| #072 - Ankush Jain - Raising the consciousness of the planet | 15 May 2024 | 00:42:55 | |
Hi. I'm Jamie Smart. Welcome to the podcast. In this episode, you're going to hear a conversation I had with my good friend and colleague, Ankush Jain. Ankush is a life and business coach, he's a consultant, a proud father, a published author, a podcast host and a public speaker. As you'll hear, he's on a mission to raise the consciousness of the planet through changing the coaching industry. And one of the vehicles he's using for this is his Coaching Career School which he launched in 2022, helping coaches grow impactful, ethical and sustainable practices. Just before we get to that, I wanted to mention that the doors are now open for the September 2024 intake of our flagship Clarity Certification Training programme. Clarity Certification is accredited by the International Coaching Federation (the ICF) as a provider of Continuous Coach Education, so if you're already an ICF-certified coach, you can use the programme to earn CCE units. Either way, you can take part in CCT with full confidence that the programme is fully accredited by the ICF as a Continuous Coaching Education provider. And there's a special earlybird price if you book your place by the end of May. Just go to www.JamieSmart.com/coach So now to the episode.
| #071 - COACHING DEMO: Limiting Beliefs, Weight Loss & Vibrant Health | 30 Apr 2024 | 00:31:49 | |
Hi. I'm Jamie Smart. Welcome to the podcast. This episode is a coaching demo I did with Clarity Coach Jan Harte around weight loss and limiting beliefs. The demo itself took place during my Clarity Advanced Coach & Facilitator Programme, and only lasted 20 minutes, but it's followed by a 4-minute follow-up I did with Jan a year later (just a few weeks ago). As you'll hear, the impact of the coaching session was profoundly transformational. Just before we get to that, I wanted to mention that on Friday May 10th, I'm getting together with a group of coaches to look at the fundamentals of belief-change, so you can increase your impact-confidence, dissolve limiting beliefs & transform lives (including your own). Here's what we're going to be exploring together:

| #062 - Burning It All Down with Charlie Madison | 20 Jan 2022 | 00:47:00 | |
I'm really happy to share this episode with you, with the unusual title of 'Burning It All Down', because it's a recording from the ClarityLive! event we held earlier this month. The theme for the event was "How to make 2022 your most beautiful year yet" and it was really lovely. We had people joining us from all around the world, and there was a great sense of community, with lots of profound realisations. And one of the things we did was I had 'fireside chat' conversations with Certified Clarity Coaches who've been having a big impact in the world, and I picked their brains about what it means to live a beautiful life, and how this understanding has helped them do exactly that. And my idea for this was that we would be talking shop; the kind of conversation that I have with my colleagues over a coffee, and that most people never get to hear. So in this podcast, you're going to be hearing one of those, a conversation I had with business owner & entrepreneur Charlie Madison.
Just before we get to that, I wanted to mention that the doors are now open for the final intake of our flagship Clarity Certification Training programme. I say 'final' because as you may have heard, I've decided to stop all business activities except for delivering programmes that I already have on the calendar. And I'm doing this so I have the time to write the second edition of my book CLARITY and to create the space for what's going to come next. You know, when I first came to the principles, it was relatively unknown, and very few people knew how to share this understanding with others. And it was clear to me that we needed a cadre of highly-skilled coaches, trainers and change-workers who could share this understanding and have a big impact with their clients.
Ten years on, and we've trained over 300 Clarity Coaches and I couldn't be more delighted. We have that cadre of highly-skilled people with a deep understanding in place. Now it's time to get these principles out into the world in a bigger way, and I need the space to do that, so…
This is the last time I'm going to be delivering Clarity Certification Training. 26 of the 36 places are now taken, so there are 10 places left as I speak. And I'm really looking for leaders who want to take this understanding out into the world at a time when there's never been a greater need for it. And for the first time ever, I've added a massive bonus package worth over £13,000, including the chance to sit in on a 3-day coaching intensive with a corporate client, later this year.
And we have an EarlyBird price so you can save up to £1,500 when you book your place by Monday, January 24th. Just go to www.JamieSmart.com/coach to learn more.
And Clarity Certification Training is the programme Charlie did a couple of years ago when he was earlier in his journey. So now to the episode.

