"I went to a big box store the other day and got very excited because I found a summer patio set on clearance. When I took the price tag to the cashier to check out, she said the price was wrong and that I wasn't going to get the great deal I thought I was. This caused a huge fight between us because of her snide attitude. I told her I am entitled to the price on the tag because it's not my fault the store screwed up and printed the wrong number. I think the store should honor the price. Her manager is on vacation until today so I'm going back to the store to fight for the lower price. The cashier says just because the tag has a lower price doesn't mean I'm entitled to it. I disagree. Should the store honor the lower price? They were the ones that printed the wrong sale price, not me."

Your winning story of the day..... Bill The Thrill!

"(The names of the people and cemetery have been changed for privacy)
My wife is from South Arkansas and while visiting there one weekend last spring, her grandmother wanted to visit the cemetery where her family was buried to put new arrangements on a few of her family's grave sites.
My wife, her mom, grandmother and I pull up to the cemetery, get out and head toward the graves.  We were the only people there, no other cars etc.   It was your typical cemetery, being older there were some trees but not a lot, mostly flat land and gravesites - it was nicely landscaped and well maintained.  Once we got to the grave sites where the family was buried, my wife's grandmother starts telling me about their family history and who each person was and how they were kin to my wife.
After about 10 minutes of talking this older man appears behind us and ask how we were doing.  He is tall; he's wearing a grey shirt and pants, work boots and carrying a rake in his hand.  He had a full head of white hair and what I remember most about him was his eyes, they were a piercing blue.  Needless to say, never seeing or hearing him approach us - we were startled thinking that we were there all alone in this graveyard.  We basically, all in unison, said "We're good, how are you?"
He ask us where we were from - we told him and he tells us his name is "Bill Johnson" and that his family bought this land 200 years ago and that his whole family including his wife and children were buried here.  He points in the direction towards the front of the cemetery (where we walked in) and said "Right over there is where we're all buried."  We ask him if he knew any of our family members that were buried here and he knew a few of them - he even told us things we didn't know about some of them!  I ask him if he lived in the area and he said "I'm 92".   Thinking he couldn't hear well, I just smiled and said something like, "That's great".
After a little more small talk he said he needed to go and do some more work and told us it was nice talking to us and walked away.  When he left us he starting whistling a song - My mother in law said is he whistling "When the roll is called up yonder" (an old church hymnal) we listened and sure enough he was.
As we were getting ready to remove and add new arrangements my wife asks me if I would go to the car and get some items.  As I turned and walked towards the car, I looked around for the old man (it had only been maybe 30-45 seconds since we said our goodbyes) - he was nowhere in sight. My first thought was that he had fallen, you could see all around this cemetery and the trees weren't big enough to hide him.
I keep walking towards our car and looking around for him and as I get to the front entrance of the gate I see a lot of gravesites with the name "Johnson" on them.  As I got closer,  I see a grave of a husband and wife that had their pictures on them, next to the grave site on the husbands side was a rake like the old man was carrying , just laying there on the ground.  I looked around and still didn't see the old man.  As I walked by, I stop to look at the pictures and almost fell out.  The photo of the man looked exactly like the man we just met - Bill Johnson, eyes, hair, everything!  The date on the headstone for the man was (Birth 1921 - Death 2008) this would put him around 92 years old!  The name on the grave...Bill and Louise Johnson!!!!!
 I yelled at my wife and family to come check it out and they were all freaking out.  My wife's grandmother said "On that's just a coincidence".
When we left that afternoon, we got into the car and as we drove down the road I turned on the radio and was trying to find some tunes, the only radio station that would come in clear was a Christian station.  Guess what the song playing on the radio was.....I kid you not....."When the roll is called up yonder". Grandma was speechless - We turned the radio off and road in silence all the way home."

"My husband and I caught our 15 year old daughter smoking. He and I are now discussing how to handle the situation.  He says we should buy cigarettes for her because we can then control the amount of cigarettes she's smoking. He says if we don't, she's going to go behind our backs and smoke anyway. I hate the habit and think we should ground her and forbid her from smoking. We should also start taking away some privileges. This will teach her she is not allowed to smoke until she is 21 and an adult. He thinks we'll do more harm than good that way. "I had a hysterectomy 2 weeks ago and hours after my surgery I almost died. My blood pressure went to 38/66 and my oxygen went down to 52%. They had to open me back up and fix the problem. My husband want back to work yesterday. Because he had to go to work, I had to drive to get our kids even though technically I'm still on bed rest. But we have no help and you have to do what you go to do for your family right? Well my husband is mad at me because he had to cook dinner after getting off work. Side note, 4 kids, 3 are in school and I have our 3 year old with me all day today. Am I in the wrong for having him cook dinner after getting off work or should he understand that yes I'm 30 but I had 2 surgeries in 24hrs 2 weeks ago and he should be there to help even though he works? "Help! My daughter in law is pregnant with my first grand child she has had a pretty rough pregnancy as far as morning sickness. She's now 30 weeks pregnant but at her high risk doctor appointment this week we found out the baby is measuring a week behind and is now considered growth restricted. I was talking to my son yesterday and he finally told me when she vomits it hurts so she now has it in her head if she doesn't eat, she doesn't vomit. She's lost 2lbs in the last 2 weeks. How can I get it in her head that she has to eat for the well being of her unborn son? She's the type that will cut me out of my grandson's life if I make her mad but I worry for my grandson's health and hers. Her doctor has gave her medication for the problem but I'm not sure she is taking it."

