Is Drinking More Water the Key to Losing More Weight on Wegovy, Ozempic or Zepbound?
Saison 1 · Épisode 17
mardi 1 avril 2025 • Durée 10:31
In this episode we explore if drinking more water is the secret to losing more weight on a GLP-1 like Ozempic, Wegovy or Zepbound.
Drinking more water helps you lose more weight because:
- Reduces side effects from GLP-1 medications (especially constipation and nausea)
- Helps maintain energy levels and cognitive function
- Supports kidney function for processing medications
- Promote healthy digestion
- Supports your metabolism and weight management
I think the general estimate we were told as kids to drink 8 cups of water a day is probably not enough water for most people on a GLP-1.
How much is enough water every day? It depends on a number of variables including your age, activity level, weight, climate etc.
The math gets pretty complex so we created a free Drink More Water calculator that calculates a personal estimate for how much water people on GLP-1 journey should drink daily to lose more weight.
https://glp1tribe.com/water-calculator
One good rule of thumb is half your body weight in ounces of water each day. On top of that, many healthcare professionals have suggested people on GLP-1 should drink 10% more water than the normal person. But the reason for the calculator is when you factor in all the variables we should probably drink a lot more water than we think.
- Consider using one of the cool bluetooth water bottles that connects to an app and tracks your daily water consumption.
- One thing I have found helpful is drinking small sips of water all day instead of a lot at once.
- Watermelon is great because it's 92% water!
The good news is testing if drinking more water improves results is free and easy thing for everyone to try. I hope this is helpful for others.
How Long Should People Take Ozempic, Wegovy, or Zepbound? What is Maintenance Mode? Long Term Usage Pros and Cons
Saison 1 · Épisode 16
lundi 31 mars 2025 • Durée 17:10
The duration of GLP-1 medication use is often long-term for both type 2 diabetes and weight management, with many patients continuing on these medications in a "maintenance mode" after achieving initial treatment goals. This maintenance phase is crucial for sustaining weight loss, maintaining glycemic control, and potentially realizing the cardioprotective and renoprotective benefits associated with GLP-1 receptor agonists.
While long-term GLP-1 therapy offers significant advantages, it is essential to consider the potential risks, side effects, and the often substantial cost of these medications.
The decision regarding the appropriate duration of treatment is highly individualized and should be made through a collaborative discussion between the patient and their healthcare provider, taking into account factors such as treatment response, individual goals, presence of comorbidities, tolerability, lifestyle, and socioeconomic considerations. Continuous monitoring is vital for patients in maintenance mode to ensure ongoing effectiveness and to detect any potential long-term adverse effects.
Finally, while GLP-1 medications are a powerful tool, a holistic approach to managing weight and blood sugar should always include lifestyle modifications, and patients should be aware of alternative strategies that can support their long-term health and well-being. When used appropriately and for the necessary duration, GLP-1 receptor agonists hold significant promise in improving the health and quality of life for individuals with type 2 diabetes and obesity.
How GLP-1 Medications Quiet the Unrelenting Food Noise
Saison 1 · Épisode 7
dimanche 23 mars 2025 • Durée 13:55
Imagine a constant hum in the background of your mind, a radio station perpetually tuned to thoughts of food. Even after a satisfying meal, the mental chatter persists: What will you eat next? Should you grab a snack? That's "food noise" – a pervasive preoccupation with food that can dominate thoughts and make it difficult to focus on anything else . For many, this isn't just occasional hunger; it's a relentless mental tug-of-war with cravings and meal planning. However, a new class of medications known as GLP-1 receptor agonists is offering a potential solution, effectively turning down the volume on this disruptive "noise" and transforming lives . This podcast will delve into the intricacies of food noise, explore how GLP-1 medications work to quiet it, and share the experiences of individuals who have found relief, along with insights from medical experts.

The Potential of GLP-1 Medications Treating and Curing Sleep Apnea
Saison 1 · Épisode 5
samedi 22 mars 2025 • Durée 14:34
The evidence strongly suggests that GLP-1 medications, particularly tirzepatide, hold significant promise in reducing the severity of obstructive sleep apnea in individuals with obesity. Clinical trials and meta-analyses have demonstrated substantial reductions in the Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI), along with significant weight loss and improvements in related cardiometabolic risk factors. The recent FDA approval of tirzepatide (Zepbound) as the first medication for sleep apnea marks a major advancement in the field.
The potential benefits of GLP-1s extend beyond just AHI reduction, with indications of improved subjective sleep quality and reduced daytime sleepiness. While there is no direct evidence in the reviewed material regarding the reduction of snoring as a primary outcome, it is plausible that this symptom may also improve as a secondary effect of weight loss and improved airway patency.

The Weight of Perception: Fatphobia and the GLP-1 Revelation
Saison 1 · Épisode 4
samedi 22 mars 2025 • Durée 21:50
Weight stigma—often referred to as fatphobia or weight bias—pervades many aspects of life, from healthcare and employment to everyday social interactions. This bias assumes that larger bodies are less desirable, less disciplined, or even less worthy. Meanwhile, a new class of medications known as GLP-1 agonists (including brand names like Ozempic and Wegovy) has made significant weight loss more attainable for many. These drugs, originally developed to treat diabetes, have been repurposed as potent weight-loss aids, leading to dramatic transformations in patients’ bodies
The “GLP-1 revelation” refers to how these rapid weight changes have exposed the extent of fatphobia ingrained in U.S. culture. When individuals shed pounds quickly via weekly injections of semaglutide (the active ingredient in Ozempic), they often find that society treats them very differently—revealing biases that were always there. This podcast delves into personal stories from Americans who have experienced this shift, examines psychological impacts of fatphobia, and presents data on the social and economic disparities it causes in the U.S. It also contrasts treatment people get before and after GLP-1-induced weight loss, illustrating what these changes say about American culture’s deep-seated biases.

The sources offer expert guidance and practical strategies for minimizing hair shedding, including focusing on a nutrient-dense diet, considering supplements with medical advice, adopting gentle hair care practices, and managing stress. They also discuss the typical timeline for hair regrowth and when seeking professional medical help is recommended.
