Maternity Leave and Private Practice with Mary Bech Somich
Épisode 25
mercredi 11 août 2021 • Durée 45:55
In this episode I am joined by fellow private practice owner and new mama, Mary Beth Somich from @yourjourneythrough!
Mary Beth just recently had her first baby and today we're talking about her transition into motherhood as a business owner and therapist. We explore how she disclosed her pregnancy with clients, how she prepared for maternity leave as a private practice owner, and the logistical and emotional transition back to work after baby.
Mary Beth and I share some of our personal experiences with maternity leave as therapists and we both offer our own tangible tips for anyone else who is preparing to do the same or in the thick of it.
This episode is a combination of two of the things I am most passionate about (supporting mamas and supporting therapists) and I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did.

Setting Your Fee with Josie Rosario, LMSW
Épisode 24
mercredi 26 mai 2021 • Durée 52:21
For many therapists in private practice, we start setting our fee based on outside data...what are other therapists charging in my area?? Or, what are clients going to be willing to pay for my services??
While this information can be helpful, we also have to be able to first and foremost look INWARD when setting our fee. We need to determine our own needs, the needs of our business, and to consider the incredible value that we bring to our client's lives.
I am so excited to share this conversation I had with fellow therapist, Josie Rosario. Josie is a LMSW and business coach and we are exploring some things you want to consider when setting your fee in private practice. We also talk about different business models and how to know whether things like sliding scale or accepting insurance is the right fit for you and your business. We also explore how to remain accessible while also having a healthy and thriving business.
You can learn more about Josie and access her resources at @thehealingstrategy and @josierosarionyc

Perfectionism and Private Practice with Dr. Jen Douglas
Épisode 23
mercredi 19 mai 2021 • Durée 54:16
...any other recovering perfectionists here? I know I am! Perfectionism has had a way of coming up in many different aspects of my life...education, motherhood, etc. But, I have also found it to be incredibly prevalent when it comes to my work as a therapist and my life as an entrepreneur.
As we know, our work as therapists can be incredibly nuanced, ambiguous at times, and messy. These are all things that our friend Perfectionism is not too fond of. Perfectionism wants to find control. It wants things to feel linear. And, our inner perfectionist wants that gold star at the end of a good session with a client. But unfortunately, that often isn't how it works in our field or in entrepreneurship.
That's why this week I'm having Dr. Jen Douglas come onto the podcast to talk about how we can create a new relationship with perfectionism. In this episode we talk about the impact of perfectionism as therapists and business owners. We talk about the impact of comparison and the curated highlight reel on social media. And, Dr. Jen shares with us ways in which we can better connect with our true values, how we can embrace our imperfection, and how we can use perfectionism to help us identify what is really important to us.

Imposter Syndrome with Dr. Kelly Vincent
Épisode 22
mercredi 12 mai 2021 • Durée 54:12
Imposter Syndrome is bound to come up at different stages of our careers as therapists. It definitely has a tendency to come up when we're new therapists and just starting out, but these feelings and fears can show up even further down the road. Maybe you're starting your private practice or maybe you're creating a brand new offering...anytime we're feeling new and inexperienced with something, in comes our friend Imposter Syndrome.
There's no one else I would love to explore this topic with more than Dr. Kelly Vincent. Kelly is a licensed psychologist and the creator on her popular Instagram account, @dr.kellyvincent, where she focuses a lot of her content and psychoeducation on Imposter Syndrome.
In this episode we explore the origins of imposter syndrome and what impact it can have on therapists throughout their careers. In addition, Kelly shares tips and ways in which we can reframe and form a different relationship with imposter syndrome.

This week I am excited to welcome Lindsay Bryan-Podvin onto the podcast. Lindsay is an LMSW and Financial Therapist.
