| |||
| 38. Twilight Struggle (2005) | 28 Mar 2025 | 02:26:04 | |
I didn't expect Decoy's suggestions of games to strike me the way they have this season, and perhaps the best example of this phenomena is this game! I can't stress enough just how special this one is! Come hang :) The List:
| |||
| 37. Mahjong (1850) | 28 Mar 2025 | 02:12:57 | |
This game is a hard one to quantify in a lot of ways! It's both 1850 and 1920, it's both Mahjong and Riichi Mahjong, it's both awesome and hard to actually actualize! Come hang :) The List:
| |||
| 36. Red Dragon Inn (2007) | 28 Mar 2025 | 02:07:19 | |
"In Red Dragon Inn, you and your friends are a party of heroic, fantasy adventurers. You've raided the dungeon, killed the monsters, and taken their treasure. Now you're back, and what better way to celebrate your most recent victory than to spend an evening at the Red Dragon Inn. You and your adventuring companions will spend the night drinking, gambling, and roughhousing. The last person who is both sober enough to remain conscious and shrewd enough to hold onto his Gold Coins wins the game." The List:
| |||

| 35. Root (2018) | 28 Mar 2025 | 02:26:40 | |
It's hard to encapsulate the description of this episode in just a few words. Let's just say, without this game, there is no this show. A monumental game and a monumental episode. The List:
| |||
| 34. Disney Villainous (2018) | 28 Mar 2025 | 01:47:29 | |
Welp, with a title like this, Its about 50/50. It's either good, or its trash (which i guess is always the case with games). But this one is better than people give it credit for, or than you might think. And you can say mean shit about cute Disney characters too... The List:
| |||
| 33. Dune Imperium (2020) | 28 Mar 2025 | 01:55:48 | |

| 49. Discworld: Ankh Morkpork (2011) | 29 Mar 2025 | 01:39:53 | |
It isn't that I don't want to not like this game, nor is it not that I don't want to not be non-positive, but I have a sneaking suspicion that all of this is all a farce, even this very episode! The Ranking

