Good morning, everyone.
What caused this moment to be as it is?
Well, some people claim that we create this moment, we create the movements of our life, and that we have something to do with that. Some people claim God creates everything. Some people claim karma. It’s all karma. Or destiny.
But what’s actually true of any of these things? Are any of them true?
I think an interesting question is, why or who feels a need to know that, any of those, one way or another? What about not knowing at all? Freedom from the known.
It’s easy to, because we don’t know why something is happening, say, “well, that’s my karma” or something like that. Or it’s God’s will. Or it happened because of this or that cause and effect. And it’s because of my fault or my doing or my great deed or something.
There can be some comfort in feeling that now I know why something is as it is. Even if it’s, well, it’s God’s will, so it’s out of my hand. There’s some comfort in that as well, some security in the known.
But again, the real question is, who needs to know that? Who needs that security?
Not even whether any of it’s true or not, because do I know if any of it’s true or not? No. No idea. Do I need to know if any of it’s true? Well, no. That need is not here, but it is here for, you know, maybe many or most people, the need to have some kind of security of the known there.
Well, obviously, the one who rises as I, the one who has the insecurity of being separated, the one who feels it’s going to die, is the one who wants to have some security in all of that.

This is not a judgment. This is not pointing out something that needs to be killed or anything like that. This is just, what’s going on here? Let’s notice. What is that need for the security of the known? Whether it’s karma, destiny, God’s will, my own will, whatever, cause and effect.
Well, I see this in a different way myself. Just for a moment, let’s be together. Just knowing now, pure being being this moment.

Can this moment be any different than it is?
If I don’t go into the mind that wants to understand something, if I just stay open, pure knowing being, why is this moment as it is?
There’s no answer.
Clearly, it simply is, as it is.

All ideas of destiny, karma, the will of God, cause and effect, my own free will and doership, all of those ideas, they’re pointless.
They have no relevance whatsoever to this moment.

They’re just desperately grasped straws of understanding because of the need for security. If that need for security is not here, then the one who needs that security is not here either, and vice versa.
If the one who needs that security of the known, those concepts, is not here, then those concepts are not here either.
They are one and the same. The need to know and the one who needs to know rise and fall together.

So what I say, the way I see it, is there’s nothing behind the curtain of this, now.
And what does that mean?
Well, a few things.
There’s nothing behind the curtain as far as time. There’s no past behind the curtain of now. There’s only now and nothing behind the curtain.
There’s no reason why this moment is as it is. It simply is. There’s nothing behind the curtain as far as a reason.
There’s nothing behind the curtain as far as an explanation, destiny, free will, God’s will, cause and effect, karma.
In this moment now, none of those apply, so there’s nothing behind the curtain as far as a reason for this moment to be as it is.

How is that for you? To hear that? To take that in?
Is it a threat to the one rising who needs that, to have some security in the known?
Just notice nothing to judge.

There can be a relaxation in the realization that none of those concepts apply, and there is nothing behind the curtain of this time, explanation, all of that.
If there’s a relaxation, it’s because the one who would be threatened by that is not rising in that moment, so there’s just relaxation,
a relief.

As with everything that I speak about, there’s no judgment. It’s just notice what’s going on.
That’s all.
If I have some concept like karma or destiny or free will or anything, then look and see, is it actually true? If I say it’s my karma or destiny or it’s the will of God or something, is it actually true? How can I possibly know that? I can’t know that.
It’s not knowable. None of that is knowable, is it?
You know what’s knowable? Here and now, pure aware of being. Knowing itself, that’s knowable,
with no description, no explanation, no understanding, and no one that needs any of that.
Like now for a moment.
