We referenced the following Biblical passages: Luke 17: 11-19. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Jesus. Who is the Son of God and the Savior of the World. Jesus did many amazing things while He was on earth. One day he was traveling to Jerusalem and was going through a village when ten men who had leprosy came to him. Now in the time Jesus lived, leprosy was a terrible sickness that could be caught very easily. Because of this, people with leprosy were sent outside of the places that they lived. They were called unclean and no one wanted to be close to them. But when these men who had leprosy saw Jesus coming, they called out to him and said, “Jesus, have mercy on us!” And Jesus saw them and said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were healed and had leprosy no more! When one of the men saw that he was healed, he came back to Jesus shouting, “Praise God!” He thanked Jesus for what He had done. Jesus asked, “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give glory to God except this Samaritan?” Then Jesus said to the man, “Stand up and go. Your faith has healed you.” And so the man was healed because he had faith and he was thankful for what Jesus had done for him.

We referenced the following Biblical passages: Luke 7:36-50. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Jesus. Who is the Son of God And the Savior of the World. While Jesus was on earth, he taught everyone about God’s love, he healed many people from their sickness, performed many miracles like calming storms, and even raised people from the dead. There were a group of Jewish leaders called the Pharisees who heard Jesus speak often. One of the Pharisees, named Simon, asked Jesus to have dinner with him. So Jesus went over to his house and a certain sinful woman heard that he was eating there. She went to the house and brought a jar filled with expensive perfume. She kelt at Jesus’ feet and cried. Her tears fell on his feet and she wiped them with her hair. She kissed his feet and put the perfume on them. Simon saw this and said to himself, “If this man really were a prophet, he’d know what kind of woman is touching him. She’s a sinner!” Then Jesus said, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” And he told him this story - “A man loaned money to two people—500 pieces of silver to one and 50 pieces to the other. But neither of them could repay him, so he kindly forgave them both, canceling their debts. Who do you suppose loved him more after that?” Simon said that he guessed that one who owed him more loved him more. Jesus said, “That’s right.” Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Look at this woman kneeling here. When I entered your home, you didn’t offer me water to wash the dust from my feet, but she has washed them with her tears and wiped them with her hair.” “I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.” Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven.” The men at the table said among themselves, “Who is this man, that he goes around forgiving sins?” And Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

At this time the Jewish people were getting ready to celebrate a festival called Passover that had been celebrated since the time of Moses, when God brought his people out of Egypt. Two days before the Passover Jesus was in Bethany at the home of Simon, a man who had previously had leprosy. While Jesus was eating, a woman came in with a beautiful jar of expensive perfume. She broke the jar open and poured perfume over Jesus’ head. Jesus’ disciples were upset when the saw this. They said, “What a waste! It could have been sold for a high price and the money given to the poor.” So they scolded the woman. But Jesus said, “Leave her alone. Why criticize her for doing such a good thing to me? You will always have the poor among you, and you can help them whenever you want to. But you will not always have me. She has poured this perfume on me to prepare my body for burial. I tell you the truth, wherever the Good News is preached throughout the world, this woman’s deed will be remembered.”

We referenced the following Biblical passages: John 4:4-42. One day, Jesus was on his way to Galilee and had to pass through Samaria. Jesus came to a Samaritan village and stopped at a well to rest. His disciples went to the village to buy some food, so Jesus was alone. At about noon, a Samaritan woman came to the well to get water. Jesus said to her, “Please give me a drink.” The woman was surprised because Jesus was a Jew and Jews refused to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said, “You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?” Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.” The woman was confused and asked where Jesus would get water like that when he didn’t even have a bucket to pull water from the well. Jesus said to her, “Those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” The woman asked Jesus for this water so she would never be thirsty again. Jesus then showed the woman that he knew things about her that she never told him, and the woman said, “You must be a prophet!” Then she asked Jesus why Samaritans worshipped in one place while Jews worshipped in another place. Jesus told her that there would be a time coming when it wouldn’t matter where people worshipped. He said, “The time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.” The woman said, “I know the Messiah is coming—the one who is called Christ. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” Jesus told her, “I am the Messiah!” Just then Jesus’ disciples came back. They were shocked to find him talking to a woman, but they were too nervous to ask him why. The woman ran back to the village and told everyone to come see Jesus. She said, “He told me everything I ever did! Could he possibly be the Messiah?” Many Samaritans from the village believed in Jesus because of what the woman had said. When they came out to see him, they begged him to stay. So he stayed for two days and many more heard what he had to say and believed in him. Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe, not just because of what you told us, but because we have heard him ourselves. Now we know that he is indeed the Savior of the world.”

Jesus went to Jerusalem to celebrate. Jesus and His disciples were having the Passover meal together. Jesus told them many things of what was to come and the trials they would face. Then Jesus told his disciples that he is like the true grapevine and God is the gardener. God will cut off any branch that doesn’t produce fruit. He will also prune a branch, so it can produce more fruit. Jesus told his disciples that God had already done this to them because of what Jesus had taught them. Jesus said, “Remain in me and I will remain with you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is cut off from the vine.” Then he said, “Yes I am the vine and you are the branches.” He told them that if they continued to have a relationship with him, they would produce much fruit. But if they didn’t continue to have a relationship with him, they would wither away. Branches that wither away like that are thrown into the fire. Jesus said that if his disciples remained in him that they would be able to ask anything in Jesus name and it would be given. They would bear much fruit, and this would bring great glory to God. Then Jesus said that he loved his disciples as God the Father loved him. He told his disciples to remain in his love by obeying his commandments. Then he gave them a new commandment – to love each other in the same way that he loved them. Jesus told his disciples that they were his friends. He said, “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” He told them all this so that they would have great joy!

He said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down! I must stay at your house today.” Zacchaeus came down quickly. He was pleased to have Jesus in his house. All the people saw this and began to complain, “Look at the kind of man Jesus stays with. Zacchaeus is a sinner!” But Zacchaeus said to Jesus, “I will give half of my money to the poor. If I have cheated anyone, I will pay that person back four times more!” Jesus said, “Salvation has come to this house today. This man truly belongs to the family of Abraham. The Son of Man came to find lost people and save them.”

