Dance, magic dance! Jump, magic jump! That's right, it's time for Labyrinth. Do you have what it takes to solve it? Are you as emotionally fraught as a 14-year-old to end up there in the first place?

We're talking all things glitter and tight pants. But the real fascination is the people that made the costumes for all the puppets in this movie. True mastery and we love them for it.

No fantasy season would be complete without Alice! And there are so many versions of Alice to choose from! We decided to go with this fascinating TV Movie from 1999 that has many, many familiar faces. Including the face of Whoopi Goldberg pasted onto the Cheshire Cat. Please follow us down the rabbit hole for this one where we question how you could possibly get more British than this story.

Alright, who remembers the British Narnia miniseries from the late 80's/early 90's?! Because we sure do. And they are so delightfully weird! Today we're delving into the Silver Chair which was quite memorable for both Melinda's and Ariel's childhood. Ditch your school uniform, head over to that castle, and follow that Marshwiggle!!

There can only be one...episode about this movie.  This movie was wiggy and wild, but one thing you can't deny, it's interesting to look at. Even when it doesn't make sense, it's something to see. We had a lot of questions about this one.

One man's quest to solve the problem of death so his wife can live forever. Despite what she actually wants.

This movie is full of poetic imagery and asks a lot of big questions and doesn't provide all the answers. And no, it's not sci-fi just because there's a laboratory and a dude floating through space. So let's just get that straight.

Greetings and welcome to our new season all about FANTASY! We are kicking it off with a film that shows us a world where men are building a new kind of world, and women...are also present.

This movie has all the gorgeous plate armor you could ever want to see and stunning costumes that don't seem to realize they are blending a late 70's aesthetic into a medieval world.

Thanks friends! Stay tuned for Season 4 coming very shortly

The time has come. Like all things, eventually Franken-summer had to end. And so we leave you with this film- a classic coming-of-age tale about a simple girl. She's just figuring out who she is while on a bit of a murder spree to revitalize the corpse of a victorian dude that gets accidentally resurrected. We've all been there!!!

It has to be seen to be believed, so we recommend you see it.

Welcome to 1985- the hair is big and the celebs are bigger! We've got Sting and Jennifer Beals starring in this movie that *thinks* it's a feminist retelling of the Bride of Frankenstein. Join us as we examine those merits and spend more time talking about hair and skin than clothes to be quite honest.

Next up is this classic entry into the Frankenstein BODY of work. This film is a must for all Franken-o-philes. There's really not much to add, just hit play.

This Korean historical drama pits the establishment and tradition against new artistic expression in clothing of the royal court. Join us for this movie that neither of us really knew much about! It’s an interesting fantasy, fairy tale, horror, fable? The characters make lots of questionable life choices and also lots of fabulous costume choices. There are sea monsters, witches, ogres, fleas, acrobats, and a lot of blood. What more could we ask for? Oh, and John C Reilly.

In a person's life- are Facts or Stories more important? That tension is the heart of this movie and a question I don't think we even attempt to answer. But we do love to explore how clothing can be used to reveal emotional truth, heighten mundane events into the stuff of legend, and help someone shape their identity. And for such a great costume movie, there was virtually no information we could find about how it came together. So it's just us!

At about the 18 minute mark, there's some background noise as there was a fence being put up nearby.

The costumes in Wicked are a triumph. It's a feast for the eyes and you simply must watch it if you haven't. We get into it's journey from novel, to stage, to screen. And is it really important to like the songs in this version? Or is the story told as much between the big numbers? And of course, Fiyero was a bit of an afterthought. Oops!

It's dark, it's moody, there are suits everywhere, it must be Batman. This episode we delve into 2 versions of Gotham that reflect the times they were made in. And the gangs all here, most notably The Joker. But he's got enough style to fill a whole gang. The costumes in both movies help delicately walk the line between the real world and cartoon world.

Friends, this one was a bit FRAUGHT. While as kids we loved and delighted in the adventures of Mr. Henry Jones Jr (alias Indiana Jones) it's hard to ignore...so much in these movies. Join us for an unmoored traipse through the original trilogy with only a brief cameo by Temple of Doom because you know why. We don't really need to say it.

We all know why this was such a formative movie for a lot of people, do we really have to spell it out? Beyond the beautiful (H O T) and charming cast, there is sadly a lot to unpack here regarding colonization, culture appropriation, and exoticization in Hollywood. And we examine how our education system set us up to recognize and question none of this at all. But at least we got to dress up like Roman Senators and Cave Men at school! Join us in the sandy snow globe that is this tale of adventure.

We're processing the rise of fascism in real time here folks. This episode may not be what you need right now! At all! But we needed to do it in order to move forward with why we are making this show. Join us if you feel up to it.

And we still are talking about movies here- and only kind of talking about costumes. We cover the movies that taught millennials how to fight fascism. Ariel selected V for Vendetta and Melinda selected The Truman Show. Honorable mentions (and mild spoilers for) The Hunger Games, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and Dick.

Our regularly scheduled programming will continue next week when we get back on track with The Mummy. For now, take care of yourselves, take care of your people, and take care of your vegetable gardens. Time to batten down the hatches.

Come One, Come All! Capitalist Queens and Warriors fighting The Man! 1995 had something for everyone. We are watching important movies that established teen culture and gave us fashion icons to aspire to. These kids were so cool and had it all figured out. In retrospect, they are babies! Hi friends! Our next episode will be released next Tuesday! Today is election day for us and we are trying to make it through the week mentally, spiritually, emotionally.

If you are able to vote and have not yet, please vote!! The future is in our hands.

See you next week.

Prepare for an epic battle, and not between Peter Pan and Captain Hook! Ariel loves this movie and holds it very dear, Melinda hates this movie and thinks it's an emotional betrayal of the Peter Pan story. But because we don't shy away from Important Issues, we bring the debate to you. What they can agree on: the costumes are great.

Get ready for the emotional gauntlet that is back to back tragedies. But who better to lead you through it than Baz Luhrmann, the man who invented feelings. Melinda and Ariel marvel at the sumptuous worlds of these movies and the masterful designers who brought them to life. The greatest thing we ever learned, is just to love, and be loved in return.

We kick off Season 2 with Ever After because this movie was massively formative for both of us. And I hope it has a special place in your heart too. If not, we invite you to check it out and embrace the magic. Don't we all want to live in a world where Leonardo da Vinci is our fairy godmother? Where the handsome prince is a bit of a himbo and you can help him discover the concept of Human Rights? The Brothers Grimm really screwed this story up in their book, fortunately Drew Barrymore is here to set the record straight. What's that phrase you always use? Ah yes...Once Upon A Time...

Ariel and Melinda reflect on their miniature costume recreations from the show. Which they totally finished on time and they are not feverishly trying to complete (!) They each picked one costume from Rings of Power and recreated the design on a mini scale model form. There was so much embroidery, beading, and block printing, oh my! And it added an extra layer to their respect for professional artists who do this work all day everyday. Listen in to hear all about it
