The right ingredients to Building Lean Muscle Mass31 Oct 202200:48:40

Send us a text

Are you looking to increase your strength and build lean muscle mass? 💪

If this is you, then this 🎙 episode is for your empowerment in the field of exercise and nutrition. Our special guest is an Exercise Physiologist from Longevity - Stefan Velevski will enlighten you with his story and expertise in the area of building lean muscle mass. Complementing this is the host Anthony Hartcher who shares his tips on the right nutrition 🍏 to gain strength and gain lean muscle mass.

Stefan's Story

I grew up in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne and during my childhood and teenage years I was very active in sports such as swimming, soccer and Taekwondo. After practicing Taekwondo for 10 years, I became an instructor which allowed me to help people improve their fitness and self-confidence. However, my priorities changed during my teenage years when I was introduced to the gym. I was having an absolute blast getting bigger and stronger. However, during my first few years in the gym, I developed a rotator cuff tendinopathy and was extremely frustrated that I couldn’t do what I love anymore due to pain. During this time, I became drawn to learn more about how the rehabilitation process works. I also noticed how great it felt to go back to doing what I enjoyed. This opened up my world and brought me into my career in exercise physiology. I want to help as many people as I can, to get back to doing what they enjoy most.

Does your SCAR cause you PAIN?10 Oct 202200:41:54

Send us a text

Do you have a SCAR that you wish could disappear?

Is your SCAR causing you PAIN?

If you answered yes, then this episode of me&my health up is for you! Andie Holman - the Scar Queen shares her wisdom and experience with scars and wound healing. Andie will enlighten you on what you can do to heal the pain and share tips on how you can love your scar.

Andie Holman's story

Throughout childhood and my teens, I had itchy, weepy, skin that felt like it was on fire.

I had eczema on my eyelids and mouth, which were chronically cracked, bleeding, and gooey. Yuck.

It got to the point that steroid creams and pills weren’t working. My doctor told me I was on my own. I was 15.

That was almost forty years ago.

So, I set off experimenting with different plants, teas, lotions, supplements, diet changes, you name it, I tried it.

Around the same time, I also had major surgery. I was left with painful scars that no one would touch. After my massage training in 1994, I worked solo on myself, figuring out what helped and how to do it.

Both of those experiences, the eczema and the scarring, led to my specialties. I can look back now and say the suffering was worth it, as it gave me the tools and drive to turn it around and help others.

Stoic Approach to Mental Health01 Aug 202200:32:26

Have you ever wondered how we viewed and managed Mental Health in ancient times? Can we apply their philosophies today to improve our mental health?

In this episode of me&my health up we explore this topic of how ancient philosopher's such as Marcus Aurelius viewed and tackled mental health and how you can apply it today with UK-based philosophy researcher and writer Jamie Ryder. We discuss how schools of thought like Stoicism can be beneficial for mental health, especially for men who may not want to discuss their experiences. Jamie also shares how reframing philosophy as a way of life rather that something to study makes it more accessible and even fun once you start to apply it.

Art Therapy for Mental Health30 May 202200:30:45

Send us a text

You have most likely heard of talk therapy for Mental Health... however have you heard of ART THERAPY?

In this episode of me&my health up we speak with Megan VanMeter who specialises in Art Therapy. We discuss the what, and the how Art Therapy supports our Mental Health.

About Megan VanMeter

Megan is a board-certified registered Art Therapist and Licensed Mental Health Professional. From her personal experience Megan knows burnout from working in behavioral health, correctional, educational, medical, and social services settings.  She also knows the special kinds of burnout that come from being a caregiver and a target of workplace bullying.  Asking for help was hard, but my future depended on it. Megan had to create a future for herself out of the darkness.

Megan says "creating is an active process.  Talking about the future won’t create it, and you can’t talk about things you can’t put into words--like the full-body experience of burnout, or the full-body experience of marginalization, which leaves you apt to succumb to burnout faster than your non-marginalized peers.  I became an art therapist to help you create a better outcome for yourself using your very own eyes and hands and the full-body wisdom they’re connected to.  You already have everything it takes to glow beyond this dark moment.  All you need is someone to share their light with you while you create your masterpiece, and I'd love to be that someone."

Send us a text

Plant Based Diets are all the rage now! But are they really good for us? Or are they just another dietary FAD??? In this episode, we discuss all this and more with Scientist, Nutritional Therapist, International Speaker, Health and Nutrition Coach, and Consultant Matty Lansdown.

Matty is an in-demand Nutritional Therapist, International Speaker, Health and Nutrition Coach, and Consultant for high-level corporate clients, business owners, and 9-5 workers.

As a scientist of biology at a major Melbourne hospital and having worked in the fields of Cancer Research and Vaccine Formulation, Matty developed the core belief that ‘genetic diseases’ are, for the most part, a result of misinformation and bad food consumption habits passed down from generation to generation, rather than a result of genetic predisposition to an illness.

Matty’s medical knowledge, combined with extensive research and self-testing of non-traditional dieting and safe fasting methods have made him an internationally recognised voice in the field of intermittent fasting and nutritional optimisation. He is regularly invited to international wellness events, retreats, and conferences as a coach, panelist and speaker.

So buckle your seat beats and tune in for another insightful episode of me&my health up with Matty Lansdown.

Note to you from Shaun Sargent

I’m a 50-somethng CEO, Chartered Accountant & Chartered Secretary, who is very selfishly, but very necessarily, searching for things that will help me be the best I can be, in all aspects of my life: Mental, Physical, and Spiritual.

Because life is about creating the best version of self, thriving in everyday life, as today is not a dress rehearsal for something to come, today is now, and its about showing up fully, competently and capably for yourself in every moment. That’s why my target is to improve myself, not because there is something wrong or missing with me, but because 'to be the best me I can be' is the best way of living I have found.

I do what I do, for me, first and foremost. As the airlines say just before takeoff “in the unlikely event of … please put on your own oxygen mask before helping others.”

Unless I am the best version of me, how can I offer anything to others.

Currently, my target is to get the best information on how to live a great daily life. First and foremost with that, it stems from optimising our hormones. This is my target – empower people through unbiased information, and also through empowering them to look at things from a wisdom point  of view, rather than just accepting the standard narrative.
