288 | November Q&A: Dress Your Best Consistently, Affordable Comfort Heels, and Adapting Classic Outfits for Every Body Type

Épisode 288

jeudi 6 novembre 2025Durée 22:51

Welcome back to another monthly Q&A episode of HER Style Podcast! How is it November already? I don't even know. But these episodes are some of my favorites because I get to hear directly from you — your questions, your challenges, and your real-life style needs.

Today, we're covering an exciting variety of topics, including how to stay motivated to dress your best consistently (the perfect continuation to our last episode), how to track down low heels that are comfortable, affordable, and stylish enough to wear to work — especially for teachers who are on their feet all day, and how to make a classic style vision work for a body type that doesn't fit the tall, slim mold we often see on Pinterest and social media.

As always, my goal is to give you practical, actionable advice you can use right away. So let's go ahead and dive right into our November Q&A!

287 | Feeling Uninspired? Let's Reignite Your Love of Getting Dressed

Épisode 287

lundi 3 novembre 2025Durée 17:41

I hope you're feeling more and more excited to get dressed with each HER Style Podcast episode you tune into. But even so or if you're in an early phase of your style journey, rest assured that we all have those days and moments when we look into our closets and feel completely and utterly uninspired.

Maybe just a few weeks ago you did a little shopping, added some new pieces, or even refreshed your whole wardrobe — but now you're right back where you started, reaching for the same easy combos, or just throwing on whatever's clean. If that sounds familiar, I want you to know you're not alone.

Even as a stylist, I have those mornings too. Some days I feel on fire about putting together my outfit, and other days (especially the ones that are meeting-free!), I'm tempted to stay in my pajamas. But I've also picked up a few tricks to make those mornings easier so getting dressed doesn't have to feel like a chore. You can reignite that spark and fall back in love with the process of putting your outfits together, even when your inspiration feels like it's gone missing.

That's what we're diving into today. We're going to talk about the hidden reason your wardrobe can feel uninspiring, the mindset shift that changes everything, the most common mistake I see that makes outfits feel "blah," and some quick tricks to spark fresh ideas — even when you're not feeling it. I'll also share how to stop relying on motivation and start building real momentum, what to do when you're tempted to reach for the easiest thing in your closet, why inspiration always comes in waves, and how to create your very own "inspiration toolkit" so you never feel stuck for too long.

So if you've been in a style slump lately, take a deep breath, because you're about to get your confidence and creativity back, my friend. Let's go!

Épisode 186

lundi 21 octobre 2024Durée 27:12

My son, Grey, turned 6 over the summer and started kindergarten this fall and I can't believe how fast time is flying. It feels like just yesterday he started asking the 3-letter question most moms dread… WHY?

WHY… do I have to go to bed earlier than the grown ups?

WHY… is it dangerous to take a flying leap off my bed?

WHY… can't I have that toy I just saw for the first time in the Amazon holiday catalog and now absolutely need or my entire life will be over?

A lot of my son's questions over the years have been science-related and my response is always the same… "That's a really good question for Opa!" (← Opa is my dad, who just so happens to be a scientist! So that's convenient, right?) While a majority of Grey's questions are repetitive or out of my league, I still encourage him to ask — even now. Because asking WHY gives us the opportunity to make better informed decisions in our lives.

WHY is it important to ask this question when it comes to your wardrobe? I'm so glad you asked, friend! I want to help you get to the heart of why certain things work for you while others don't.

Because if you're anything like HER Style Collective Member, Ginny, you've been doing your research, following all the fashion rules, and maybe feeling more restricted and confused about what to wear than ever before. In today's episode, I'm sitting down with Ginny to talk about the pitfalls of soaking up TOO much miscellaneous style advice, how to learn the (right!) rules like a pro so you can break them like an artist, and of course, we're going to give you an inside peek at what's waiting on the other side of joining us in the Collective this fall.

PLUS, keep your eyes and ears open this week, because I will be revealing some very big surprises around HER Style Collective in just a couple of days. So make sure you're following HER Style Podcast on your favorite podcast app! For now, here's my conversation with Ginny…

185 | Pear Shaped Body? Short Torso? Here's How to Dress for Your Shape and Proportions

Épisode 185

jeudi 17 octobre 2024Durée 16:34

Hey friend. I don't know how long you've been on your style journey, pouring into your education, becoming more aware of your shopping choices, and putting extra thought into your outfits. But I bet you'll agree that one of the hardest things at the beginning of this journey is figuring out how to dress to flatter your body. You've probably taken a deep-dive into shapes and silhouettes, proportions and prints. And there's nothing like FINALLY getting it down and confidently working this knowledge into your daily routine.

But then… things change! You start losing some weight in your midsection. You get pregnant and your hips become even more prominent, like our friend Karen who submitted today's Q&A Thursday question. Or your feet grow and all of your shoes feel just a little too tight, like mine. (I really need to start accepting my new shoe size!)

Yes, your body isn't going to stay the same forever. Your style is going to ebb and flow. Your coloring will likely soften with age as well. But the good news is you don't have to start all over!

In today's episode, I'm going to help you see how a few subtle tweaks each season will keep your closet on track, your style knowledge sharp, and your outfits looking incredible on you. Let's explore HOW to dress for your shape and proportions no matter what changes come your way.

184 | 8 Women's Clothing Stores My Clients and I Are Loving Right Now

Épisode 184

mardi 15 octobre 2024Durée 20:44

With the exception of my seasonal trend updates, I would say almost all of the episodes on HER Style Podcast contain timeless style tips you can relisten to and apply season after season. So I thought it might be fun to mix things up just a bit and share a very timely episode today.

I know it can be a major struggle to figure out where to shop. Should you look online or in local stores? Which brands are best? Where do you begin the hunt?

While I can't say for sure without knowing more about your specific lifestyle, preferences, and budget, there are a handful of stores that have been hitting it out of the park with multiple clients and myself lately! In this episode, I'm sharing the top 8 women's clothing stores my clients and I are loving right now. Some of them might surprise you, some of them might be new to you, and some of them might be familiar favorites worth revisiting. Either way, I think this list will expand your shopping choices and maybe even help you adjust your shopping criteria moving forward.

I can't wait to tell you where my clients and I have been scoring big with our wardrobes this fall. So snuggle up with your pumpkin spice and let's break down this list of favorites!

Truth or dare? Okay, it's actually truth or truth today because I don't have a good dare in mind for you… But I'm very curious to know how your wardrobe has evolved over the last several years.Have you been working to elevate and streamline your looks? Or has your closet become a sea of outdated and oversized pieces that make you feel more sloppy than stylish?

Remember, this is a JUDGMENT-FREE ZONE, my friend. And if your collection feels like the latter, you're definitely not alone. Clothing has become much more casual, we have less of a need to dress up than ever before, and if you're half as busy as I think you are, your wardrobe has probably been one of the last things on your mind. Well, maybe until now.

I know you're here, listening to HER Style Podcast, for a reason. And like our friend Elise, who submitted today's question for Q&A Thursday, you might be ready to build a high-quality wardrobe that works for your casual, everyday life. Dressing for the dog park and to work from home doesn't mean you have to default to the same athleisure looks everyone else is wearing or settle for your old, shapeless gym clothes anymore. Let's find a way to spruce up your collection so you can feel your best no matter what's on your calendar!