"Last week I started a new job. I'm only working 2 weeks. I have 2 kids- girl is 5 and is in school, 3 year old boy isn't in school. Well my issue is I don't know who is going to watch my son all day. I drive my daughter to school and my husband picks her up and goes back home where the babysitter, my husband's godmother, watches them.
Last Friday she told us she couldn't watch them anymore because she's wasting her gas driving from Benton all the way to the airport where I live. I told her I'm going to pay you I just started my job so can it wait? She said sure. But my husband came home telling me she called him and she wants me to pay her $500! I was shocked and said no, I'll give her $100. She sits down in my house and does nothing.
My house is clean food is made for my kids. Why should I pay her $500? Am I wrong for not wanting to pay her? Now we are looking for a daycare that will take my son and also pick up my daughter from school. Any suggestions"

"We have moved to a new town. My daughter had to start a new school. She was sad about leaving her old school and said “I don’t want new friends.” My mama heart was so happy on the 3rd day of school when she excitedly told me that she MADE a FRIEND! And that they live across our street!
They became instant friends and even found a little group of girls at lunch that she had befriended. I started letting her go play across the street for an hour or so. Talked to parents who are very nice. She started coming over daily or my daughter would go over there to play!! She even spent the night at our house. It relieved me to know my daughter had a new friend.
Over the weekend, my daughter’s friend had a birthday party! The group of little lunch girlies were there! They sent me pics of them being goofy.
At one point, they went to the little girls room and was helping her clean off her bed when they turned her pillow over and saw a bug. The other little friend asked if it was a bed bug. My daughter took a pic and tried to get google to identify it. There ended up being a little argument between the friends and the birthday girl kicked them all out.
When my daughter came home and started telling us a story about how it all happened. That’s when she said something about one friend found a bed bug. Then she showed me the picture.
I think it is a bed bug! And evidently the fact it was that easy to see in the daylight and it was obviously well fed(?!) means it may be pretty bad.
What do I do now? She comes to our house in the mornings and rides with us (and her backpack) to the bus stop. She has spent the night.
I DO NOT want bed bugs. Do I say something to the mom? How do I let her come over or ride around with us when we really think there are bed bugs? If I didn’t have the picture, I’d give them the benefit of the doubt but I do have the picture and there’s no way the parents don’t know. I do not want my daughters friend to be embarrassed or the mother but I DO NOT WANT BED BUGS!! What do I do?"

"My adult stepson, that doesn’t have a job, just moved into our house to get his life together. My adult son, that does have a job, moved out to help his friend for a short time but he planned to move back home until he finds a place of his own. The plan was that my stepson would take the smaller bedroom but at the time my daughter was home from college and was occupying that bedroom, which left my stepson to put his belongings in my son’s room, to which he now voluntarily settled into. Now the time has come to where my son has to move back home. Should we still carry out the plan or should we have my son move all his belongings out of his room into the smaller one and allow my stepson to stay in my son’s bedroom?"

"My co-workers and I were having lunch yesterday when one of them mentioned that they were buying alcohol last weekend when a clerk asked for their ID. She is 45 and said being asked for her ID is an insult because she is proud of her age. I disagreed and told her she should be flattered that the clerk thought she looked younger than she is. This divided the lunchroom. Is being asked for your ID a compliment or an insult?"

"My head is spinning because of what my best friend has asked me to do. This is going to sound like something out of a movie or something so unbelievable that it's not true, but it is. My best friend and her husband both work, but don't make a lot of money. They've been trying to have a baby for three years, but can't because of some problems he has. They can't afford IVF so they came to me and asked if my husband would impregnate her. You would have thought he won the lottery. She is waiting for me to give her an answer.  Of course my husband, being a guy, is all for it. I take my marriage very seriously and I'm conflicted about what to do. Who in the heck loans out their husband for something like this? I feel bad for my friend and almost guilty for not wanting to help her. What would you do if you were me?"

