Prof. Francesco Buccisano is Associate Professor of Hematology at Tor Vergata University of Rome, Italy, and Director of Immunohematology and Transfusion Medicine at the Tor Vergata Polyclinic. He is an internationally recognized expert in flow cytometry and leads a reference center for the diagnosis and assessment of measurable residual disease (MRD) in AML.
Dr. Vittorio Emanuele Muccio is a ClinicalPathology Specialist and Senior Biologist in the Flow Cytometry and Protein Diagnostics Unit at San Luigi Gonzaga University Hospital in Orbassano, Italy. His expertise includes diagnostic flow cytometry, oncohematology, immunophenotyping and MRD assessment, with a particular focus on the standardization and harmonization of flow cytometry and laboratory workflows.
In this episode they explore the evolving role of flow cytometry in the diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS), highlighting the shift from morphology-based assessment to a more integrateddiagnostic approach.
