Why Golf Is Unlike Any Other Sport
13 Oct 2026
00:51:30
One of the biggest misconceptions we hear from beginners—and even really good athletes—is that if they work hard, take a few lessons and practice consistently, they'll become a great golfer pretty quickly.
And while hard work absolutely matters, golf doesn't work quite like other sports.
In fact, golf is one of the few sports where the longer you play, the more you realize how much you still have to learn.
Athleticism helps. Hard work matters. But neither one replaces experience.
Golf asks so much more of you than simply being athletic. You have to learn swing mechanics, course management, the mental game, emotional control, decision-making, distance control, different lies, changing weather conditions, rules, etiquette—and perhaps most importantly, patience.
Today's episode isn't about telling you golf is hard. It's about helping you understand why golf is different. Because once you understand that, you can stop comparing your progress to other sports and start appreciating the incredible journey that golf really is.
In this episode, we talk about:
● Golf has no finish line
● Golf is much more than a swing
● Athleticism helps, but it doesn't replace experience
● Your biggest opponent is YOU
● Golf rewards slowing down
● Failure is part of golf
● Golf is a game of character
● Every round is different
● Improvement isn't linear
● Golf teaches us about life
If you're new to golf—or maybe you've been playing for a while and find yourself getting frustrated—we hope today's episode helps change your perspective.
You're not behind. You're not failing. You're learning one of the most challenging and rewarding games ever created.
Give yourself permission to be a beginner. Celebrate the small victories. Keep showing up.
Because golf isn't about arriving—it's about growing. And the beautiful thing about this game is that there's always something new to learn.
And THAT is why golf is unlike any other sport.
Thanks for tuning in to the Golf Party Live Podcast.

Golf Excuses: We've Heard Them All!
06 Oct 2026
00:58:49
Golf Excuses - we've all got them… and today we're calling them out!
Donna and Boo are joined by a very special guest, Julie Ann — Donna's childhood BFF — for an episode that had us laughing from start to finish.
We're not talking swing mechanics. We're not talking equipment or how to shave strokes off your game. We're talking about something every single golfer has: EXCUSES!
We're breaking down some of the funniest, most relatable, and most ridiculous golf excuses we've heard over the years — and we may even admit to a few of our own. We get into: Weather excuses — too hot, too cold, too windy… you know the drill
Equipment excuses — because obviously it was the club
Body excuses — the back, the knees, the shoulder, the hangover…
Course excuses — greens, bunkers, rough, bad lies and everything in between
Partner excuses — when someone else is clearly responsible for your bad golf
Mental excuses — because golf lives rent-free in our heads
And our Hall of Fame Golf Excuses — the ones that deserve their own trophy
If you've ever blamed a bad round on anything other than yourself, this episode is for you.
We had an absolute blast recording this one, and we hope you laugh right along with us!
Now it's your turn — what's YOUR go-to golf excuse? Listen to the episode and then come find us on social media at Golf Party Live and tell us the best excuse you've ever used or heard. We may just share our favorites!
And help us keep growing the Golf Party Live community: follow or subscribe to the podcast, leave us a rating or review, and send this episode to that golfing friend who ALWAYS has an excuse ready. You know exactly who they are!
Tune in wherever you listen to podcasts — and let's keep making golf more fun together!
Ready to Play: Your Guide to Golf Leagues & Getting on the Course
29 Sep 2026
01:03:50
Today we're joined by special guest Deb McAvay, President of the Seville Ladies Golf Club, who brings a wealth of knowledge about women's golf leagues, country club golf, member events, and helping women get involved in the game.
But this episode isn't just about joining a golf league. It's about something much bigger:
How do you go from taking golf lessons to actually becoming a golfer?
It's something Donna tells her students all the time: You can't become a golfer by living on the driving range. The range teaches you how to hit golf shots. The golf course teaches you how to play golf—and those are two completely different skills.
In this episode, we're talking about how to take that next step and actually get out there and PLAY.
In This Episode:
⛳ Why getting on the golf course is essential to becoming a golfer ⛳ How to know when you're ready to start playing ⛳ Why Donna created Golf Party Live Ladies Play ⛳ The benefits of joining a women's golf league ⛳ 9-hole vs. 18-hole leagues ⛳ What to expect when joining a country club golf league ⛳ Spark Golf and other ways to find opportunities to play ⛳ Invitations, member events and getting involved at your club ⛳ Deb's insight on women's golf and helping newer golfers feel welcome ⛳ Building confidence, friendships and experience through actually playing the game
You don't have to be a great golfer before you get on the course. Playing the game is how you become a golfer.
If you've been taking lessons, practicing on the range and wondering, "Am I ready?"—this episode is for you.
It's time to get off the range and onto the course!

Chipping vs. Pitching: What's the Difference & How Do You Choose the Right Shot?
08 Sep 2026
00:48:14
Today we're talking about something almost every golfer needs help with: chipping vs. pitching. What's the difference, when should you use each one, and how do you hit these shots with confidence?
The short game is where so many women struggle, but it's also one of the fastest places to lower your scores once you understand your options and develop a little feel around the greens.
In this episode, we're breaking it all down in a simple, easy-to-understand way.
In This Episode:
⛳ What is a chip shot? ⛳ What is a pitch shot? ⛳ How to decide which shot to hit around the green ⛳ Which wedges should you use? ⛳ Can—and should—you hit your wedges full out? ⛳ The must-dos for short-game success ⛳ How to practice and develop better feel ⛳ How to become more confident around the greens
By the end of this episode, you'll have a much better understanding of your short-game options and feel more confident choosing—and committing to—the right shot.