I've called this episode, "The Power of Precision", and I'm excited to share this episode with you because it's a recording from the ClarityLive! event we held, just last weekend. | #059 - The 3 Principles at work: Louise O'Dalaigh | 04 Jan 2022 | 01:06:12
I'm Jamie Smart - welcome to the podcast. In this episode you're going to be hearing something I'm very happy to share with you. It's the recording of a conversation I had with Clarity Coach Louise O'Dalaigh at the last ClarityLive event a few months ago. Louise is trained as a nurse and has spent the last 30 years working in the healthcare field. Her current role is as a Quality Improvement Lead for an NHS organisation with over 10,000 staff. So it was a real treat to be able to have one of my 'fireside chat' conversations with her and find out the kind of difference the principles understanding is making in her life and in her organisation. Just before we get to that, a bit of housekeeping. I'm working on the second edition of my book, CLARITY, and I had a realisation. I realised that just as the release of CLARITY planted a seed that grew into everything I've been doing for the past 10 years, I now want to create the space for the seeds I'll be planting with the second edition. So I've made a decision. Between now and July 2022, I'm stopping all business activities except the delivery of the programmes that are already in the calendar for 2022. I have the strong sense that there's something new getting ready to emerge, and I want to create room for it. This means that the Clarity Certification Training I do starting at the end of this month - January 2022 may be the last one I ever do (or at least the last one I do in its current form). It seems to me that the world has never had a greater need for this understanding, and that conditions have never been better to share it as widely as possible. In fact, the technologies that are playing a part in creating this crisis may also have the capacity to play a part in its solution. I don't know what part I'm going to play in all of this. What I do know is that I'm interested in exploring emerging technologies and new models to align communities as we take this understanding out into the world in a brand new form. To the people who have been through (or are preparing to go through) Clarity Certification Training, you're not just early adopters; you're trailblazers, and I'm grateful to be on the journey with you. In Syd Banks' final talk, "The Ultimate Answer", he says that when this gets out into the world, "literally, it will help millions of people." The more I've learned from Syd's work, the more I've learned to take him literally. And I think it might just be time. So, there are 11 places left on the Clarity Certification Training programme, and I've decided to really push the boat out, and added some extra bonuses including the chance to sit in on a live 1:1 coaching intensive. If you want to find out more, just go to www.JamieSmart.com/coach that's www.JamieSmart.com/coach So now to the episode.
| #058 - Freedom, Authoritarianism & True Identity - A conversation with Garret Kramer | 17 Nov 2021 | 01:27:36 | |
I'm Jamie Smart. Welcome to the podcast.
The recording you're about to hear is a conversation with my dear friend and colleague Garret Kramer on the state of the world today.
It often seems to me like we're living in the pages of a Marvel comic, and a lot has changed since Garret & I last spoke together in public, so it seemed like a good time to catch up.
We had a great conversation, and we covered topics as wide-ranging as the 3 principles, authoritarianism, true identity, various mandates and much more.
Just before we get to that, I wanted to mention that the doors are now open for the January 2022 intake of our flagship Clarity Certification Training programme.

| #057 - Certainty about the impact you can have | 12 Oct 2021 | 00:51:03 | |
I'm Jamie Smart - welcome to the podcast. And in this episode you're going to be hearing something I'm really pleased to share with you. It's a conversation I had with transformative coach David Bird, and here's one of the things I think you're going to find particularly interesting. The thing that motivated Birdey to explore the principles was this: he was already working as a hypnotherapist and coach, and he started attracting clients who he didn't actually know whether or not he could help. He wanted to find a way to have more certainty about the impact he could have with his clients. At or recent ClarityLive event, we had people joining us from all over the world, and there was an incredible sense of community, with lots of profound insights. And the theme was 'Making your living from the inside out', so I wanted to spotlight people who are taking this understanding into the world in a variety of ways. I had 'fireside chat' conversations with four Clarity Coaches who have been having a big impact in the world. And my idea for this was that we would be talking shop; the kind of conversation that I have with my colleagues over coffee, and that most people never get to hear. So in this podcast, you're going to be hearing my conversation with, David Bird. Just before we get to that, I wanted to mention that the doors are now open for the January 2022 intake of our flagship Clarity Certification Training programme. I'm Jamie Smart - welcome to the podcast. And in this episode you're going to be hearing something I'm very excited to share with you. It's a conversation I had with the director of a community interest company, a CIC, who's been putting the whole domain of wellbeing on the map in her local community. And here's why I'm so excited about it... Last weekend, we had our ClarityLive event, and it really wonderful. We had people joining us from all over the world, and there was an incredible sense of community, with lots of profound insights. | #055 - Capitalism, Climate Change & Spiritual Bypassing | 05 Jul 2021 | 01:03:56