We referenced the following Biblical passages: Matthew 25:14-30. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Jesus who is the Son of God and the Savior of the world. While Jesus was on earth, He healed many people from their sickness and did many miracles like walking on water. Jesus was sitting at the Mount of Olives with his disciples and teaching them about the kingdom of God. Jesus told his disciples a story. He told them that the kingdom of heaven would be like man going on a trip, who asked three servants to take care of his money. The man gave each of his servants different amounts of money according to their ability. To one of his servants, he gave five bags of money, he gave another two bags, and he gave the third servant one bag of money. Then he went on his trip. The man who had been given five bags of money invested the money and gained five more bags. The servant with two bags of money did the same and got two more bags of money. But the man who had one bag of money put it in a hole and hid the money. After a long time, the man came back from his trip and checked in with his servants to see what they had done with his money. The servant who was given five bags of money showed that he had gained five more. And the man said, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You did well with small things. So I will let you care for much greater things.” Then the servant with two bags of money showed that he had gained two more. And the man was happy and said well done to the servant. Then the servant who hid the money showed the man the one bag of money and said that he had hidden it because he was afraid. The man said, “You wicked, lazy servant!” He said that he should have at least put the money in the bank to get interest. Then he threw out the servant so he would serve him no more. And the man took the money from the servant and gave it to the servant with ten bags. For he said, “Everyone who uses what he has will get more. He will have much more than he needs. But the one who does not use what he has will have everything taken away from him.”

We referenced the following Biblical passages: Luke 14: 12-24. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. One day, Jesus went to eat at the house of a Pharisee. He said to the Pharisee who was hosting the meal, “When you give a dinner, do not invite your friends, your family, or your rich neighbors. For they will invite you back, and that will be your only reward. But invite the poor and those who have trouble seeing and walking. Then God will reward you for inviting those who could not repay you.” When a man at the table heard what Jesus said, he said to Jesus, “What a blessing it will be to attend a banquet in the Kingdom of God!” Jesus replied with a story: A man prepared a great feast and sent out many invitations. When the banquet was ready, he sent his servant to tell the guests, “Come, the banquet is ready.” But they all began making excuses. One said, “I have just bought a field and must inspect it. Please excuse me.” Another said, “I have just bought five pairs of oxen, and I want to try them out. Please excuse me.” Another said, “I just got married, so I can’t come.” The servant returned and told his master what they had said. His master was furious and said, “Go quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and invite the poor, and those who have trouble seeing and walking.” After the servant had done this, he reported, “There is still room for more.” So his master said, “Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full. For none of those I first invited will get even the smallest taste of my banquet.”

We referenced the following Biblical passages: Luke 15:11–32. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Jesus. Who is the Son of God And the Savior of the World. While Jesus was on earth he healed many people from their sickness, performed many miracles like calming storms, and even raised people from the dead. Jesus taught everyone about God’s love. All kinds of people would come to hear Jesus speak including tax collectors and people who made bad choices. This made the Pharisees and Jewish leaders mad. They didn’t think that Jesus should be around these kinds of people. So Jesus told them this story - A man had two sons. The younger son told his father, “I want my share of your estate now before you die.” So his father agreed and gave his son his inheritance. A few days later this younger son packed all his belongings and moved to a distant land, and there he wasted all his money in wild living. About the time his money ran out, a great famine swept over the land, and he began to starve. He convinced a local farmer to hire him, and the man sent him into his fields to feed the pigs. The young man became so hungry that even the food he was feeding the pigs looked good to him. But no one gave him anything. Finally he said to himself, “At home even the servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger! I will go home to my father and apologize and ask him to take me on as a servant.” So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son. His son said to him, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son.” But his father said to the servants, “Quick! Bring the finest robe in the house and put it on him. Get a ring for his finger and sandals for his feet. And kill the calf we have been fattening. We must celebrate with a feast, for this son of mine was dead and has now returned to life. He was lost, but now he is found.” So the party began. Meanwhile, the older son was in the fields working. When he returned home, he heard music and dancing in the house, and he asked one of the servants what was going on. “Your brother is back,” he was told, “and your father has killed the fattened calf. We are celebrating because of his safe return.” The older brother was angry and wouldn’t go in. His father came out and begged him, but he replied, “All these years I’ve slaved for you and never once refused to do a single thing you told me to. And in all that time you never gave me even one young goat for a feast with my friends. Yet when this son of yours comes back after wasting your money, you celebrate by giving him a great feast!” His father said to him, “Look, dear son, you have always stayed by me, and everything I have is yours. We had to celebrate this happy day. For your brother was dead and has come back to life! He was lost, but now he is found!”

So he took every opportunity to teach people about God’s heart. One day a religious expert stood up to test Jesus by asking him this question: “Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus replied, “What does the law say?” The man answered, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” “Right!” Jesus told him. “Do this and you will live!” The man then asked, “And who is my neighbor?” Jesus replied with a story: “A Jewish man was traveling from Jerusalem down to Jericho, and he was attacked by bandits. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him up, and left him half dead beside the road. By chance a priest came along. But when he saw the man lying there, he crossed to the other side of the road and passed him by. Another man who worked in the temple who was called a Levite walked over and looked at him lying there, but he also passed by on the other side. Then a Samaritan came along. Samaritans were hated by Jews, they were seen as lesser people and Jews would not interact with them. But when the Samaritan saw the man, he felt compassion for him. Going over to him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them. Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him. The next day he handed the innkeeper two silver coins, telling him, ‘Take care of this man. If his bill runs higher than this, I’ll pay you the next time I’m here.’ “Now which of these three would you say was a neighbor to the man who was attacked by bandits?” Jesus asked. The man replied, “The one who showed him mercy.” Then Jesus said, “Yes, now go and do the same.”