Golf Chaos: What to Do When Everything Goes Wrong
01 Sep 2026
00:56:00
Every golfer has been there.
One minute you are feeling confident, and the next you are hitting balls out of bounds, finding every water hazard, chunking bunker shots, topping drives, and wondering if you have forgotten how to play golf.
If that sounds familiar, this episode is for you.
In this episode of the Golf Party Live Podcast, Donna gets personal and shares her own experience with golf chaos this year. It's an honest conversation about why difficult rounds happen, why we panic, and how to reset mentally so one bad shot—or even one bad hole—doesn't ruin your entire day.
In this episode, we discuss:
● What golf chaos really looks like:
● Out-of-bounds shots
● Lost balls
● Water hazards
● Bunkers that seem impossible to escape
● Topped shots and missed hits
● Why this isn't failure—it's simply part of the game of golf
● Why golfers panic when things start going wrong
● The pressure we put on ourselves to play the "perfect" round
● Why you don't have to finish every hole perfectly
● Practical strategies for getting back on track after a bad shot or bad hole
● The mental side of golf:
● Nervous energy
● Negative thought spirals
● Staying emotionally in control
● How to reset your mindset and regain confidence
● One of the biggest practice mistakes golfers make:
● Hitting balls with no target and no purpose
● Why intentional practice leads to better performance on the course
● Keeping golf in perspective:
● Every golfer has good days and bad days
● Gratitude for being outside, spending time with friends, and playing a game we love
Whether you're a beginner or an experienced golfer, this episode is a reminder that bad rounds happen to everyone. The key isn't avoiding golf chaos—it's learning how to respond when it shows up.
Thank you for listening to the Golf Party Live Podcast! If this episode resonated with you, please share it with one of your golfing friends—especially someone who needs the reminder that one bad shot doesn't define their round.

Grass vs. Mats: Why Your Golf Game Feels Different
25 Aug 2026
00:55:19
Have you ever striped the ball on the driving range, only to step onto the golf course and wonder what happened to your swing?
If you have experienced that, you're not alone—and you are definitely not losing your game.
In this episode of the Golf Party Live Podcast, we break down one of the biggest misconceptions in golf: practicing on mats versus playing on real grass. While both have their place, they provide very different feedback, and understanding those differences can dramatically improve your practice and your confidence.
In this episode, we discuss:
● Why mats and grass are not the same
● The pros of practicing on mats:
● Convenient and accessible
● Lighted driving ranges for evening practice
● Home practice setups and simulators
● The limitations of mats:
● Firm surfaces can hide swing flaws
● Why hitting too steeply can lead to wrist, elbow, or shoulder injuries
● How mats can create a false sense of solid contact
● The pros of practicing on grass:
● Honest, real-world feedback
● Learning to strike the ball before the ground
● Why grass never lies
● The challenges of grass:
● Harder to find and maintain
● More expensive
● Lies and conditions constantly change
● The modern practice reality:
● Why so many golfers now practice primarily on mats and simulators
● Why mats are an excellent training tool—but grass is the ultimate test
● Why the transition from mats to grass feels so difficult
● What your brain is experiencing when your shots suddenly change
● What to focus on during practice to make your skills transfer to the golf course
● How to practice with purpose and build lasting confidence
Whether you are a brand-new golfer or you have been playing for years, this episode will help you better understand why your range game doesn't always show up on the course—and how to fix it.
Thank you for listening to the Golf Party Live Podcast! If you enjoyed this episode, please share it with your golfing friends—especially someone who feels like they can hit it great on the range but struggles once they get on the golf course.

Episode 150: Four Years of Golf Party Live — And We're Just Getting Started
18 Aug 2026
01:14:23
Today's episode is a very special one because we're celebrating a major milestone:
Episode 150 of the Golf Party Live Podcast!
As we record this episode on June 8, we're also celebrating four years since Golf Party Live officially began with two ladies golf clinics at Lone Tree Golf Club in 2022.
It's hard to believe how far this journey has come.
What started with a single golf clinic has grown into lessons, play dates, golf schools, retreats, singles events, a thriving golf community, and a podcast that now reaches golfers all over the world.
Today is also personally meaningful because it marks six years since RT and I got together. He has supported every crazy idea, every event, every retreat, every podcast episode, and every dream along the way. I'm incredibly grateful for him and everything we've built together.
In this special milestone episode, we're taking a walk down memory lane and sharing the story of how Golf Party Live got started, how it evolved, what we've learned through 150 podcast episodes, and why it honestly feels like we're just getting started.
In This Episode: ⛳ The day Golf Party Live officially began
⛳ How our teaching programs were built and evolved
⛳ The transition from lessons to play dates and community events
⛳ The growth of our golf retreats
⛳ The creation and evolution of Golf Party Live Singles
⛳ Our podcast journey from the early days to today
⛳ Rebranding the show and creating Taylor's 19th Hole studio
⛳ Recognizing our producer, Ricky
⛳ Boo's incredible golf journey and evolution
⛳ The impact of RT and "The Lipper" on the show
⛳ How podcasting became one of our most powerful teaching tools
⛳ What 150 episodes have taught us
⛳ Our favorite episodes, biggest surprises, and proudest moments
⛳ The hardest challenges we've faced along the way
⛳ The biggest lessons from four years of building Golf Party Live
One of the most important realizations from this journey is that Golf Party Live was never really about golf.
Golf was simply the vehicle.
The real story has always been about confidence, friendship, community, connection, personal growth, and helping people create a life they love.
To every listener, student, event participant, retreat guest, sponsor, supporter, and every person who has believed in what we're building:
Thank you.
Thank you for trusting us.
Thank you for supporting us.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
Episode 150 feels like a huge milestone, but honestly...
It feels like we're just getting started.
I'm Donna Taylor.
I'm Brittney Boo.
Thank you for celebrating with us.
And as always...

