Warning: Do not listen to this episode unless you have seen the A-24 Oscar Nominated 2022 Release, "Everything Everywhere All at Once" or do not mind hearing key plot points. Why is Everything Everywhere All at Once being reviewed on the Hall of Justice? This film, which has garnered multiple award nominations, is as much a “comic book movie” as anything by DC or Marvel. It involves an infinite multiverse. The adventure consists of a family and they are thrust into a battle for the fate of the universe. That sounds like many comic books and can be compared to the Crisis on Infinite Earths which had plot twists like any sci-fi film.Syracuse University Film Studies Professor Dr. Kendall Phillips rejoins the show to talk about the film. He addresses the reasons this film is receiving Oscar nominations while traditional comic book films are often overlooked. The episode also asks if a comic book movie has to be based on an actual comic book or if it can invoke the themes of a comic book. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information. | |||