We referenced the following Biblical passages: Luke 8: 4-15, Matthew 13: 1-9, 18-23, and Mark 4: 1-20. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. One day Jesus went and sat beside the sea. A great crowd gathered around him, so he got in a boat and told them many things in parables. He told them this story - A farmer went out to plant some seed. As he scattered it across his field, some of the seed fell on a footpath, where it was stepped on, and the birds came and ate it. Other seed fell on shallow soil among rocks. The seed began to grow quickly because the soil was shallow. But the plant soon wilted under the hot sun, and since it didn’t have deep roots, it died. Other seed fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants. Still other seed fell on fertile soil. This seed grew and produced a crop that was a hundred times as much as had been planted! When Jesus had said this, he called out, “Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.” Later, the disciples came to Jesus and asked what this parable meant. Jesus said, “The farmer plants seed by taking God’s word to others. The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message, only to have Satan come at once and take it away. The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are treated badly for believing God’s word. The seed that fell among the thorns represents others who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the desire for other things. And the seed that fell on good soil represents those who hear and accept God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”

We referenced the following Biblical passages: Matthew 4:18-22, Luke 5:1-11, and Mark 1:16-20. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Jesus who is the Son of God and the Savior of the World. Jesus grew up in Nazareth and was baptized by John in the Jordan River. Jesus began teaching about God’s love and healing people of their sickness. One day, John saw Jesus walking by and told the people around him that Jesus was the Lamb of God. One of the people standing with him was Andrew, whose brother was Simon who would later be known as Peter. Andrew went to find his brother and said, “We have found the Christ!” Simon went with Andrew and met Jesus. Jesus looked at Simon and said, “Your name is Simon, son of John - but you will be called Peter.” On another day, Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee and lots of people crowded around him to hear what He had to say. Jesus noticed two empty boats for Andrew and Peter had left them and were washing their nets. Jesus stepped into one of the boats and asked Peter to take him out into the sea. So He sat in the boat and taught the crowds from there. When He had finished speaking, He said to Peter, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.” But Peter said, “We worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear! They called to some other fishermen for help and soon both boats were filled with fish. When Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, “Oh, Lord, please leave me—I’m such a sinful man.” Jesus replied to Peter, “Don’t be afraid! Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” And as soon as they landed, they left their nets and followed Jesus. So Simon Peter became one of Jesus’ 12 disciples and followed his friend Jesus throughout his time on earth.

Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. These are Jesus’ Disciples. They were men who followed Jesus during his time on earth. There were 12 disciples. Some were fishermen like Peter, Andrew, James, and John. Some were tax collectors like Matthew. Some were even brothers like Peter and Andrew or James and John. These 12 men saw Jesus do amazing things like calming storms, turning water into wine, healing people from sickness, helping people who were blind see, making people who couldn’t walk, walk, and even raising people from the dead. They heard Jesus teach about God’s love and tell stories that taught them and others about the kingdom of heaven. Jesus would often turn to them and teach them what these stories meant. Of the 12 disciples, there were three that were the closest to Jesus. Their names were Peter, James, and John. These three got to see Jesus do miracles that others did not. They even got to see him transformed on a mountain and got to see Jesus’ face shine with the glory of God. On the night he was arrested, one of Jesus’ disciples named Judas betrayed Jesus. The disciples were with Jesus before he was arrested. They were afraid when he was taken and put to death on the cross. They hid and didn’t know what to do until they heard that Jesus was alive! For 40 days, Jesus appeared to the disciples. Jesus showed them and others that he was truly alive. He told his disciple Thomas that he could touch the marks from the cross on his hands and side so he would know that it was really Jesus. Jesus promised his disciples that he would send them the Holy Spirit to be their helper. He told his disciples to go and make disciples of all nations. Then Jesus went to heaven. The disciples waited, just as Jesus told them, for the Holy Spirit to come. And the Holy Spirit did come and fill them with power. They went to teach the new disciples to obey all the commands Jesus had given them and baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Some wrote letters to the new churches to encourage them and teach them about God’s commands. Some of the disciples like Matthew and John wrote down the stories of Jesus’ time on earth so that all who read the words would believe that Jesus was the Messiah, the Son of God. The disciples went on to tell the good news of Jesus wherever they went, and many of the people they shared with came to believe and follow Jesus. The disciples started the church and were persecuted because of their faith, but they never stopped preaching about Jesus.

And God showed John that Jesus was his Chosen One. Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness among the wild animals to be tempted by Satan. For forty days and forty nights, Jesus didn’t eat anything. So he was hungry. Satan came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus knew God’s word and so he answered, “No! The Word of God says, ‘People don’t live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” And so Jesus passed the first test. Then Satan took him to Jerusalem and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the Word of God says, ‘He will order his angels to protect you. And they will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.’” But Jesus said, “The Word of God also says, ‘You must not test the Lord your God.’” And so Jesus passed the second test. So Satan took him to the peak of a high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and all their glory. Satan said, “I will give it all to you if you kneel down and worship me.” But Jesus said, “Get out of here, Satan. For the Word of God says, “You must worship the Lord your God and serve only Him.” Then Satan went away and angels came and took care of Jesus. And so Jesus passed the third and last test because he knew the Word of God.

We referenced the following Biblical passages: Esther 3-5. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Esther who was Jewish orphan who lived in Persia during the reign of King Xerxes. Esther was adopted by her relative, Mordecai who worked in the palace of the king. Once Mordecai had even saved the king’s life. Esther became the queen of Persia, but no one knew that she was a Jew because Mordecai told her to keep it a secret. This is Haman who was the second most powerful man in Persia. Haman hated Mordecai because Mordecai wouldn’t bow down to him. So Haman convinced King Xerxes to make a decree to kill all Mordecai’s people, the Jews. When Mordecai learned about this, he was very upset as were all the Jews in Persia. When Queen Esther’s servants came and told her about how upset Mordecai was, she sent one of her servants, Hathach, to go to Mordecai and find out what was troubling him. So Hathach went out to Mordecai and Mordecai told him of the plan to kill God’s people. Mordecai said that he wanted Esther to go to the king to ask for him to save the Jews. Esther knew that anyone who went to the king without being called could be put to death. But Mordecai reminded Esther that she may have been made queen for such a time as this. So Esther asked for the Jews to pray for her and fast for three days. Then Esther put on her royal robes and went before the king. When the King saw Esther, he was happy to see her and asked, “What do you want, Queen Esther? I will give it to you, even if it is half the kingdom!” So Esther asked the king if he and Haman would come to a banquet that she had prepared for them and the king agreed. Esther held a banquet and then asked the king and Haman to come to a second banquet the next night. That night, the king was reminded of how Mordecai had once saved his life. King Xerxes decided that he must honor Mordecai and that Haman would help. Then at the second banquet, Esther told the king about the plot against her people. The king was angry and asked, “Who would do such a thing?” Esther said it was Haman and the king ordered Haman to be killed on that very night. But the decree to kill all the Jews was still in place and the Jew’s were still in danger. So Mordecai asked the king to issue a new decree so that the Jews could defend themselves. The king did and the Jews defeated all their enemies. God’s people were saved and celebrated their great victory!