What Do You Actually Need to Play Golf?
11 Aug 2026
00:54:19
Today's episode came directly from one of our Golf 101 students who asked a question we hear all the time:
"What do I actually need to play golf?"
And honestly, it's a great question.
Golf can feel overwhelming when you're getting started. Walk into a golf store and you'll see thousands of dollars worth of clubs, gadgets, apparel, technology, training aids, and accessories. It can make you feel like you need to buy everything before you can even step onto a golf course.
Here's the good news:
You don't.
In this episode, we're breaking down exactly what beginner golfers really need, what's nice to have, and what you can completely skip for now.
In This Episode: ⛳ Why beginners get overwhelmed when starting golf
⛳ The essential items every new golfer actually needs
⛳ The "nice-to-have" items that can make golf more enjoyable
⛳ Things beginners think they need—but really don't
⛳ What's currently in Donna and Brittney Boo's golf bags
⛳ How to save money and avoid unnecessary purchases
Whether you're brand new to the game or helping someone get started, this episode will help simplify the process and get you on the course faster with confidence.
If you know someone who is thinking about taking up golf, please send them this episode. It might save them a lot of money, a lot of confusion, and help them start golfing sooner.
Thank you for spending part of your day with us. If you're enjoying Golf Party Live, please share the show with a friend, leave a review, and help us continue growing the game for beginner women golfers everywhere.
Have fun and Go Low!
Four Years Later: Brittney Boo's Golf Journey
04 Aug 2026
00:59:51
Today's episode is a special one because we're diving into Brittney Boo's entire golf journey—not just beginner tips, not just Year One, but the real progression of what happens when an adult woman commits to learning golf over several years.
Most golf content focuses on swing tips, perfect mechanics, breaking 80, or tour players. Very few people talk honestly about what learning golf actually feels like emotionally, socially, mentally, and physically when you start as a complete beginner.
Over the past four years, Boo has gone from knowing absolutely nothing about golf to surviving golf, becoming obsessed with golf, getting frustrated with golf, building confidence, and ultimately becoming a golfer.
According to Golf Party Live standards, she's almost there—she officially has just one year left before graduating from beginner status!
This episode is important because so many beginners believe everyone else has golf figured out. The truth is they don't. Golf is awkward at first. It's emotional, humbling, frustrating, confusing, and sometimes downright embarrassing. But if you stick with it long enough, it can also completely change your life.
In this episode, we discuss:
• What Boo's life was like before golf
• Understanding golf culture and country club stereotypes
• Year One survival mode and the biggest challenges of starting
• Golf terms that made absolutely no sense
• Her first truly memorable golf shot
• What her first on-course experience was really like
• Funny beginner mistakes, disasters, and golf cart stories
• When golf stopped being stressful and started becoming fun
• The moment she became addicted to the game
• Golf friendships and the community she discovered
• Breakthroughs that helped build confidence
• How Golf Party Live helped her grow as a golfer
We also dive into the difficult phase nobody talks about:
• When improvement starts to slow down
• Managing expectations and frustration
• Comparison and confidence struggles
• Whether social media made golf more confusing
• What a bad golf day feels like now compared to Year One
Then we move into Year Four and what it means to truly become a golfer:
• How she's different today than when she started
• Skills she now takes for granted that once felt impossible
• What still frustrates her
• What she feels most confident about
• Whether she feels comfortable playing with strangers
Of course, because this is Golf Party Live, we also share plenty of laughs:
• Funniest Golf Party Live memories
• Best beverage cart stories
• Embarrassing golf moments
• Whether Boo has ever cried because of golf
Finally, we wrap up with advice for beginner golfers:
• What she would tell a woman who is terrified to start golf
• What beginners need to stop worrying about
• What she wishes someone had told her earlier
• What helped her stick with the game
• Why beginner golf is actually brave
• The rewards waiting on the other side of the struggle
Golf can look glamorous on social media, but the reality is often messy, humbling, frustrating, awkward, emotional—and absolutely worth it.
If beginners understood that struggling is normal, they would enjoy the process so much more.
It takes courage to try something difficult. It takes courage to be uncomfortable. It takes courage to be bad at something publicly and keep showing up anyway.
And that's exactly why golf is so rewarding.
Thank you for listening to Golf Party Live. If this episode resonated with you, please share it with a friend who is learning golf or thinking about starting.
Remember: one good shot can completely change everything.
Keep growing. Stay patient with yourself. We don't play this game for money—so have fun.

