He arrived in 2014 and lived in a tent for more than two years, hauling water from a spring while planting the first trees. The organization grew out of that time on the land. Grown in Haiti now runs a community nursery, a farmer network called AgriNatif, and water catchment holding close to 50,000 gallons. Its Farmer Support Program prioritizes women. More than 25,000 trees have gone into the ground through the work, and over 300 volunteers have come through the property. His practice is syntropic agroforestry, planting in dense succession so that soil and canopy build together. Much of what grows in Cap Rouge was never planted by anyone. Documenting it has become part of the work, with more than 100 species recorded on iNaturalist so far, including nine birds found nowhere outside Hispaniola. He teaches a free syntropic farming course through the Earthed platform and spoke as a finalist at the Falling Walls Science Summit in Berlin. He also serves as vice president of the Caribbean Agroecology Institute. In 2026 he completed research through the Caribbean Institute in Gender and Development at the University of the West Indies at Cave Hill, on women's socio-economic contributions to Haiti's agricultural sector. Born in Haiti, raised in the United States, he moves between Brooklyn and Cap Rouge. She became a life-long student of nature and an advocate for the rights of nature and the more-than-human world. Mo began to study herbalism in her teenage years, which led her to travel the world at 18 in pursuit of broadening her understanding of life and those who inhabited this earth. Drawn not only to local ecologies but also the ways life expresses itself across the globe, Mo spent around 5 years traveling and hitchhiking around the world, seeking to learn from the Earth and those who still spoke her language. Today, Mo runs Aura La Voura, a project, laboratory, and brand dedicated to alchemical herbalism, spagyrics and right-relationship with the earth. Learn more about Christopher below! ⬇️ 🍄 Christopher Parker is a farmer, educator, and myco-culture keeper from the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. For more than 30 years, he has cultivated gourmet and medicinal mushrooms in the Southern Appalachians, blending Indigenous forest-tending traditions with modern mycology science. As co-founder of The Forest Farmacy, a working farm and applied eco-mycology school, Christopher trains farmers, growers, and land stewards to regenerate soil, restore forests, and build livelihoods based on food sovereignty. His approach combines ancestral wisdom with hands-on cultivation, teaching people to grow mushrooms not just as a crop but as a practice of reciprocity and ecological repair. Christopher maintains one of the most diverse fungal culture libraries suited to the Appalachian bioregion and is dedicated to passing on these living genetic materials, along with the stories and skills that give them meaning. His work champions fungi as both food and medicine, and as partners in creating resilient communities. At the core of his teaching is a simple truth: humans are not separate from the forest—we are keystone species. Through careful tending, mushrooms serve as a bridge connecting people and place, culture and ecology, past and future.