We referenced the following Biblical passages: Daniel 6. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Daniel who was a Jewish man who was taken to Babylon when he was very young. Daniel loved God and followed God’s rules. He talked to God three times a day and asked God for help often. Daniel served in the Babylonian king’s court for many years and under many kings. Daniel always proved himself to be more capable than all the other court officials. Daniel was serving under King Darius and because of his great abilities, the king made plans to place him in charge of the entire empire. The other court officials searched for some fault in Daniel, but they couldn’t find anything wrong with him. He was faithful, responsible and completely trustworthy. The court officials realized the only way to get at Daniel would be to challenge his faith. So they went to King Darius and advised him to make a law that for the next thirty days any person who prays to anyone except king Darius will be thrown into the lion’s den. King Darius signed this law and once a Babylonian king signed a law, it could not be overruled. When Daniel learned of this law, he went home and knelt down as he always did to pray in his room with the windows open towards Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he always had done, giving thanks to God and asking for His help. The officials went to Daniel’s house and found him praying. They went to the king and reminded him of the law. Then they said that Daniel had been found praying to God three times a day. When the king heard this, he was very upset and he spent the whole day trying to think of a way to save Daniel. By that evening the court officials came back to the king and reminded him that no law signed by the Babylonian king could be overruled. So at last, the king gave orders for Daniel to be thrown into the lion’s den. The king said to him, “May your God, whom you serve faithfully, rescue you.” Then the lion’s den was sealed shut with Daniel inside. The king spent the night fasting and couldn’t sleep. Then very early in the morning, the king hurried to the lion’s den. He called out, “Daniel! Was your God able to rescue you from the lions?” And Daniel answered, “Long live the king! My God sent his angel to shut the lions’ mouths so that they would not hurt me, for I have been found innocent in his sight.” The king was overjoyed and ordered that Daniel be taken out of the lion’s den. Then the king ordered the men who had schemed against Daniel to be thrown in the lion’s den as punishment. Daniel was safe, there was not a scratch on him, for he trusted in God.

We referenced the following Biblical passages: Daniel 3. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. There once were three Jewish men named Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. When they were very young, they were taken from Israel to live in a place called Babylon. At that time the king of Babylon was a man named Nebuchadnezzar and he made a gold statue that was ninety feet tall. The king sent a message for everyone to come to the dedication of his statue. When everyone had assembled, it was declared that people of all races, nations, languages would bow before the statue and worship King Nebuchadnezzar’s statue when they heard the sound of musical instruments. If anyone refused, they would be thrown into a fiery furnace. So at the sound of the musical instruments, all the people bowed to the ground and worshipped. But Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did not because they were Jewish and would only bow to the one, true God. Some of the wise men of Babylon went to the king and told him that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow to the statue. This made the king very angry and he asked Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego if it was true that they would not bow to the statue. Then he said that he would give them one more chance to bow down, and if they did not bow they would be thrown into the fire. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied that they didn’t need to defend themselves against the king. They said, “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.” The king was so angry with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego that he commanded the furnace to be heated seven times hotter than usual. Then he ordered Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to be bound and thrown in the fire. The fire was so hot that it killed the soldiers that threw them in. So Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego fell into the flames. But suddenly, the king jumped up and said to his advisors, “Didn’t we tie up three men and throw them in the furnace?” The advisors said yes, but the king said, “Look! I see four men walking around the fire unharmed! And the fourth looks like a god!” Then the king shouted to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, “Come out!” So Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stepped out of the fire and everyone saw that the fire had not touched them, they didn’t even smell of smoke. Then Nebuchadnezzar praised the one, true God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego who had rescued them from the fire. And the king made a new command that anyone who spoke a word against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego would be greatly punished. Then he promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in his court. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego trusted in God and were willing to die rather than worship any god but their own God.

We referenced the following Biblical passages: Daniel 2. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Daniel who was a Jewish man who was taken to Babylon when he was very young. Daniel served in the king’s service as a wise man. The king of Babylon was a man named Nebuchadnezzar, and one night he had such disturbing dream that he couldn’t sleep. He called in some of the wise men of his kingdom and demanded that they tell him what he had dreamed. The wise men said, “Tell us the dream and we will tell you what it means.” But the king told them that they must tell him what the dream was and what it meant. If they did, they would be rewarded, but if they didn’t they would be severely punished. The wise men asked again for the king to tell them what the dream was and then they would tell him what it meant. But the king wanted them to tell him what the dream was. The wise men said that the king’s request was impossible and that no one except the gods can tell someone a dream. The king was furious when he heard this and ordered that all the wise men of Babylon be killed. Because of the king’s decree, men were sent to find and kill Daniel and his friends. When the men arrived, Daniel asked why the king had ordered such a thing. The men told Daniel what happened with the king’s dream and Daniel went at once to the king to ask for time to tell the king what his dream meant. Then Daniel told his friends - Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego - to pray to God to show them the secret of the king’s dream. That night, God showed Daniel secret of the dream in a vision. Daniel praised God for this and then was taken to the king. Daniel said, “There are no wise men, enchanters, magicians, or fortune-tellers who can reveal the king’s secret. But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and he has shown King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in the future. Now I will tell you your dream and the visions you saw as you lay on your bed.” And so Daniel told the king what his dream was and what it meant. The king bowed before Daniel and praised him. The king said to Daniel, “Truly, your God is the greatest of gods, a revealer of mysteries for you have been able to reveal this secret.” Then the king promoted Daniel to be the chief of all the wise men and also promoted his friends - Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego - in the king’s court.

Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Daniel who was a Jewish man who was taken to Babylon when he was very young. The king of Babylon was a man named Nebuchadnezzar, and he ordered Ashpenaz, his chief of staff, to bring some of the young men of Judah who were strong, healthy, and good looking to the palace. He wanted these men to be smart, and they would be trained for three years in the language and books of Babylon so they could serve the king. The king also ordered that they would be given food and drink from his own kitchens daily. Daniel and his three friends - Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego - were four of the young men chosen from the tribe of Judah to enter the king’s training. But Daniel chose not to eat the food and drink given by the king because it was food that God had told his people not to eat. Daniel asked Ashpenaz for permission to not eat this food. Ashpenaz liked Daniel, but he told him that he was afraid that if Daniel didn’t eat the food that the king ordered, that he would become weak compared to the other young men, and that would get Ashpenaz in trouble with the king. Daniel asked his attendant if he and his three friends could eat a diet of only vegetables and water for ten days and then be tested to see how they compared to the other young men. The attendant agreed. At the end of ten days, Daniel and his three friends looked healthier and better nourished than the young men who had been eating the king’s food. So after that, the attendant fed them only vegetables instead of the food and drink provided for the others. God gave these four young men wisdom and a special understanding for things. God gave Daniel the ability to interpret visions and dreams. When the three years of training was over, all the young men were brought before the king, but no one impressed the king as much as Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. So the four men entered the king’s service and whenever the king asked them about something, he found them more capable than any of the other wise men in his kingdom.

We referenced the following Biblical passages: 2 Kings 22. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Josiah. Josiah became king of Israel when he was only 8 years old! Now the country of Israel had a very long line of kings who did many bad things, including Josiah’s father and grandfather. These kings did not follow after God and they ignored His commandments and His law. But when Josiah became king, he did what God wanted him too and followed the example of King David. Eighteen years after Josiah became king, he sent one of his court secretary, Shaphan, to God’s temple. Many of the kings before Josiah did not take good care of God’s house, so it was in need of repair. While they were in the temple, Hikiah the high priest said to Shaphan, “I have found the book of the law in the Lord’s Temple!” So Shaphan took the scroll back to king Josiah and read it to him. When Josiah heard what was in the book, he was greatly upset because the people of Israel were not doing the things that God asked them to do, and Josiah knew that God must be angry with Israel for not obeying his commandments. Josiah gathered together all the people of Israel to the temple and read the entire book of the covenant to them. That very day Josiah and all the people promised that they would obey all of what God commanded with all their hearts and souls. Josiah went on to help Israel become a people fully committed to God. He tore down all of the other temples and the idols that they had set up. He got rid of all the people who were doing bad things all throughout Israel. And he did all that was commanded in God’s book. Never before had there been a king like Josiah, who turned to the Lord with all his heart and soul and strength, obeying all the laws of Moses. And there has never been a king like him since.

We referenced the following Biblical passages: Jonah 1-3. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Jonah. Jonah was a prophet. That means it was his job to tell people what God told him to say. One day, God told Jonah to go to Nineveh because the people of Nineveh were doing bad things. But instead, Jonah ran away and went to the port to board a ship going the other way. He was hoping to get away from God. He sailed for a place called Tarshish. While he was at sea, God sent a great and powerful wind over the sea that caused a storm that seemed like it would break the ship apart. Fearing for their lives, the sailors tried everything they could think of to save the ship. Meanwhile, Jonah was sound asleep. So the captain went down and said, “How can you sleep at a time like this? Get up and pray to your god! Maybe he will help us!” Then the crew figured out that Jonah was the reason for the storm and they asked him, “Who are you? Why is this happening to us?” Jonah told them who he was and that he worshipped the one true God who made the sea. Then he told the sailors to throw him in the sea so the storm would stop. The sailors still tried to escape the storm, but it was no use. So they asked God for forgiveness and threw Jonah into the sea. The storm stopped at once. The sailors were amazed at God’s power and they vowed to serve Him. Now God sent a great fish to swallow Jonah and Jonah was inside the fish for three days and nights. Jonah prayed to God from inside the fish and God ordered the fish to spit Jonah out. God told Jonah again to go to the city of Nineveh and tell them what God had said about them. This time Jonah obeyed God and went to Nineveh to deliver God’s message. The people of Nineveh stopped doing bad things and turned to God. They were saved because they listened to the message that God had given Jonah.

We referenced the following Biblical passages: 2 Chronicles 20. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Jehoshaphat who was one of the kings of Judah. He was a good king who strengthened Judah and did what was right in God’s eyes. He obeyed God’s commandments and God was with him. There were other countries around Judah who wanted to wage war on Judah though. And one day messengers came to Jehoshaphat and said that the armies of three kingdoms were marching towards Judah. Jehoshaphat was terrified by this news and begged God for guidance. He told everyone in Judah to start fasting. People from all the towns of Judah came to Jerusalem to seek God’s help. Jehoshaphat stood before all the people and prayed to God. He asked for God’s help saying, “O Lord, God of our ancestors. You are powerful and mighty; no one can stand against you!” He told God of the things God had done for Israel before and asked Him to stop the armies that were coming for them. He said, “We are powerless against this mighty army that is about to attack us. We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help.” All the men of Judah stood before God with their wives and children. The spirit of God came upon one of the men who was standing there and he said, “Listen all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid! For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” He told them that tomorrow they would march out against the armies, but they would not need to fight for God would be with them! Then King Jehoshaphat and all of the people of Israel worshipped God. The next morning the army of Judah went out to battle. Jehoshaphat said to them, “Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be able to stand firm!” Jehoshaphat sent the singers to walk ahead of the army and they praised God as they led the army. At the very moment they started praising God, God caused the armies of the other kingdoms to start fighting among themselves. So when the army of Judah came to overlook the battlefield, the enemy was defeated and not a single one of them had escaped. The army of Judah went and gathered the valuables from the valley and there was so much that it took them three days to collect it all. They praised and thanked God who had given them victory! Then they marched into Jerusalem praising God who had defeated the armies of their enemies and the kingdom of Judah was at peace.