What Makes a Great Golfer? Golf Etiquette Non-Negotiables
28 Jul 2026
01:00:59
This week, we're excited to welcome back one of our favorite guests, Aaron DeCorte (A.D.), whose energy, passion, and insight always make for a great conversation.
If you listened to last week's episode, we talked about respect, safety, and some of the unfortunate incidents happening on golf courses today. But this episode isn't about those stories.
It's about something bigger.
What actually makes a great golfer?
Some people may wonder if golf is broken.
We don't think the game itself is broken.
In fact, golf is healthier than it's been in decades. Courses are full, women are entering the game in record numbers, families are playing together, and younger generations are discovering this incredible sport.
That's something worth celebrating.
What concerns us isn't the game—it's that somewhere along the way we're beginning to lose some of the traditions that have made golf unlike any other sport.
I've been playing golf for 48 years. Equipment has changed. Fashion has changed. Technology has changed. Instruction has changed.
Those changes have been wonderful.
But one thing should never change:
How we treat one another.
Respect. Integrity. Sportsmanship. Taking care of the golf course. Remembering that we're sharing it with everyone else.
Those aren't old-fashioned ideas.
They're the foundation of golf.
At Golf Party Live, our mission has always been to grow the game. We want every woman who's ever been curious about golf to feel welcome. We want beginners to know they absolutely belong on the golf course.
But we also believe that as we welcome thousands of new golfers into this amazing sport, we have a responsibility to teach not only how to play—but how to be a great golfer.
Because after nearly five decades in this game, I've learned one important truth:
People won't remember what you shot. They'll remember how you made them feel.
In this episode, Boo, A.D., and I discuss what we believe are Golf Etiquette Non-Negotiables.
What Makes a Great Golfer?
Golf is one of the few sports where your character matters just as much as your score.
Then we dive into our etiquette non-negotiables:
1. Be Quiet When Someone Is Hitting
Giving someone your full attention for 20 seconds is one of the greatest signs of respect you can show on a golf course.
2. Respect the Golf Course
Replace or fill your divots, repair your ball marks, rake your bunkers, obey golf cart rules, and leave the course in better condition than you found it.
We're only borrowing the golf course for a few hours—let's take care of it.
3. Play Ready Golf
Think ahead. Read your putts while others are preparing. Bring multiple clubs when appropriate, and keep the pace moving so everyone enjoys their round.
4. Shake Hands After the Round
Whether you win or lose, look your playing partners in the eye, thank them for the round, and show appreciation.
This tradition has lasted for generations for a reason.
5. Stop Giving Unsolicited Advice
Unless someone asks for your help, don't coach, critique, or offer swing tips—especially to beginners and especially to women.
Sometimes the best support is simply encouragement.
6. Celebrate Respectfully
We love excitement! Celebrate great shots, laugh, high-five your friends, and take photos.
Just remember to protect the golf course, avoid damaging the greens, and keep your celebrations from slowing down play.
At Golf Party Live, we'll continue introducing thousands of women to this incredible game.
We'll also continue teaching the traditions that have made golf unlike any other sport.
Because growing the game and protecting its heritage can—and should—happen together.
We'd love to hear from you!
What's one golf etiquette rule you believe should always be non-negotiable?
Send us a message or email us at golfpartylive@gmail.com.
Thank you so much for listening! If this episode resonated with you, please share it with another golfer—especially someone who's new to the game.
Together, let's leave this game—and every golf course—a little better than we found it.
Until next time…
Have fun and go low!
Respect, Etiquette & Protecting the Game
21 Jul 2026
00:57:03
Golf has always been about more than just scores. At its best, it's a game built on respect, integrity, sportsmanship, and kindness. But recently, two incidents reminded us why those values matter now more than ever. Joining us for this important conversation is Aaron DeCorte. The first incident occurred at Kokopelli Golf Club, where an on-course altercation escalated to the point that police responded and the golfers involved were arrested. Just days before that, one of our own Golf Party Live ladies was struck by a golf ball. Thankfully, she instinctively covered her head and escaped with only minor injuries after being evaluated in the ER. What was most upsetting, however, was that the golfer who hit the shot never came over to check on her or apologize. That isn't the game we fell in love with. Golf is booming, and we absolutely love seeing more women, juniors, families, and beginners discovering this incredible sport. But with that growth comes a responsibility to preserve what has always made golf so special. In this episode, we discuss: ● Why we felt compelled to have this conversation. ● Golf course safety and what women should do if another group becomes hostile or confrontational. ● Why we're seeing more conflict on the golf course, including: ● Golf's explosive growth ● Longer rounds and increased frustration ● Alcohol ● More beginners entering the game without etiquette education ● Social media attitudes ● Entitlement ● Golfers struggling with change ● Why it's perfectly okay to become frustrated—but never okay to become dangerous. ● How women are helping shape the future of golf. ● Why no one "owns" the golf course. Every golfer who pays to play deserves respect. ● Why character is your greatest golf skill. ● An important question: Would you rather spend four hours with a scratch golfer who makes everyone miserable—or a 30-handicap golfer who's fun, encouraging, and kind? We hope this episode reminds all of us why we fell in love with this game. Yes, we want golf to continue growing. We want more women, more juniors, more families, and more beginners. The game is better because of it. But as we welcome thousands of new golfers every year, let's also pass along the traditions that have made golf different from every other sport: Respect. Integrity. Patience. Kindness. Those values never go out of style. If you enjoyed this episode, we'd love for you to share it with a golf friend—especially someone who's new to the game. Until next time… Have fun and go low!
Inside Our Nashville Golf Party Live Retreat
14 Jul 2026
01:01:33
Everyone keeps asking us the same question: "How was Nashville?" Today, we're giving you the full recap! Joining Boo and me is one of our wonderful retreaters, Katie Vosper, who shares her perspective on an unforgettable week in Tennessee. This was the furthest Golf Party Live has ever traveled for a retreat, and we can honestly say it exceeded every expectation. In this episode, we're sharing the funny stories, favorite memories, biggest surprises, lessons learned, and why this retreat will always hold a special place in our hearts. So, let's head to Tennessee! In This Episode: First Impressions We talk about why we chose Nashville, arriving at the beautiful grounds of Hermitage Golf Course, and the excitement of bringing Golf Party Live to a brand-new destination. Favorite Memories From the hilarious Scottish Sheep Golf Shop and Chris's unforgettable comedy skit to celebrating Boo's birthday with an amazing group of women, there was no shortage of laughter. Weather Delays… and Making the Best of It Not everything went according to plan, but sometimes the unexpected moments become the best memories. What Makes Golf Party Live Retreats Different The golf is wonderful—but it's not the reason these retreats become so meaningful. The real magic is found in the friendships, the confidence women discover, the supportive community, and the completely judgment-free environment where everyone encourages one another. That's what makes Golf Party Live so special. Funny Moments & Lessons Learned We share some of our favorite behind-the-scenes stories and reflect on what made this retreat one we'll never forget. Looking Ahead We're already counting down to our next bucket-list adventure: Golf Party Live Napa Uncorked 📍 Silverado Resort 📅 June 3–7, 2027 We can't wait to bring another incredible group of women together in beautiful Napa Valley. As we look back on Nashville, none of us really remember our scores… Well… except Boo, who proudly shot her personal best 86! 😊 We don't remember the weather delays. We don't even remember the sheep—although they were pretty unforgettable. What we remember most is watching complete strangers become genuine friends in just a few short days. And that's something we'll never get tired of. Because that's what Golf Party Live has always been about. Golf is simply the reason we all come together. The friendships are what keep us coming back. Thank you so much for listening! If you enjoyed today's episode, we'd love for you to share it with another woman who dreams of a golf getaway. Next week, we shift gears and begin an important conversation about respect, safety, and protecting the game we all love. Until next time… Have fun and go low!
Can Golf Hurt a Relationship?
07 Jul 2026
00:45:29
Today's episode was inspired by a social media post from a woman who shared that she feels like she's actually gotten worse at golf since she started playing with her boyfriend. After reading her story, we realized this is a much bigger conversation than just golf instruction.
Golf has a unique way of bringing out the very best in people—and sometimes the absolute worst. If you've ever had a cart argument, a tense round, or a silent ride home after golf, this episode is for you.
In this episode, we discuss:
• The social media post that sparked today's conversation—and why it was so eye-opening
• Our own personal golf relationship stories
• Why golf exposes communication styles, patience, expectations, and emotions
• How playing partners can impact confidence and performance
• Why many women struggle more under pressure and scrutiny
• Golf etiquette mistakes that can create tension on the course