| |||
| 25. Go (-2200) | 01 May 2023 | 01:43:58 | |
Welcome to the last game of Season 1! We've been talking about it for a while, and thought of no better game as fitting for a final game to cover in season one than this one. We're excited for not only this game, but next week's actual season finale, our re-ranking! Here is the current list for the last time.
| |||
| 24. Scythe (2016) | 24 Apr 2023 | 01:39:05 | |
Welcome to a Euro that is not at all advertised as such! This one is an enigma for me, and one that is wayyyyy more like Mario Party than originally meets the eye. Come hang :D The list so far:
| |||
| 23. Fort (2020) | 17 Apr 2023 | 01:58:38 | |
If you like building forts with blankets, or cardboard, or wood, or metal, have you tried doing it with cards in a deckbuilder? U should. This game truly has something for everyone! The List so far:
| |||
| 22. Incan Gold (2005) | 10 Apr 2023 | 01:16:27 | |
Push your luck with this diamond and rupee gathering gamble! But wait, death is, in our case, right around the corner constantly lol. Friend of the show Humberto joins Decoy and me this week for one that is pretty special. Come on down :) The list so far:
| |||
| 21. Hnefatafl (400) | 03 Apr 2023 | 01:32:45 | |
Gazoontite! Don't adjust your screens. This is indeed the title of this game...if you're not intrigued by now then I don't even know what to say here to intrigue you. Oh....it was once lost to time, and has been resurrected. You'll want to hear about this one as we approach the end of our Season 1! The list so far:
| |||
| 20. Wingspan (2019) | 27 Mar 2023 | 01:58:33 | |
This week is 2019s instant classic, Wingspan! I've played a ton of this game since the start of the pandemic, and each time I play it, I learn new birds, try a different strategy, and always ending up learning something about birds along the way. I truly believe there is something about this game that feels like it's for everyone. Wingspan Stan and the Bonemaster guest star! Sadly, Wingspan Stan had irl plans and missed the final ranking, but I think he would approve of its placement. The list thus far: 1. Dominion 2. Catan 3. Chess 4. Wonderland’s War 5. Risk 6. Mancala 7. Dominoes 8. Parcheesi 9. Stratego 10. Checkers 11. Scrabble 12. Backgammon 13. Guess Who? 14. Kerplunk! 15. Battleship 16. Monopoly 17. Trivial Pursuit 18. Chinese Checkers 19. Mouse Trap
| 19. Dominoes (1500) | 20 Mar 2023 | 01:33:59 | |
Line em up and knock em down folks. This week is the classic game, from the family of games that provides a staggering player count variability. It's size is versatile, it's ubiquity is present, and none other than the Bonemaster is here to rekindle it. This game has something you may have overlooked. The list thus far: 1. Dominion 2. Catan 3. Chess 4. Wonderland’s War 5. Risk 6. Mancala 7. Parcheesi 8. Stratego 9. Checkers 10. Scrabble 11. Backgammon 12. Guess Who? 13. Kerplunk! 14. Battleship 15. Monopoly 16. Trivial Pursuit 17. Chinese Checkers 18. Mouse Trap
| 18. Wonderland's War (2022) | 13 Mar 2023 | 01:46:04 | |
Our newest episode features our newest game on the show so far, and this one has two things going for it...theme, and hindsight from the games that came before. But, is it enough to climb? Our current list so far:
| |||
| 48. A Feast for Odin (2016) | 29 Mar 2025 | 01:58:23 | |
We're back! This season is all killer no filler, and first up is a stone cold classic that makes even Decoy excited to play it! Welcome back to Gettin Gamey!
| 17. Stratego (1946) | 06 Mar 2023 | 01:49:47 | |
It's strategy go time! Special Guest John (aka Bott_Bott), who is the creator of Brine and Bunker on Youtube joins Decoy and me for another blast to the past. This one also has an interesting little online client, Stratego.io, which Decoy and John used at the beginning of our taping to get into the right headspace. It's quite the doozy! For those who may be curious, John did have to leave right before our final ranking, which is why he dissipates into the night at the end, but he was with us in spirit, and helped us get Stratego into a nice spot on the board! Our current list so far:
| |||
| 16. Backgammon (1635) | 27 Feb 2023 | 01:29:18 | |
Decoy and I felt opposite on this one...sort of. Its an almost perfect information game, and it's almost good? It may very well depend on a lot of things...where you're from, and if your parents had a briefcase when you were young! Come see. The list:
| |||
| 15. Mancala (700) | 20 Feb 2023 | 01:38:43 | |
All the worlds a stage, and we, merely players, of this the world's game. We've got a top 15 after this week! You may not have played this one recently, or even this version, as there are tons and tons of variants. But if you have, theres a chance you haven't looked at it in a while. And spoiler alert....maybe you should! Here's the list so far:
| |||
| 14. Dominion (2008) | 13 Feb 2023 | 02:18:07 | |
Welcome to our first game in a new genre. Deck-builders haven't exploded like some other game genres from the 90s up to today, however, this game's initialization of the genre was such that not many can compete with it. Special Guest JC joins us again this week. If there's been a game on our show we would recommend and we had to pick one, it would be this one.
| 13. Mouse Trap (1963) | 06 Feb 2023 | 01:22:52 | |
We may never have played a game designed for kids so young with such a light theme that is actually dark...like, dark dark. Dang. This game. Get in here. Special Guest Bott Bott, who just released his new Youtube channel, Brine and Bunker.
| 12. Parcheesi (400) | 30 Jan 2023 | 01:44:31 | |
It's our oldest game to date, and one that's near and dear to my heart, and the heart of Engamer1331, who runs a youtube channel, and is an architect and designer! Co-host Decoy and I have a great time this week with our newest guest, and dear friend. And we talk an oldie...AND A GOODIE. Come hang with the oldest game you probably didn't remember or know about that's actually worth your time! Special Guest Endamer1331. Check him out on Youtube, and at Red Tail Games!
| 11. Scrabble (1948) | 23 Jan 2023 | 01:27:34 | |
We're back this week with a game that was difficult for me to figure out. Nostalgia? Check. Fun to play...hmm. We've got a new guest joining us this week! His audio was a bit troublesome at a few parts, but our content remains fire!
| 10. Battleship (1931) | 16 Jan 2023 | 01:24:17 | |
You sunk my battleship! Oh no wait, actually that was a miss. And this game...it was a hit! Or a miss. It's got a lot of legacy and nostalgia for a lot of people, and potentially a mode you didn't even know existed. And spoiler alert...its the only way to play.
| 9. Chess (1475) | 09 Jan 2023 | 01:48:51 | |
The drama! The Intrigue! The Puzzle! It's the finale of our three-part series on perfect information games (for now). And we have a very special guest from Woodland War Machine joining us this week! The ever-famous Waterman121 is here! Ever want to hear a master of his craft discuss that craft? You've come to the right place.
| 8. Chinese Checkers (1892) | 02 Jan 2023 | 01:24:37 | |
We're back with part 2 of our 3 part series on perfect information games, this time with what I would call a classic, but you may never have played, or even heard of! It's Star Checkers, which many will know as Chinese Checkers. This game is our first "cooperative game" as well in some ways, or at least, the earliest we've covered thus far! Come hang :)
| GGPS: Season 3 Draft | 29 Mar 2025 | 01:16:21 | |
Welcome back to the Gettin Gamey Panel Series! This time Decoy and I discuss and draft our games for Season 3, which when it's all said and done will put us at 60 games! We'll start releasing Season 3 in the fall as usual, so thanks for listening, and stay tuned :D
| 7. Checkers (1150) | 26 Dec 2022 | 01:03:08 | |
We're kicking off a bit of a "series" of perfect information games this week with Checkers! It's our first proper perfect information game, and also the oldest game we've covered thus far! Weirdly enough, BGG puts this game's birthdate at 1150 despite its existence many years before that. But it's not the only thing we've disagreed with them about on this show, and it won't be the last. I wonder if this game's simplicity, ubiquity, and legacy will allow it to climb high, or if it is simply too old to stand up to today's board game climate?
| 6. Guess Who? (1979) | 19 Dec 2022 | 01:07:40 | |
We're back with another stone cold classic? Or at least one that you've probably played. And this one's legacy is pretty epic (insert founding emoji here). You'll never guess who I picked when we played this game on air! Even if I burned all my capital for an L, I still had fun!
| 5. Trivial Pursuit (1981) | 12 Dec 2022 | 01:06:22 | |
The title of this game speaks for itself in a lot of ways. The actual board game-yness and mechanics leave much to be desired...but where else can you go to learn how many stomachs an earthworm has? Well...the internet it turns out. But isn't it more fun to make a pie you can't eat, then to just look it up and move on? Well...maybe
| 4. Risk (1957) | 05 Dec 2022 | 01:13:44 | |
This game is my Catan, which as you heard last week is a pretty impactful title for the board game industry. First in its class in strategy war gaming and only three years after "Tactics," which many cite as the first war board game, Risk arguably defined the genre, and may well be the most re-skinned and ubiquitous war game of the 21st century. But is it good though?
