Radhika Desai: Neoliberalism, Economic War, BRICS & a New Russia

mercredi 13 août 2025Durée 51:50

Radhika Desai discusses how neoliberalism has financialised and de-industrialised Western economies. The economic war to reverse the decline of the West has instead intensified the decline, and BRICS has become an important institution to construct an alternative post-neoliberal economic system. Russia's shift from Europe to Eurasia is at the centre of the new international economic system. Jeffrey Sachs: Trump-Putin Meeting - Peace or Deception?

mercredi 13 août 2025Durée 31:07

Professor Jeffrey Sachs discusses the surprise meeting between Trump and Putin. Is this political theatrics, an effort to fundamentally transform US-Russia relations, or merely deception? If Trump's language shifts from "unconditional ceasefire" to ending NATO expansionism, there could be reason to be very optimistic. However, Trump has also become known for his deception and weakness in terms of standing up against the hawkish political establishment.

Chas Freeman: Israel Is Overextended, Exhausted & Facing Blowback

lundi 4 août 2025Durée 49:13

Ambassador Chas Freeman outlines why Israel is overextended, exhausted and facing blowback. Ambassador Freeman is a career diplomat (retired) who was Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs from 1993-94, earning the highest public service awards of the Department of Defense for his roles in designing a NATO-centered post-Cold War European security system and in reestablishing defense and military relations with China. He served as U. S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia (during operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm). He was Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs during the historic U.S. mediation of Namibian independence from South Africa and Cuban troop withdrawal from Angola.

Amb. M.K Bhadrakumar: Russia Must Respond to the Attack on Its Nuclear Forces

vendredi 13 juin 2025Durée 45:57

Indian Ambassador M.K. Bhadrakumar argues that Trump's words do not match his actions. It is extremely unlikely that the US was not involved in the attack on Russia's nuclear forces, and Bhadrakumar argues that the failure by Russia to respond would be profoundly irresponsible.Ambassador Bhadrakumar was a career diplomat for 30 years in the Indian Foreign Service, and is now a columnist for Hindu and Deccan Herald Indian newspapers.Follow Prof. Glenn Diesen:Substack: https://glenndiesen.substack.com/X/Twitter: https://x.com/Glenn_DiesenPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/glenndiesenSupport the channel:PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/glenndiesenBuy me a Coffee: buymeacoffee.com/gdiesengGo Fund Me: https://gofund.me/09ea012f

Einar Tangen: The Post-American World Economy

vendredi 13 juin 2025Durée 44:21

Einar Tangen is a Senior Fellow at Teihe Institute & Chairman of Asia Narratives. America's unpredictable and aggressive economic behaviour over the past decade is indicative of decline and efforts to reverse its former hegemonic position. China aims to lock America into a predictable and stable economic partnership, although its main priority is to diversify its economic partnerships and develop a new international economic architecture. The recent ASEAN-GCC-China Summit in Malaysia demonstrates how the foundations of the old world economy are unravelling.Follow Prof. Glenn Diesen:Substack: https://glenndiesen.substack.com/X/Twitter: https://x.com/Glenn_DiesenPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/glenndiesenSupport the channel: PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/glenndiesenBuy me a Coffee: buymeacoffee.com/gdiesengGo Fund Me: https://gofund.me/09ea012f

Alexander Mercouris & Ian Proud: Georgia as a Second Front Against Russia?

jeudi 12 juin 2025Durée 41:07

Broadcasting from Georgia, I discuss with Alexander Mercouris and Ian Proud the security challenges of Georgia as a small country on the border of large powers. Russia has legitimate security concerns from Russia, although the efforts by the US and its allies to use Georgia as a proxy are also a security concern. How can Georgia navigate the complex geopolitics that also divide its society?Follow Prof. Glenn Diesen:Substack: https://glenndiesen.substack.com/X/Twitter: https://x.com/Glenn_DiesenPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/glenndiesenSupport the channel:PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/glenndiesenBuy me a Coffee: buymeacoffee.com/gdiesengGo Fund Me: https://gofund.me/09ea012f

Seyed Mohammad Marandi: Iran Nuclear Deal Complicated by Attack on Russia's Nuclear Forces. Episode from 9 June 2025.

jeudi 12 juin 2025Durée 36:35

Prof. Seyed Mohammad Marandi argues that the attack on Russia's nuclear forces complicates a US-Iran nuclear deal, as any transparency on Iran's part becomes a vulnerability.

Mariam Lashkhi: NGO Nation - Who Speaks for Georgia?

jeudi 12 juin 2025Durée 56:54

Mariam Lashkhi is a representative of the Georgian Dream Party and a member of the Georgian Parliament.

A strong civil society is required as a balance to state power in a healthy democracy. However, what happens when civil society is represented by "non-governmental organisations" (NGOs) that are financed by foreign governments with strong geopolitical interests? On the dividing lines of a redivided Europe, Georgia finds itself with thousands of "NGO's" financed by Western governments, many with close cooperation with foreign intelligence services. The government in Georgia passed an NGO transparency law, which was immediately denounced in the West as a "Russian law". While the government of Georgia has no diplomatic relations with Russia and aspires to join NATO, it is nonetheless dismissed as "pro-Russian" after refusing to join the fighting against Russia. As the Prime Minister of Georgia warned, the NGOs are used by the US to topple the government so a second front can be opened against Russia.Follow Prof. Glenn Diesen:Substack: https://glenndiesen.substack.com/X/Twitter: https://x.com/Glenn_DiesenPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/glenndiesenSupport the channel:PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/glenndiesenBuy me a Coffee: buymeacoffee.com/gdiesengGo Fund Me: https://gofund.me/09ea012f

Ulrike Guérot: Censorship, Cancellation & Death of Democracy in Europe

jeudi 12 juin 2025Durée 01:05:11

Ulrike Guérot is one of the leading German political scientists and experts on Europe. Guérot outlines how European academia began to change after the global financial crisis (2008-09) as the crisis resulted in reduced acceptance for criticism and the narrowing of acceptable debate. Following her criticism of the Covid policies, Guérot discovered that she was increasingly met with personal attacks rather than counter-arguments. When she questioned the narrative of an "unprovoked" Russian invasion of Ukraine she was suddenly accused of taking the side of Russia, a vicious smear campaign began, colleagues and friends turned against her, and a search to discover anything that could be interpreted as "academic dishonesty" eventually led to being fired from the university. The story about how one of Germany's leading academics could be cancelled tells a wider story about the decline of academic freedom, the efforts to crush all dissent, and the revival of European authoritarianism.