More Than a Scorecard: Live from the Women's Golf Celebration
30 Jun 2026
00:40:00
Today we're coming to you live from the Women's Golf Celebration at Greenfield Lakes Golf Course!
This was our third annual celebration of women in golf, and what an incredible day it was. Greenfield Lakes is under new ownership and has undergone some exciting improvements, including a refreshed clubhouse, upgraded practice facilities, brand-new golf carts, and fantastic course conditions. The staff went above and beyond to help make this event a success.
Women's golf continues to grow at an incredible pace. Nearly 60% of new golfers are women, and women now make up approximately 40% of all golfers nationwide. We love seeing these numbers because they show that golf is becoming more welcoming, more inclusive, and more social than ever before.
This event was all about celebrating women in the game—whether it was someone's very first round of golf or they've been playing for years. Throughout this special live episode, we talk with ladies as they come off the course, hear about their experiences, and chat with some of the staff and volunteers who helped make the day possible.
The energy was amazing. We welcomed 114 women to the event, creating an atmosphere filled with encouragement, laughter, new friendships, and unforgettable memories.
One of our favorite things about events like this is watching women of all experience levels come together, support one another, and discover that golf truly is for everyone. Whether someone played their first round today or has been golfing for decades, the takeaway is always the same:
Golf is about so much more than the score.
It's confidence. It's friendships. It's community. It's memories. And it's having the courage to step outside your comfort zone and try something new.
A special thank you to our incredible VIP volunteers who arrived early to greet new players, help everyone feel welcome, and make the day run smoothly. You are a huge part of what makes the Golf Party Live community so special.
Thank you to all of the women who participated, our sponsors and partners, Greenfield Lakes Golf Course, and everyone who continues to support Golf Party Live.
Our mission is simple: to grow the game of golf in a fun, welcoming, beginner-friendly environment.
Until next time, keep having fun, keep learning, and keep showing up for yourself both on and off the golf course. Go Low!

The Ball Is NOT Supposed to Go Straight
09 Jun 2026
00:50:32
In this episode, Donna Taylor and Brittney Boo tackle one of the biggest myths in golf — the idea that the ball is supposed to go straight every single time.
Right out of the gate, we set the tone and break the truth wide open: the golf ball is not meant to go perfectly straight. Not for beginners. Not for experienced players. Not even for professionals. Golf is a game of patterns, not perfection.
This episode is especially powerful for beginner and intermediate golfers who feel frustrated when their shots curve, miss left, or miss right. Donna explains why ball flight curvature is completely normal and how understanding it can instantly reduce pressure, improve confidence, and lead to smarter course management.
We begin by resetting expectations and helping listeners understand what realistic ball flight actually looks like. From there, we break down the basics of ball flight in a simple, approachable way so golfers can stop fearing curves and start learning from them.
In This Episode, We Discuss: *The myth that golf shots should always go straight *Why even professional golfers play with consistent shot patterns *Setting realistic expectations for beginners and improving players *Ball flight basics: straight shots, fades, draws, slices, hooks, pushes, and pulls *Why curves on the ball are normal — and not always a bad thing *Which ball flights need correction vs. which ones you can play confidently *"Playing for your miss" and how smart golfers manage patterns *The emotional side of golf when shots don't go as planned *How frustration often comes from unrealistic expectations *Key lesson nuggets to help you feel more confident on the course
Donna shares coaching insights from working with beginner lady golfers and high school players, emphasizing that good golf is not about hitting it perfectly — it's about understanding your tendencies and managing them with confidence.
If you've ever felt discouraged because your ball doesn't go straight, this episode will be a mindset shift. You'll walk away feeling relieved, empowered, and more in control of your game.
At Golf Party Live, we believe confidence grows when expectations are realistic — and this episode is your reminder that curved shots are part of the journey, not a flaw in your game.

Enemy #1 & #2 — What's Sabotaging Your Golf Game
26 May 2026
00:51:08
This is an episode we've been wanting to do for a long time—because we see this all the time in lessons and on the range.
If you feel stuck, inconsistent, or overwhelmed in your golf game… this one might hit home.
We're breaking down the two biggest hidden enemies that sabotage your progress—and honestly, they might surprise you.
🚫 Enemy #1: Spouses & Significant Others Coaching
We get into why this is such a common (and tricky) issue in golf:
Why well-intentioned coaching often backfires What actually happens to the golfer receiving that advice The impact it can have on both your game and your relationship 💡 And don't worry—we also share how spouses and partners can help in a way that's actually supportive and productive.
📱 Enemy #2: Social Media & YouTube Instruction
This one is HUGE.
While it seems helpful, it's often one of the biggest reasons golfers struggle.
We break down the three major problems:
You don't know the source It's completely out of sequence It doesn't know YOU—your swing, your tendencies, or what you're working on The result?
Too many swing thoughts No consistency Zero clarity
✅ What To Do Instead
We walk you through a better approach:
Pick a trusted coach or system Focus on simple, foundational fundamentals Understand that improvement happens in stages Golf is hard enough—you don't need: ❌ 10 voices ❌ 10 swing thoughts ❌ 10 different opinions
You need: ✔️ Clarity ✔️ Simplicity ✔️ Trust in your process
If this episode resonated with you, share it with a friend—especially one who might need to hear it 😉
Thanks for listening to Golf Party Live. As always… have fun out there and go low 💛⛳️
What Actually Matters in Golf (More Than I Ever Realized)
19 May 2026
00:40:35
📝 Episode Description
Today's episode is a special one.
I'm recording this right after finishing my Club Championship — and it got me thinking… not about swing mechanics or perfect shots, but about what actually matters when the pressure is real.
Because here's the truth:
Golf is not played the same on the range as it is on the course — and it's definitely not played the same under pressure.
So today, we're diving into the things that matter more than I ever realized — the elements that truly show up when it counts.
⛳ What We Cover
*Why it's not your swing — it's your tempo *Tempo as the foundation of consistency *Finishing your swing as a true sign of commitment *What your reactions under stress reveal about your game *Why commitment to the shot is a game changer *The role of confidence and mindset in every round 💡 Key Takeaway
It's not about having the prettiest swing.
It's not about being perfect.
And it's definitely not about never feeling nervous.
It's about your tempo, your commitment, your mindset — and how you respond when pressure shows up.
💬 Final Thoughts
The swing you bring to the course is only part of the story.
The mindset you bring is what carries you through the round.
Thank you for tuning in. I'm so grateful for this game, this community, and for all of you who continue to show up, learn, and grow through golf.

