Welcome to the first episode of Her Voice in the House, the new podcast that through the eyes and ears of female Peers, will lift the lid on what the House of Lords is really like.

In their own words they will share what it’s like to be a Peer, the issues they’re championing and their views on the role of the upper chamber and it’s place in both the UK and global democracies. 

In this first episode, I sit down with Baroness Gabby Bertin, a Conservative peer, on the day her amendments holding the government to account on the Crime and Policing Bill were debated. She discusses why this moment mattered, the impact of her independent review into the regulation of online porn and the next steps in her campaign for its implementation.

Despite making up 30% of its total membership, female Peers that sit in Parliament’s second chamber are frequently overlooked.

Her Voice in the House is a new podcast that spotlights female Peers. Through candid conversations with women who sit in the Lords, host Laura Emily Dunn lifts the lid on what it truly means to be a female Peer, the issues they’re championing and their role shaping British democracy and legislation.

The podcast also examines the impact these women are making through their parliamentary platform and how their leadership is inspiring more women to enter public service.
