Flee is an Academy Award nominated animated documentary about one man's experience growing up as gay in Afghanistan and becoming a refugee, eventually ending up in Denmark. It details the harrowing multiple journeys he took in order to seek some sort of safety, the complicated story of his immediate family and their struggles, and how that trauma has affected him throughout his life even up to today. It's a moving piece of art that I highly recommend. It's available on Hulu for subscribers or you can rent it from any online rental platform.

4.3 The Invitation24 Jan 202200:34:30

We're back again learning about the Durselys and this time they're on a diet! Feast (but not too much) on some grapefruit as we discuss diet culture, fatphobia, and scenes that we wish hadn't been cut from the movie.

This week we are recommending everyone check out Alisa Vitti, author of Woman Code and In The Flo. Arri started reading In The Flo recently and had her mind blown in the first chapter. Did you know most research in health and fitness is done on men and not appropriate for women? Up until 1993, the FDA had a policy that banned most women from participating in ANY medical studies. Well, Alissa Vitti is having none of it! Using her John Hopkins education and her work with thousands of patients and clients over the past 20 years she's hoping her books and wealth of knowledge will help women all over the world. 4.2 The Scar17 Jan 202200:42:48

For the fourth book in a row, we are given explanation as to who Harry is, what his closest relationships are, and just how shrill Hermione's voice truly is. And we hope that Dumbledore had a lovely time on his trip to Fire Island - see you next summer, girlie!

America's child poverty rate was 16% of kids nationwide as of 2020 data. While the child tax credit was a help during 2021, Congress has allowed that to lapse for most Americans who need it. Save the Children is a global organization committed to helping the poorest children around the world, reaching 197 million kids in 2020 alone. I also urge you to reach out to your representatives in Washington and urge them to fight for the inclusion of the child tax credit to be a lasting part of the American legacy so that we are able to help millions of kids, especially those in rural, black and brown communities.

2.20 Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) dir. Chris Columbus - Part 215 Mar 202101:03:14

Finally, it's all come to this. In this final episode, we finish what we started last week - our takes on every moment of the second film in the series. We discuss Allie's fear of spiders she shares with Rupert Grint, the length of time the fight with the basilisk takes, and the weird singular post credits scene in the entire film series.

2.19 Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) dir. Chris Columbus - Part 108 Mar 202101:08:23

Well, we've made it. We're here, and just when you thought we had said everything there could be said about this book, we've got two entire episodes coming to you on the film adaptation. This episode will take you all the way to Colin's body being discovered and Dumbledore's revelation that the chamber has indeed been open again. In it, we discuss whether Colin Creevey is a zaddy, how hot Matthew Lewis is now (Neville Longbottom), and just what book Draco was ripping pages out of in Flourish and Blotts (hint: it's not Hogwarts: A History).

This week, Allie, Adam, and Arri all talk about Chapter 16, The Chamber of Secrets. Inside this episode, you'll find a discussion on how to breed basilisks, the musicality of Myrtle's sobs, and how in a year, they still have not learned that THEY ARE NOT MILES BELOW THE SCHOOL.

The lasting legacy of Black Women's Health Imperative first began at a conference in Atlanta, Georgia back in 1983. Since then, the National Black Women’s Health Project or “The Project” has continued to promote physical, mental and spiritual health and well-being for Black women and girls across America. With a broadened structure of national and local affiliated organizations and a change in name to the Black Women’s Health Imperative in 2002, the Imperative instituted aggressive national programs in health policy, education, research, knowledge and leadership development and communications to save and extend the lives of Black women. Today the mission of The Imperative is to lead the effort to solve the most pressing health issues that affect Black women and girls in the U.S. Through investments in evidence-based strategies, they deliver bold new programs and advocate health-promoting policies. We hope you will join us in making a donation to Black Women's Health Imperative. Click here to donate.