If you're a beginner golfer…
If you're trying to figure out how to actually learn the game…
If you've ever asked yourself, "Am I doing this right?"

Yardages 101: How to Choose the Right Club, Read the Numbers & Play SMART Golf
21 Apr 2026
00:57:12
Have you ever stood in the fairway holding three different clubs… panicking… because you have no clue what to hit?
Or wondered…
"Am I supposed to hit my 7 iron 100 yards? 150 yards?? … WHAT EVEN IS NORMAL??"
Then this episode is for you.
Because one of the biggest confidence builders in golf is understanding yardages — and once you do, your entire game becomes calmer, smarter, and way more fun.
And if you've ever heard someone say "front, center, back" and thought it sounded like a seating chart… 😂 you are definitely in the right place.
In This Episode, We Break Down:
✅ What "yardage" actually means
We start from the very beginning so it finally makes sense:
*What yardage is measuring *The difference between carry yardage vs total yardage *Why some shots fly farther (or shorter) than you expect
✅ The 3 yardages every golfer needs to know
Most greens give you three numbers:
Front Center Back
And here's the golden rule: ⭐ Play to the CENTER unless you have a very good reason not to. (Seriously — center yardage is your best friend.)
How to Figure Out Your Yardages (Even as a Beginner)
Yardages aren't something you magically "know" — you learn them as you grow.
We share a simple way to start: *Go to the range and hit 10 balls with each club *Toss the bad swings *Average the solid shots *Write it down
Important reminder: ⚠️ The range lies. Range balls are often harder, heavier, and less responsive, meaning your range yardages may be shorter than your on-course yardages
And we also talk about why your yardages change week to week based on: *wind *temperature *ball contact *your body & mindset *confidence level (and yes… that's a real thing!)
If you're a newer golfer playing often, you'll need to revisit your yardages regularly — because you're improving quickly.
Tools for Finding Yardages
We cover the most common options and what we recommend: *Rangefinders *GPS apps *Cart GPS systems
We talk about what we like best, what feels easiest for beginners, and what gives the most confidence on the course.
External Factors That Change Yardage - because golf isn't played in a vacuum — we break down: *wind (headwind vs tailwind) *uphill and downhill shots temperature changes *slopes and uneven lies …and why these things matter more than you think.
Real-Life Yardage Decision Making
We walk through what it looks like in real time: *how to pace yardages like a pro *how to make smarter club selections *how to stop second-guessing yourself
And Brittney Boo shares what she's learned about yardages in her own beginner journey — the wins, the mistakes, and what actually helped her.
Rapid Fire Yardage Tips
We wrap up with quick practical tips you can take straight to the course to immediately start playing smarter and more confidently.

Golf Lingo: The Vocabulary Every Beginner Wishes They Learned Sooner
17 Mar 2026
01:06:31
If you've ever felt like everyone on the golf course got a dictionary except you, this episode is for you.
Donna Taylor and Brittney Boo are diving into one of their favorite things to teach — and one of the things beginners are most embarrassed to ask about: golf language.
Golf has its own vocabulary, and no one ever really explains it. This episode is your judgment-free, beginner-friendly guide to the words you hear on the course — and what they actually mean.
💡 What Inspired This Episode This episode was inspired by one of Donna's students during a putting class. The student asked what the word "span" meant and looked at Donna like she was speaking a different language.
That was the lightbulb moment: We assume people know these words — but no one is teaching them.
So today… welcome to Golf Lingo 101.

