The Monthly Project series allows participants to all follow a single text score prompt as their guides for composition and production. For this month we have composer, sound artist, and abstract turntablist Maria Chavez joining us as guest facilitator. This past months prompt is as follows:

For this project, you are to take inspiration from the world of abstract turntablism through a digital context and utilize a DJ software of your choosing and create an original work of concréte performance using only found sounds as your source materials, rather than formal music recordings. the final recording should be a single take performance rather than utilizing overdubs. Take full advantage of looping and internal FX capabilities.

The Monthly Project series allows participants to all follow a single text score prompt as their guides for composition and production. This past months prompt is as follows:

Create a piece of music of any style in 5 minutes or less that consists solely of samples of feedback. This can manifest itself through traditional microphone or instrument pick-up to amplifier feedback, no input mixer feedback, mobile communications device speaker feedback, or some other manifestation of the phenomenon. The samples do not have to be original if you are unable to record them yourself.