"HI, I apologize for the long rant but here it goes I am a 27 years old and first time mom of an 17 month old. My husband and I are happily married but the only thing is... His parents.
Back story: they live 2 minutes from us and very very RARELY come and see their grandchild. its been this way since she was born. my husbands dad has seen my daughter maybe 10 times in her 17 months of life. As far as I am concerned they don't check in on her either. they hardly speak to me.
Their house is not well kept they've got 2 big dogs that they don't clean up after. So we (my husband and I) hardly go down there.
The reason they don't come around is because I said I don't want them to. I've never said that, if anything I would love for them to get to know their grandchild.
My parents (who also live two minutes down the road) check in at least every other day and make a point to stop by to see her. My dad works out of town and stops in on Fridays to see her and then ask if they (my mom and dad) can have her for the day to hang out with her.
I currently have my daughters Facebook photo album to where this parents can't see it because I feel like if you don't make an effort to see her you shouldn't be able to see her pictures of milestones as she gets older and smarter.
Am I wrong for keeping them from seeing her photos? Am I also wrong for not taking my daughter to their house once a week?"

"I had a date over the weekend that started out great, but ended awkwardly. It was a first date. We had a nice dinner and then played mini golf before he invited me back to his apartment. His apartment freaked me out.  My date is 31 years old.  He had sci-fi action figures all over his apartment and several stuffed animals on his bed. I told my sister about the date yesterday and she said I should not give the guy a second date because adult men shouldn't be playing with action figures or stuffed animals. My other friend, who's into sci-fi, says it's no big deal and that he's just in touch with his inner child. Creepy or not?  Give the guy a second date or not?"

"My boyfriend and I talked about getting married two weeks ago. Everything was going great until it wasn't. I ran to the mall the other night and bumped into my childhood crush. I know this sounds silly but I immediately got goosebumps and butterflies and felt the pit in my stomach like I did in junior high and high school. We exchanged numbers and agreed to get together for lunch. Now, all I do is think about him. I'm questioning my decision to marry my boyfriend. He's done nothing wrong, but doesn't give me the feelings my childhood crush does. I'm not sure what to do. My head says to stay with the safe choice which is my boyfriend. My heart says don't be safe and chase my childhood crush because that will be exciting and keep my interest. Safe versus not safe. What would you do?"

"I'm considering selling my car for scraps and need advice on how to do that. I'll try to provide brief context but the car does have quite the history while under my ownership. I spent $4 grand buying my car, a 2013 Chevy Cruise, from a coworker and another $200 to get it repaired multiple times because either the guy sold it to me broken or it started to break the minute the title was in my name.

All of these issues revolve around the same area the AC. A couple of months ago I took the car to get looked at when the AC first broke. I had asked the mechanic if the car needed Anti-freeze and he said no. Fast forward a week and the car breaks down on the side of the road, I have it towed back to my house where it sits for weeks a constant mocking reminder of the money I sunk into it.

Well last Friday I finally had time to get in contact with a different auto-care guy and he asked about the anti-freeze, this lead me to discover that the Anti-freeze/coolant tank was empty and had been this whole time. That first mechanic was wrong the car would have been perfectly fine if I had just put coolant in the dang tank. After filling the coolant tank I have taken the car out on a few test drives to see how it runs. And it was running fine... until yesterday.

I was putting coolant in the tank before I left for work and I had made the mistake of forgetting to put lid back on. This caused the car to break down in the middle of the road halfway through my drive to work. Thankfully I managed to get my car moved into a gas station parking lot, where I called a tow truck.

So this whole thing with the lid combined with the fact I had driven my car for a week with no coolant caused my motor/engine to break and apparently I had nearly blown a head gasket. The repairs needed for my car are well more than I can afford. Which is why I would like to scrap it seeing as how all of the other parts are still working perfectly.

The auto-shop had offer me $500 for the car but I said no because I knew once they fixed it up they could sell it for at least $4 grand. like I said it's a perfectly working car once you fix all the issues listed above.

I know that it's wishful thinking to believe I'll recoup all my loses back but if anyone deserves to make any money off this car now it is me. I just don't know how to go about doing that. Any suggestions?"

"I have been at my current job for 10 years, in those 10 years I've worked in 2 different departments and started from the bottom and worked my way up. 3 years ago I switched to the new department and they've had several new people take over my old position in the last 3 year's till about 8 months ago. The new person in there is good but here is my problem they have been there less then a year and make more then I do and I have been at my job for 10. The position in the new department is supposed to be a hire up position yet the other person is making more an hour then me when I've been a dedicated hard working employee for 10 years. Am I just being petty for feeling like I should be making more then someone who hasn't been there near as long as I have? Here lately I find myself looking for other jobs on indeed but I do love my job, my boss and my coworkers. Plus it's Monday to Friday no weekends or holidays and my boss is extremely flexible if I need off for anything. Am I an in the wrong for feeling like I do?"