We referenced the following Biblical passages: 2 Kings 5:1-19. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Naaman who was a great leader in the army of the king of Aram. Though Naaman was a mighty warrior, he had leprosy which made him have sores all over his body. Naaman had a maid in his house who was a young girl from Israel. This young girl served Naaman’s wife. One day, the girl told Naaman’s wife, “I wish my master would go to see the prophet in Samaria. He would heal him of his leprosy.” So Naaman went to the king of Aram and told him what the young girl had said. The king told him to go see the prophet and gave him a letter to give the king of Israel. Naaman went to Israel and brought with him many gifts. He gave the letter from his king to the king of Israel which asked him to heal Naaman. After the king of Israel read the letter, he became very upset because the king knew couldn’t heal Naaman. He thought the king of Aram was trying to pick a fight with him. But there was a man of God in Israel named Elisha. He was a prophet and his job was to tell people what God wanted him to say. He also had done many miracles through God’s power and healed people of sickness. So when he heard that the king of Israel was upset , he sent him a message that said, ““Why are you so upset? Send Naaman to me, and he will learn that there is a true prophet here in Israel.” So Naaman went to Elisha’s house. But Elisha sent a messenger out to him with this message: “Go and wash yourself seven times in the Jordan River. Then your skin will be restored, and you will be healed of your leprosy.” This made Naaman angry because he thought Elisha would come to meet him and wave his hand over him to heal him as he called on God’s name. He didn’t understand why he would just need to wash in a river in Israel. So Naaman turned and went away in a rage. But his officers encouraged Naaman to do what Elisha said and Naaman changed his mind. Naaman went down to the Jordan River and dipped himself seven times, as Elisha had instructed him. And his skin became as healthy as the skin of a young child, and he was healed! Then Naaman went back to find Elisha. Naaman said to Elisha, “Now I know that there is no God in all the world except in Israel. So please accept a gift from your servant.” But Elisha refused to accept a gift from Naaman even after he offered a second time. So Naaman asked if he could take some of the dirt from Israel back home, and said he would only offer sacrifices to the one true God from then on. Elisha said, “Go in peace.” So Naaman started home again, healed from his leprosy by the power of God.

We referenced the following Biblical passages: 1 Kings 18:16-45. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Elijah. Elijah was a prophet in Israel during the reign of King Ahab. His job was to tell the people what God wanted them to hear. This is King Ahab. He came from a line of kings who did bad things, but King Ahab was the worst of them all. He led the Israelites to do evil things as well and they turned away from God and started worshiping a fake god called Baal. God told Elijah to go speak with Ahab. While he was on his way to Ahab, a good man name Obadiah ran into him on the road. Elijah told him to go tell Ahab that he had come. Obadiah was scared that Elijah would not be there when he got back, but Elijah promised that he would. So Obadiah went to tell Ahab that Elijah had come back. King Ahab went out to meet Elijah and when he saw him he said, “So is it really you, you troublemaker of Israel?” Elijah said, “I have made no trouble for Israel. You and your family are the troublemakers, for you have refused to obey the commands of God and have worshiped images of Baal instead.” Then Elijah told Ahab to bring all of Israel and the prophets of Baal to join him at Mount Carmel. So Ahab did as Elijah asked. Then Elijah stood in from to them and said, “How much longer will you waver? If the Lord is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!” But the people were completely silent. Elijah called for two bulls and told the prophets of Baal that they could chose the one they wanted to sacrifice to Baal. They could put it on the altar but not set fire to it. Elijah said, “I will prepare the other bull and lay it on the wood on the altar, but not set fire to it. Then call on the name of your god and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by setting fire to the wood is the true God!” And all the people agreed. Elijah let the prophets of Baal go first. They prepared the sacrifice and called on the name of Baal from morning until noontime, shouting, “O Baal, answer us!” But there was no reply of any kind. Then they danced, hobbling around the altar they had made. Elijah began mocking them. “You’ll have to shout louder! Perhaps he is away on a trip or is asleep and needs to be wakened!” So they shouted louder and raved all afternoon until the evening, but still there was no sound, no reply, no response. Then Elijah called to the people, “Come over here!” They all crowded around him as he repaired the altar of God that had been torn down and dug a trench around the altar. Then he said, “Fill four large jars with water and pour the water over the offering and the wood.” After they had done this, he said, “Do the same thing again!” And when they were finished, he said, “Now do it a third time!” So they did as he said and the water ran around the altar and even filled the trench. Elijah walked up to the altar and prayed, “God, prove today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant. Oh God, answer me! Answer me so these people will know that you are God and that you have brought them back to yourself.” Immediately the fire of the Lord flashed down from heaven and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the dust. It even licked up all the water in the trench! And when all the people saw it, they fell face down on the ground and cried out, “The Lord—He is God! Yes, the Lord is God!”

So Solomon asked God for wisdom. He asked for an understanding heart so that he could rule God’s people well and know the difference between right and wrong. God was happy that Solomon asked for wisdom because it showed that his greatest desire was to help God’s people. God said, “I will certainly give you the wisdom and knowledge you requested. But I will also give you wealth, riches, and fame such as no other king has had before you or will ever have in the future!” Then Solomon woke up and realized it had been a dream. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is David. David was the second king of Israel. He was a great warrior, he loved God with all his heart, and he prayed to God often. David loved God so much that he wanted to give him a special house to live in. But God told David that it wasn’t His plan for David to build this house. Even so, David thanked God for all He had done for him. He praised God for the great God that He is. David wrote many psalms, which are prayers and songs to God that are in the Bible. In many of his psalms, David began by thanking and praising God. He thanked God for answering his prayers and giving him victory over his enemies. He thanked God for guiding him and showing him the right path to take. David thanked God for always being with him. Even when David was an old man, he thanked God in front of all the people of Israel for all that He had done. He said to the people, “Give praise to the Lord your God!” David talked to God his whole life and this is one reason why God said, “I have found a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to.”