Why Golf is Booming: The New Era of Golfers & What That Means for You
03 Mar 2026
00:57:34
This episode is personal.
Because what's happening in golf right now is something I never could've imagined growing up in the sport — and it's why now is the BEST time in history to be a beginner (especially if you're a woman who's brand new).
Golf is booming at a rapid pace… and the new face of the game looks nothing like it did in the 80s.
If you've ever felt like you don't belong on a golf course yet… or like you're "late" to learning…
You're not late.
You're right on time.
And the truth is: you're part of a movement.
In This Episode, We Talk About:
✅ How golf has changed from the 80s to today
We rewind back to what golf looked like when Donna was growing up playing junior golf in the 80s: *golf wasn't trendy *golf wasn't "cool" *girls weren't flocking to the sport *diversity was rare *junior golf wasn't the powerhouse it is today
Brittney Boo is shocked hearing about all the things we didn't have back then. 😂
And we even bring in a fun bonus perspective:
🎙️ "The Lipper" (Donna's dad) shares what golf was like in the 1950s
Yep… way back. LOL.
Golf Today = A Whole New Game
Then we fast-forward to the present and break down how modern golf has evolved into something completely different:
Golf is now: *Cool *Social *Active *Lifestyle *Inclusive *and more welcoming than ever
Golf is no longer just a sport — it's community, connection, and confidence-building.
Who's Entering Golf the Fastest?
We break down the biggest demographics driving the golf boom:
1) Women Women are now the fastest-growing segment of adult new golfers — and we LOVE to see it.
2) Junior Golf Junior golf is stronger than ever and continues to be the most consistent pipeline of new players (especially when you include kids in the overall growth).
3) Diversity One of the most beautiful shifts in the sport: *representation matters *visibility matters *community matters
Golf is opening its doors wider than ever — and it's changing everything.
Why Golf Is Growing So Fast
We discuss what's fueling the boom: *people want to be outside *community matters more than ever *golf is an escape + a lifestyle *technology has changed learning
Donna also shares an important message for beginners: ⚠️ Technology can help… but it can also hurt if you use it the wrong way.
We talk about what to be careful with when learning from tech so you don't get overwhelmed, stuck, or confused.
And yes…
📱 Social media made golf FUN again. It brought in a whole new energy — and helped people see themselves in the sport.
Why This Matters to YOU (the Beginner Woman)
This is the heart of the episode: You are not behind. You are not "late." You are right on time.
Donna reflects on why this shift means everything to her — because helping women feel like they belong on the golf course (even as a total beginner) is the mission.
And Brittney Boo shares why she thinks golf is cool now… and why she loves being part of the new era too.
Our Message to You: *Thank you for being part of it, ladies. *Your presence matters. *Your journey matters. *Your confidence matters.
Golf is growing — and you belong in this new era of the game.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for being part of this movement.
We'll see you next week on Golf Party Live.
Keep having a blast, keep representing… and go low. ⛳✨
Dr. Andrea Hogan — The Golfing Professor
17 Feb 2026
00:54:57
In this episode of Golf Party Live, we sit down with Dr. Andrea Hogan, also known as The Golfing Professor—a psychology professor, content creator, author, and passionate beginner golfer whose journey is as inspiring as it is relatable.
Andrea has only been playing golf for about one year, yet she's already experienced powerful breakthroughs that resonate deeply with beginner golfers. She brings a unique perspective by blending golf mindset, confidence, identity, and psychology, helping players better understand why golf can feel so challenging—especially between the ears.
In this episode, we cover: *Andrea's personal golf journey and how she got started in the game *Why golf is so mentally difficult, particularly for beginners *The biggest mindset traps new golfers fall into (and how to avoid them) *Practical mindset tips from a psychology professor's perspective *What Andrea teaches and loves most about being a psychology professor *The parallels between students learning psychology and golfers learning the game *How she built the Golfing Professor brand *Her experience creating content, launching a TikTok shop, and what surprised her most about combining social media + golf
This conversation is insightful, encouraging, and full of "aha" moments—perfect for anyone new to golf or anyone who's ever felt frustrated, stuck, or intimidated by the mental side of the game.
We had such a great time getting to know Andrea, and we know our listeners will connect with her story and benefit from her thoughtful, beginner-friendly advice.

Love on the Fairway: Our Golf Party Live Singles Recap + What's Next
10 Feb 2026
01:01:43
Something brand new has been lighting people up — and today's episode dives straight into it.
In this episode, we recap our Golf Party Live Singles Mixer, talk about why it worked so well, and share what's coming next for this rapidly growing part of the Golf Party Live community.
This topic is deeply personal to Donna. She's a connector by nature — she met her husband through golf, and she even played matchmaker for her dad and stepmom, who have now been married for 29 years. So when she hears singles say they're exhausted, frustrated, and craving a better way to meet someone, she truly gets it. Helping people connect through golf is something she's incredibly passionate about.
We're joined by Annie Safa, who was on the front lines helping run the entire singles mixer. Annie assisted with logistics, check-in flow, and overall event execution — and she brings great energy and behind-the-scenes insight to this conversation. Annie is also Golf Party Live's social media manager and a close friend of Donna's, which makes the discussion both fun and honest.
Together, we recap: *What actually happened at the singles mixer *Annie's first impressions as people started arriving *Whether the mixer felt awkward (spoiler: it didn't) *The exact moment Annie realized this event was going to be a major success
We then dig into why the demand for meeting singles through golf is so high right now. Singles are tired. Online dating feels exhausting, transactional, and disconnected — and we hear this over and over again:
"I want to meet someone naturally." "I want to meet a quality person." "I want to meet someone who actually has a life."
Golf creates a completely different environment.
We talk about why golf attracts quality people and why meeting someone on the course gives you real insight into who they are. Golf shows you: *How someone handles pressure *How they respond to a bad shot *How they treat staff and other players *Whether they're honest, respectful, encouraging, or negative
Golf has a way of revealing someone's true character — and that's why it works so well as a way to connect.
We also explain why this mixer isn't awkward, how it's intentionally designed, and why it feels comfortable and organic for both beginners and experienced golfers.
Donna then shares her personal story of meeting her husband through golf, her natural role as a matchmaker and connector, and why this new singles chapter feels so aligned with her purpose.
Finally, we wrap up by sharing what's coming next, including: *Upcoming singles mixers *An exclusive Golf Party Live Singles Play Date *And exciting new experiences we're currently building
Thank you so much for tuning in and supporting Golf Party Live. We appreciate you — and we're just getting started. 💖⛳️

