller, born on January 18, 1924 in Hewitt, Minnesota, passed away at age 94 on November 30, 2018 in Vadnais Heights, Minnesota. Preceded in death by her husband, Alvin and eleven siblings. Survived by children, Morris (Diane), Beverlie (John) Warling, Jacalyn (Dan) Ogren, Merv (Lisa), and Jill (Mark) Herringshaw; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great-great-grand-daughter; sisters, Lila, Alice, and Ruby; many nieces and nephews. Memorials preferred to Payne Evangelical Free Church- ROC (Rooted on Christ) an inner-city children’s ministry. This is why ‘it was credited to him as righteousness.”

Malachi 2:14-16 “For I hate divorce!” says the Lord, the God of Israel. “To divorce your wife is to overwhelm her with cruelty,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. “So guard your heart; do not be unfaithful to your wife.”

Matt 5:31-32 “It was also said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’32 But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.”

In this episode, Ellie Herringshaw interviews her 94 year old grandmother Verlie Miller. Verlie was married to Alvin Miller for 67 years before he passed away in 2012. “Somehow between recalling what was actually true of the condition of Eric’s heart and letting it come through my mouth, I got all the details mixed up for the podcast recording. Here are the actual details about Eric’s heart condition:

Eric was born with a condition known as Transposition of the Great Arteries. This means that the two major arteries that lead away from the heart were transposed or “switched.” This had to be corrected with a surgery called a Fontan Procedure, which he had at 3 years old. In this corrective surgery the two ventricles of the heart were allowed to combine to do what would normally be one ventricle’s job. Blood is not pumped directly by the heart to the lungs. Some would say the blood ‘falls’ into the lungs (gravity), but it’s mostly the pressure in the veins that gets it there.”