We referenced the following Biblical passages: 1 Samuel 17. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is David. David was a shepherd who lived in Bethlehem. David was chosen by God to be the next king of Israel when he was just a boy. But David had to wait a very long time until that promise would come true because there was another king of Israel named Saul. Saul led the armies of Israel. David’s older brothers were in the army while David took care of the sheep. One day, King Saul was with his army near the valley of Elah. On the other side of this valley the Philistines, the enemies of Israel, gathered their army ready to fight. The Philistines had a giant warrior named Goliath who challenged the Israelites. He shouted and taunted them saying, “Choose one man to come down here and fight me!” Then Goliath spoke badly of God and his people. For forty days, every morning and evening, Goliath strutted in front of the Israelite army. And the Israelites and King Saul were very afraid. Meanwhile, David’s father sent David to bring some food to his brothers and their captain. So David left his sheep and set out early in morning. He arrived at the camp just as the Israelite army was going out to battle. David followed the army to find his brothers. As he was talking with them, Goliath came out from the Philistine army and David heard him shout his usual mean taunts to the army of Israel. As soon as the Israelites saw Goliath, they began to run away in fright. They said, “Have you seen the giant? The king has offered a huge reward to anyone who kills him.” David asked what the reward would be and then said, “Who is this Philistine anyway, that he is allowed to defy the armies of the living God?” David’s oldest brother heard David talking to the men and he was angry with him. But David said, “I was only asking a question!” And he continued to ask his question of other men. Then David’s question was reported to King Saul and the king sent for him. David said, “Don’t worry about this Philistine. I’ll go fight him!” Saul said, “There’s no way you can fight him and win. You’re only a boy!” But David told Saul that he had taken care of his father’s sheep and rescued them from lions and bears. He had even defeated lions and bears when they would try to attack him. So David said he would do the same to Goliath for he had spoken terrible things about the armies of God. Then David declared, “The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and bear will rescue me from this Philistine!” So Saul said, “All right, go ahead and may the Lord be with you!” Saul tried to give David his armor, but he wasn’t used to it. So David left the armor behind and picked up five smooth stones from a stream. Then armed only with his shepherd’s staff and sling, he started across the valley to fight Goliath. When Goliath saw him coming, he sneered at him and yelled bad things at David. But David said, “You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies—the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This is the Lord’s battle and he will give you to us.” Goliath moved closer to attack and David quickly ran out to meet him. He hurled a stone from his sling and it hit Goliath in the forehead. The stone sank in and Goliath stumbled and fell to the ground. The men of Israel rushed after the Philistine army and chased them away. So David triumphed over the Philistine with only a sling and a stone, for he had no sword, but he knew the power of God and trusted God to win the battle against the giant.

Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Samson. Who was the last judge of Israel. Samson was very strong and he was supposed to bring God’s people victory over their enemies who were the Philistines. Now Samson fell in love with a woman named Delilah. And the Philistines came to Delilah and convinced her to find out what the secret to Samson’s strength was. They promised her a great amount of money if she could do this. So Delilah said to Samson, “Please tell me what makes you so strong and what it would take to tie you up securely.” Samson replied, “If I were tied up with seven new bowstrings that have not yet been dried, I would become as weak as anyone else.” So the Philistine rulers brought Delilah seven new bowstrings and she tied Samson up with them. She cried out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!” But Samson snapped the bowstrings. So the secret of his strength was not discovered. Afterward Delilah said to him, “You’ve been making fun of me and telling me lies! Now please tell me how you can be tied up securely.” Samson replied, “If I were tied up with brand-new ropes that had never been used, I would become as weak as anyone else.” So Delilah took new ropes and tied him up with them. And again Delilah cried out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!” But again Samson snapped the ropes from his arms. Then Delilah said, “You’ve been making fun of me and telling me lies! Now tell me how you can be tied up securely.” Samson replied, “If you were to weave the seven braids of my hair into the fabric on your loom and tighten it with the loom shuttle, I would become as weak as anyone else.” So while he slept, Delilah wove the seven braids of his hair into the fabric. Again she cried out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!” But Samson woke up and yanked his hair away from the loom and the fabric. Then Delilah pouted, “How can you tell me, ‘I love you,’ when you don’t share your secrets with me? You’ve made fun of me three times now, and you still haven’t told me what makes you so strong!” She tormented him with her nagging day after day until he was sick to death of it. Finally, Samson shared his secret with her. “My hair has never been cut for I was dedicated to God as a Nazarite from birth. If my head were shaved, my strength would leave me, and I would become as weak as anyone else.” Delilah realized he had finally told her the truth, so she sent for the Philistine rulers. “Come back one more time,” she said, “for he has finally told me his secret.” So the Philistine rulers returned. Delilah lulled Samson to sleep, and then she called in a man to shave off the seven locks of his hair. Samson’s strength left him. Then she cried out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!” When he woke up, he thought, “I will do as before and shake myself free.” But he didn’t realize the Lord had left him. So the Philistines captured him and took him to prison.

But one night after Eli had gone to bed, Samuel was sleeping in the Tabernacle when suddenly God called out, “Samuel!” Samuel got up and ran to Eli and said, “Did you call me?” Eli said, “I didn’t call you. Go back to bed.” So Samuel did. Then God called out again, “Samuel!” And again Samuel got up and ran to Eli asking, “Did you call me.” Eli said, “I didn’t call you. Go back to bed.” So Samuel did. God called Samuel for a third time and Samuel went to Eli yet again. After three times, Eli realized that God was trying to speak to Samuel. So Eli taught Samuel to say, “Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.” Samuel went back to bed. And God came and called as before, “Samuel! We referenced the following Biblical passages: Judges 7. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Gideon who was a judge of Israel. In the time when Gideon lived, the Israelites were being over taken by a group called the Midianites. The Midianites were so cruel that the Israelites hid from them and were starving because the Midianites were taking all their food and ruining the land. So the Israelites called out to God and ask Him to help. God chose Gideon to rescue the Israelites from the Midianites and gave him the power to lead an army of Israelites. One day Gideon and his army got up early and came close to the Midianite camp. God told Gideon that he had too many warriors with him. God said, “If I let all of you fight the Midianites, the Israelites will boast to me that they saved themselves by their own strength.” So God told Gideon to let all the men who were scared go home. So 22,000 men went home and Gideon was left with only 10,000. But God told Gideon that he still had too many men with him. He told Gideon to bring the men down to the water and that God would give them a test. Gideon did as God asked and then God said, “Divide the men in two groups. In one group put all those who cup water in their hands and lap it up with their tongues like dogs. In the other group put those who kneel down and drink with their mouths in the stream.” Only 300 of the men drank from their hands. God told Gideon, “With these 300 men I will rescue you and give you victory over the Midianites. Send all the others home.” So Gideon did as God said. Now the Midianite camp was in the valley just below where Gideon and his 300 men were. That night God told Gideon to get up and go down to the camp to listen to what the Midianites were saying. God told Gideon that if he was afraid he could take his servant Purah with him. So Gideon and Purah went to the edge of the enemy camp. The enemy army was huge! There were too many men and camels for Gideon to even count! Gideon crept up close to the camp and heard a man telling his friend about his dream. The man said that in his dream a loaf of bread came tumbling down to the camp and knocked a tent down flat. His friend said the dream could only mean one thing - that God had given Gideon victory over the Midianites. When Gideon heard this, he worshipped God. Then he went back to the Israelite camp and shouted, “Get up! For God had given you victory over the Midianites!” He divided his 300 men into three groups and gave them a ram’s horn and a clay jar with a torch in it. Then he said, “Keep your eyes on me. When I come to the edge of the camp, do just as I do.” So the Israelite army went down to the enemy camp. It was just after midnight, after the changing of the guard. Suddenly, the Israelites blew their horns and broke their jars. They held blazing torches in one hand and horns in their other and all shouted, “A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!” Gideon and his 300 men stood in position around the camp and watched as all the Midianites rushed around in a panic and tried to escape! Then they blew their ram horns and God caused the warriors in the camp to fight against each other. Some of them escaped, but Gideon called for the warriors of the other tribes in Israel to cut them off and so God used Gideon and his army of 300 men to defeat the Midianite army, just as He said He would.