The Pre-Shot Routine: How to Be Confident, Consistent & Fun to Play With
27 Jan 2026
00:59:28
In this episode of Golf Party Live, Donna and Brittney Boo break down one of the most important — and most misunderstood — parts of the golf game: the pre-shot routine.
Inspired by a real-life moment on the course (we've all been there!), this episode dives into why having a consistent pre-shot routine matters not just for your game, but for your playing partners too. If you've ever felt rushed, unsure, or stuck over the ball — or played with someone who takes forever — this episode is for you.
We talk about how a simple, repeatable routine can build confidence, improve consistency, and help you play faster and more enjoyably.
In This Episode, We Cover:
• What a pre-shot routine actually is
• Why every golfer — especially beginners — needs one
• How long your routine should really take
• Why "waggles" matter (and what they actually are)
• The difference between a waggle and a wiggle
• Common mistakes beginners make before hitting the ball
• How to create a routine that keeps you confident and fun to play with
Whether you're brand new to golf or looking to tighten up your game, this episode will help you step up to the ball with clarity, confidence, and flow.
⛳️ Perfect For:
✔️ Beginner and intermediate golfers
✔️ Anyone who wants to speed up play
✔️ Golfers who want more confidence over every shot
✔️ Players who care about good etiquette and good vibes
🎧 Listen now and start playing faster, freer, and more confidently — your group will thank you!
Your First Year of Golf: How to Survive It, Love It & Keep Showing Up — Part 2 with Melissa Jackson
20 Jan 2026
01:06:09
We're back with the incredible Melissa Jackson for Part 2 of one of our most encouraging and heartfelt conversations: how to survive — and thrive — in your very first year of golf.
In Part 1, we focused on the basics: inconsistency, topping, chunking… all the things every beginner battles.
Today, we go deeper into the emotional, mental, and practical challenges that come with being new to this game.
🔥 What's Normal for Beginners Beginners deal with FAR more than just swing issues. We talk through the struggles no one warns you about, including: Comparison and self-criticism Feeling embarrassed or judged by other golfers Mental fatigue and frustration Leaving the course drained because improvement feels slow
And we remind you: if you're frustrated, GOOD — that means you care. Frustration is passion in disguise.
🔥 Short Game Avoidance Let's be honest… most beginners avoid putting and chipping. But short game is where confidence grows, and it's the fastest path to lower scores. We talk about how to embrace short-game practice and why it changes everything.
🔥 Etiquette & Course Confusion Where do you stand? When do you hit? Who goes first? What's expected?
Golf etiquette can feel overwhelming at first, so we walk through the most common areas of confusion. We also share how Golf Party Live has created both an etiquette episode and a local etiquette clinic to give beginners confidence long before they reach the first tee.
🔥 Unrealistic Expectations Many beginners believe they should be "good" by lesson four — and we explain why that mindset is not only unrealistic but harmful. We answer real beginner questions such as: "I get nervous playing with better golfers — what do I do?" "How often should I practice?"
From a teaching standpoint, the goal isn't perfection… it's enough consistency to have fun.
That first pure shot — that sound — once you feel it, you'll chase it forever. That's the gift from the golf gods.
🔥 The Truth About the Learning Curve Golf has a five-year learning curve to go from absolute beginner to confident intermediate player.
But once you're through it, the game becomes a lifetime of joy.
You will always keep learning — and that's the beauty of golf.
🔥 Final Takeaways & Heartfelt Moments We end the episode with honest reflection, encouragement, and a deep appreciation for Melissa's journey. She is living proof that if you keep showing up, the game will always give back.
Thank you all for tuning in, for sharing this podcast with your golfing friends, and for being part of our Golf Party Live family.
If you're in your first year — hang in there. You're doing better than you think.

Boyfriends, Dads & Birdies: How Men Help (and Hinder) Women Getting Into Golf
09 Dec 2025
00:49:51
If today sounds a little different… that's because it is.
We've officially moved into our brand new studio space, Taylor's 19th Hole. We're literally sitting at a poker table with our custom neon sign glowing behind us, overlooking the 3rd fairway at Seville Golf & Country Club. It is the perfect scenery and vibe for this show — fun, community-driven, and rooted in honesty, integrity, and treating people with respect. This room finally feels like home, so of course we had to kick things off with a topic that every lady golfer can relate to: the man who got you into golf.
In this episode, we're talking about how men influence women getting into golf — sometimes on purpose, sometimes by accident:
In this episode we cover:
🎯 Why men are often the "gatekeepers" of golf How access, invitations, and equipment usually start with the guys… and why that's slowly starting to change. 💕 The Supportive Boyfriend/Husband The hype man who buys the clubs, books the tee time, and genuinely wants you out there with him (even if he secretly regrets it when you get better). 🛠️ "Let Me Fix Your Swing" Guy The well-meaning coach-in-disguise who can unintentionally frustrate, overwhelm, or completely turn a woman off from the game… and how to handle that dynamic in a healthy way. 👨👧 Dads, Grandpas & Brothers The daddy's girls, the grandpas who put a tiny club in your hand, the brothers who dragged you to the range — the family stories that started it all. 💔➡️⛳ "I Joined Golf to Meet a Guy… or Get Away From One" The women who picked up golf to connect with someone… and the women who picked it up to reclaim their time, sanity, and social life. 💚 Why Women Stay in Golf Spoiler: it usually stops being about the man and starts being about confidence, community, and feeling strong. We share stories from the Golf Party Live community that highlight exactly that. 🧠 Donna's Instructor Tips Practical advice for ladies learning from a partner or male family member, including: How to set boundaries with "fix your swing" feedback When to bring in a neutral third party (hello, golf instructor) How to keep golf fun, light, and yours We want to hear YOUR story!
Ladies, we know almost every woman has a "man story" behind how she started golf.

Get Aligned – The Secret to Better Golf Shots
18 Nov 2025
00:59:48
Sometimes your swing isn't the problem… your aim is.
In this episode, Donna and Brittney Boo unpack one of the most overlooked fundamentals in golf: alignment. It's simple, it's powerful, and it might be the missing piece to your game.
Brittney brings a fresh perspective as she shares her own struggles with alignment—especially on the greens—making this episode extra relatable for golfers of all levels.
⛳ What You'll Learn 1. Why Alignment Matters *Alignment is the foundation of your golf game. *Even a perfect swing can't save you if you're aimed wrong. *Learn how to recognize your personal misalignment tendencies.
2. Full Swing Alignment *How to pick a very specific target. *Using an intermediate target for better aim. *Step-by-step: clubhead first, then body, then final glance & go. *A drill to retrain your brain to "see" proper alignment.
3. Chipping Alignment *Why an open stance is often best. *How to square shoulders to your target line. *Clubface control: square for low chips, slightly open for soft, high shots.
4. Putting Alignment *The area where alignment matters most. *Eyes over the ball, putter face first, feet parallel to target line. *Practice drills: chalk line, string, and alignment sticks.
5. Mental Alignment *Alignment isn't just physical—it's mental, too. *Develop a routine that builds confidence and consistency on every shot.
🎯 The Takeaway By the end of this episode, you'll have a clear, step-by-step routine for every part of your game—full swing, chipping, and putting—so you can start hitting straighter shots and sinking more putts.