"Dear Heather and Poolboy,

I really hope you read this on air because I need all the advice I can get. Recently My family and I have been in a bit of financial trouble. My mom's car stopped working and had to be taken to the shop. However, the last couple of years we have been riding the very thin line between being stable and being flat broke, I fear getting our car fixed will take the majority of my mom's money. Luckily she was allowed to work from home while we sort out what to do about her car, so she won't lose her job.

But that leads me into my problem. I want to get a job to help but I have no clue what to do. I'm paralyzed with indecision. For context I just turned 18 in June and graduated high school in May. I have decided not to go to college immediately seeing as how I wouldn't be able to go without acquiring student loan debt and I'm not sure what grants or scholarships (if any) I qualify for. I did ok in school, I maintained a C average, which I feel is pretty good considering the problems that surfaced in my last few years of high school.

To make a long story better fit a therapist short, I need career advice. I know I can't live with my mom for free forever, but I'm absolutely utterly terrified of taking that next step. Terrified to let my family down, terrified to fail, and terrified to succeed if I'm being honest. My mom isn't any help. She keeps saying things like "Once you get a job that money will help us dig our way out of this hole".

We can't really lean on family for help because they all live in another city. It's not a long drive from us to them, but given our circumstances it might as well be another state. I feel so alone, like I have to carry the whole family on my back. I can't do that, I'm just a kid. So if you have any advice please share it, it would greatly help!"

"I have a Tesla. I was driving the other night when I got into a fender bender.  We exchanged insurance information before the police arrived. The officer interviewed both of us. I refused to accept blame for the accident. I told the officer my Tesla was on autopilot at the time of the accident so Tesla is responsible for the accident not me. The other driver and I both received tickets.  I plan to contest mine. The officer says that I'm responsible, not Tesla, because I was behind the wheel. I told him I'd see him in court. Can you and your listeners be my jury and tell me what you think? Am I guilty or not? Is Tesla guilty?"

"My family adopted a rottweiler puppy several months ago. Last Friday, two men rang my doorbell and attempted to sell me a new roof. My rottweiler bit one of the salesmen. He came back yesterday and is claiming I am responsible for his injuries. I told him to get lost and slammed the door in his face. It's his fault he got bit. I never told him to come on to my property and hassle me. My dog was just protecting me because he made a move towards my front door. He also missed the no trespassing sign on my mailbox. It may be a bit faded,  but it says no trespassing. The salesman is now threatening to get a lawyer to sue me. Am I responsible? Is it his fault or mine? Should I pay him to make him go away?"

"I flew home to visit my parents over the weekend. The plane was packed on the ride back yesterday. I was sitting in a middle seat when the person to my right closed the shade on the window. The person sitting to my left wanted to see the sky so they reached over me and opened the shade. The two of them proceeded to argue over who is the boss of the window shade. The person sitting to my right said they were because they were closest to the window. The person sitting to my left said that's not the case. They tried to get me involved in the argument, but I refused to bite. A flight attendant finally ordered the shade to be halfway open and halfway closed. My fellow row mates continued arguing for the duration of the flight. I know this sounds silly, but who is the boss of the window shade when you are flying? Is it the person closest to the window? Should it be a vote between the three seated in the row? Settle this once and for all"

"I try to schedule all of my first dates on Wednesday night so if I like the guy I can go out with him again on Friday or Saturday. I had a date on Wednesday night. We met at a very well-known Italian restaurant in the area. The night started off horribly because my date called me by the wrong name. When I asked who Tara was he stumbled and fumbled like an NFL player on Sunday afternoon. I thought about walking out right then and there, but then decided to stay and order the most expensive thing on the menu. My date never gave me a straight answer as to who Tara is. He has asked me for a second date on Saturday. In his defense, he was extremely nervous because he is dating way over his head with me. Should I give him another chance or not? "My boyfriend and I are talking about getting married. We are both divorced and have custody of our children. The kids don't like one another. My boyfriend and I know we have found true love with each other. The kids don't want us to get married. Should we care what they think? "My husband joined a new gym about a month ago. He's casually mentioned that he has a workout partner at the gym named Andy. "My kids were outside playing yesterday when my 9-year-old daughter blurted out that we are going to Starbucks every day to get Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Another parent heard the comment and asked me if she was kidding. I said she wasn’t and that I and the kids love the lattes. "I am getting married next year, and have requested no children. Family members have asked if they could bring their kids, but I said due to our venue, we can not accommodate for children. They said that’s simply ridiculous and they are going to bring theirs anyway. These family members are very close and this will cause hard feelings. What do I do??"