We referenced the following Biblical passages: Ruth 1 (with mention of storyline of 2-4). Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Naomi, who was a Jewish woman from Bethlehem in Judah. Naomi’s husband took her and her two sons to live in a country called Moab because there was a famine in Judah, meaning there wasn’t enough food for them to eat. While they were in Moab, Naomi’s husband died and her sons married two Moabite women named Orpah and Ruth. But then Naomi’s sons died, leaving Naomi, Orpah, and Ruth alone. Naomi heard that God had blessed his people in Judah by giving them good crops for food again. So Naomi took her two daughters-in-law and set out for Judah. On the way, Naomi told her daughters-in-law to go back to their mothers’ homes. They all cried and then Ruth and Orpah told Naomi that they wanted to go with her to her people. But Naomi told them to go home and marry other men. They all cried again and Orpah said goodbye. Ruth clung tightly to Naomi though. Naomi told her that she should go like Orpah did, but Ruth said, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.” When Naomi saw that Ruth was set on going with her, she said nothing more. So Ruth and Naomi went back to Judah. When the people in Bethlehem saw Naomi they were excited! But Naomi said to, “Call me Mara, for the Almighty has made life very bitter for me.” When Ruth and Naomi returned, it was harvest time in Bethlehem. Ruth went to gather grain in the field of a man named Boaz. Boaz treated Ruth with kindness and made sure that she and Naomi had food from the fields. Naomi heard of this and told Ruth that Boaz was a close relative of Naomi’s husband, so he could be her husband. Ruth went to Boaz and told him that she was her family’s redeemer. Boaz then put everything in order to take Ruth as his wife. Ruth and Boaz had a son named Obed. Naomi cared for Obed as if he were her own. Obed went on to have a son of his own named Jesse and he had a son named David who would be the great king of Israel who defeated a giant named Goliath. And many, many years later Ruth and Boaz’s descendants would include Jesus, the savior of the world!

We referenced the following Biblical passages: Joshua 5. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Joshua. Joshua was the leader of the Israelites who God used to bring His people to the Promised Land. When God told Joshua it was time to take the Promised Land, Joshua sent spies into the city of Jericho. While those spies were in Jericho they were protected by a woman named Rahab. The spies promised to spare Rahab and her family when they took back the land. And she hung a scarlet chord from her window to remind them of their promise. Now the Israelites had crossed the Jordan and were camped near the town of Jericho. One day Joshua looked up and there was a man standing before him. The man said, “I am the commander of the army of the Lord.” Joshua asked what the man wanted to tell him and the Lord said that he wanted Joshua to take the city of Jericho but that Joshua needed to follow his instructions exactly. Now Jericho was shut up for fear of the Israelites. No one came out and no one came in. So the Lord told Joshua to gather his soldiers and march around the city for six days. The priests were to take the arc of the covenant and seven priest were to go in front of it blowing a ram’s horn. On the seventh day they were to march around the city seven times and blow the horn. Then all the people of Israel were to give a great shout. And then the city walls would fall. So Joshua said, “Shout for the Lord has given you the city.” And the people did shout and the walls did fall. The Israelites overtook the city of Jericho as God had commanded. They remembered Rahab because of her faithfulness. Now Joshua was faithful in carrying out God’s commands. And the Israelites took many other cities as God told them they would. For God will never fail to fulfill His promises. So the Israelites came to live in the land that God had promised their fathers Abraham, Issac, Israel, Joseph, and Moses many years ago.

We referenced the following Biblical passages: Joshua 3-4. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Joshua. Joshua was the leader of the Israelites who God would use to take His people into the Promised Land. Joshua readied his people to cross the Jordan River which was the only thing dividing the Israelites from the land that God had promised to them. They camped beside the river for 3 days waiting just as the Lord had commanded them. At this time of year, the Jordan River was flooded and flowing with so much water that it was impossible to cross on foot. God told Joshua to tell the people that the priests would carry the Arc of the Covenant and lead the people through the water. He told the priests to step into the rushing waters and when they would do this the waters would stop flowing. And as soon as the priests did this, the water of the Jordan did stop flowing and the priests stood with the Arc of the Covenant on dry ground as the Israelites crossed to the other side. God told Joshua to send 12 men from the 12 tribes of Israel to take 12 stones from the place that the priests were standing. When all this had been finished as God commanded, Joshua called the priests from the Jordan. As their feet left the Jordan River, the waters came back into place just as they had been. They brought the stones to their camp and set them as a memorial so future generations might remember the story of how God brought His people through the Jordan River on dry ground.

We referenced the following Biblical passages: Exodus 33: 7-11. Hey-O Kids Curriculum’s primary goal with the Stories of the Bible animation is to tell the stories from God’s word accurately and in a way that is engaging to children of all ages. This is Moses who was an Israelite who grew up in the palace of the Egyptian Pharaoh. When Moses was much older, God called him to take His people out of Egypt with the help of his brother Aaron. After God showed His miraculous power in Egypt, He led the Israelites through the Red Sea and towards the Promised Land. They followed God who showed himself as a cloud by day and fire by night. While they were in the wilderness, God and Moses would talk in a place called the Tent of Meeting. Moses would take the tent and pitch it outside the Israelite camp. Everyone who wanted to ask God for something would go to the Tent of Meeting outside the camp. Whenever Moses went out to the Tent of Meeting, all the people would watch Moses until he disappeared inside. As he went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and hover at its entrance while the Lord spoke with Moses. Inside the Tent of Meeting, the Lord would speak to Moses face to face, just as one speaks to a friend. And because of what Jesus did on the cross, we can talk to God as if we are talking to a friend too.
