070: Teach your kids the truth about women (PROVERBS SERIES)20 Jul 202400:15:50

The society we live in is obviously confused about manhood and womanhood, and in particular, womanhood has been characterized in many distorted and unhelpful ways. As Christian parents, it's our responsibility and privilege to teach our children - boys and girls - what a real, godly woman is like. Today, we dive into Proverbs 31 to glean some insight into that task.

069: Your kids need a work ethic (PROVERBS SERIES)13 Jul 202400:12:18

Did you grow up in a home where you were expected to do chores, to help out around the house, or to get a job to help provide for the family in some small way? If so, you may have been given one of life's biggest blessings - a work ethic.

This episode briefly examines the issue of work ethic, why it's important, and how we as Christian parents should be (can be) leading our children into an understanding of how the wise, God-fearing person can bless and benefit their OWN LIFE through doing quality, consistent, diligent work.

FULL SHOW NOTES & RESOURCES: https://GodFearingKids.com/027  CONTACT: 📩 feedback@GodFearingKids.com ON THIS EPISODE:

Our definition of a child being “socially awkward” is one that may cause them to struggle with interacting with others in a way that reflects the love that Jesus taught. This may manifest in their behavior and be seen in their reluctance to engage with others, or in their lack of understanding of social norms.

It could also be seen in their difficulty in forming meaningful relationships with their peers, or in their discomfort when placed in social situations.

In each case, it is important to remember that Jesus requires us to love one another, and for children to be able to interact with others in a way that reflects this love.

It’s YOUR job as a parent to teach them in this area.

068: Teach your kids to honor you (PROVERBS SERIES)06 Jul 202400:10:51

There are really only TWO commands the scriptures give to kids, speciically. They are: "Obey your parents" and "Honor your father and mother."

Here's the kicker (and sometimes the awkward feeling things): We parents are responsible to teach these two commands to our children and to help them recoginze when they are not fulfilling them.

This episode is about that.

If you take just a moment to examine the means by which you function in the world, you’ll discover that MOST of what you do is performed out of mental habits. In other words, the way you’ve learned to THINK about things is what guides the way you behave, how you make decisions, the manner in which you respond to other people, and a load of other things. Your kids have already developed some of the mental habits that will shape their lives, but there is still time for you to guide them to tear down destructive mental habits and to develop the most important of all mental habits — the habit of trusting God. Are you a parent who tells your kids not to "tattle?" We get why you might do that - tattling can surely be an obnoxious and irritating thing. But is it the RIGHT thing to make a blanket rule like that? Is there an opportunity we Christian parents are missing when we do that?

As you probably expect, we've got a different view on this one - but as always, it's because of what the Bible says to us about how to live with each other in Christian community.

This episode, we want to remind you of a fundamental attitude that Christian parents MUST have. It’s the attitude of DEPENDENCE on Jesus… and the habit of going to Him FIRST for the help you need.

This episode, we want to emphasize the importance of having a fundamental attitude that Christian parents need to embrace: that of DEPENDENCE on Jesus. It is so important to establish the habit of going to Him FIRST for the help that is needed, not to rely on our own strength and abilities alone, OR to rush to other resources before consulting Him.

The New Testament is filled with instructions to the church (duh). And since we Christian parents are endeavoring to build homes that are centered on Christ (just like the church is), doesn't it make sense that we should be applying the instructions Jesus gives to His church, to our families?

This episode focuses on the 47 "one another" statements and how we parents can use them to better grow and equip our family members to represent Jesus in the world.

Hey parents, take a few moments to think through your growing up years. What were the different stages you went through and what were the markers in your life, those pivotal moments that you wish you had been better prepared for as parents? Do you think there are things you could do to help your kids be prepared for those same things and even more?

If we're willing to put in preparation for these kinds of things, shouldn't we be putting in at least that much effort in preparing our children for life? I mean that's really what parenting is. It's preparing our kids for life.

HEART CHECK: Who are you listening to?08 Dec 202200:10:19

Hello again, parents, this is Mindi Green and I have a heart check episode today that I wanted to share with you. And I wanted to ask the question, who are you listening to for advice? As parents, I hear a lot from parents how they've read this article or they've heard this podcast or their friend told them some advice on their child. And sometimes I'm encouraged because it is good counsel that they received. But many times I'm saddened because it sounds like worldly counsel. And so I'm wanting to ask you as parents, who do you go to first when you need counsel? And my encouragement to you, my, my counsel to you today would be, God should always be your first source of wisdom and help. And as we've said in other episodes, our hearts need to be completely in 100% dependent on the Lord. And so are you going to him asking him for wisdom about the issues with your children, how to raise them, how to love them, how to teach them and train them.
