প্রেমের গল্প মানেই যে সবসময় সুখের শেষ, এমন তো নয়। আবার, শেষটা সুখের না হলেই যে খুব দুঃখের হবে, সেটাও নয়। কখনও কখনও গল্পের শেষটা হয় খুব নীরবে, খুব নিষ্ঠুর —না রক্তপাত, না ঝগড়াঝাঁটি, না কোনো নাটকীয় চূড়ান্ত মুহূর্ত। বিভূতিভূষণের হাতে গল্পের শেষটা এমন এক নিস্তব্ধ ট্রমায় পৌঁছয়, যেখানে ব্যথা থেকে যায়, কিন্তু শব্দ হয় না। “কুয়াশার রং”-এর মতো গল্পে শুধু তিনিই পারেন এমন নিঃশব্দ অথচ গভীরভাবে কষ্টের সমাপ্তি টানতে—ছায়ার মতো, অথচ মনে গেঁথে যায় চিরকালA love story doesn’t always have to end happily.