I'm Jamie Smart. Welcome to the podcast. Last week, I spent an hour with my dear friend and colleague, Kimberley Hare, for a wide-ranging conversation on topics including capitalism, climate change, prepping, financial collapse, nuclear weapons, synthetic biology and spiritual bypassing (among other things). Here's the backstory - Kim and I met up in London two years ago, and she filled me in on what she was seeing about the state of the world re: climate change and related topics. Last week, she invited me on her podcast to explore a number of topics including: - How I'm making sense of the way we seem to be headed as a world and society - How can our understanding of the Principles help in allowing us to face into these from a place of courage, wellbeing and clarity? - How I reconcile my work as a coach and educator with the fact that clients are often hiring me to get better results in terms of the 'industrial capitalism narrative', & live in a better feeling for life. - If we have realised significant insights about Life, Truth and the human experience, shouldn't we be focusing on challenging what Kim calls our current 'insane extractive and ecocidal economy', rather than helping people to get better at playing the crazy game? - My take on "spiritual bypassing", and whether it's happening in the Principles community (as well as other spiritual communities)? And much more. I really enjoyed our conversation, and Kim has kindly agreed to let me share it with my audience, so here's the episode…
| #054 - DEMO: Weight-loss and the language of connection | 24 Nov 2020 | 00:31:04 | |
This episode features a coaching demo around weight-loss and fitness during lockdown that I did during a recent masterclass, "The Language of Insight & Transformational Change". I start by talking about the six 'languages of transformation' before diving into one of them, the language of connection.
You'll hear me coaching my client, Angela on her topic, weight-loss and staying fit and healthy while working on her online business. And as I work with her, you'll hear me demonstrating the language of connection to 'get her world' and find my way into a deeper connection with her. Angela's one of the people on my current Thriving Coaches Blueprint programme, so she's already had some breakthroughs in her coaching practice. So she decided to be particularly brave and dive into a topic that she's never discussed publicly before.
So here's the episode...
PS So a few days after we recorded this coaching demo, Angela sent me a Facebook message. Here's what she said:
My Experience Of The Coaching was that it felt easy and simple and the realisation re 'do what you love' was bloody obvious doh! But I heard and felt it deeply...as if I was listening underwater. TBC...
Other realisations I've had since are:
1) SELF CARE listen to my body, ie. listen to wisdom about my body... If I need rest, rest. If I want to go out with the dogs do that. Feeling tired isn't telling me about anything other than feeling tired.
2) it's OK to feel under par and still do stuff and be OK with that eg keep commitments then rest afterwards.
3) BREATHING: I've noticed I've started to breathe diaphragmatically, Which creates more room in your lungs and the long out-breath tightens the core!
4)overall I feel an underlying deep sense of love, peace and well being... I'm reminded of this by Louis de Bernieres...
"Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being in love, which any fool can do. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident."
I know this is usually quoted about romantic love, but to me, I'm just seeing more and more deeply that to Love Life means to love and care for mySelf as well as others.
**re Louis de Bernieres... The similarity is with being in love with the principles, or the idea of them, now the 'Whoop whoop' has settled down and what I'm left with IS love.
And a more tangible difference... After 2 days of rest at home with my lovely other-half, open fires, and food that I enjoy, I had the energy to go to my paddock where I trained/played/ran around with the pup. It was easy and fun.
The way it seems to me is it's like a balloon has been popped... And all the air inside has been released into the world. The air is now light and free to move wherever the breeze takes it. And the balloon no longer exists.
As you can imagine, that was a beautiful message to read. And if you want to increase your ability to have this sort of impact with people, it's one of the things we'll be exploring on The Language of Transformation, a six-week course I'm kicking off in December. We'll be diving into all six of the languages of transformation, all in the service of creating greater engagement, connection and impact. And it starts with the 2-day Conversational Transformation Bootcamp on 12 and 13 December, followed by six weeks of learning modules and group-coaching - we'll be focusing in on one of the six languages of transformation each week. And you can save £300 and get a bonus package worth over £1400 when you book your place before midnight on Monday, November 30th. Just go to www.JamieSmart.com/language to register now and save £300, that's www.JamieSmart.com/language.
| #053 - Being Visible and Growing Your Audience | 18 Nov 2020 | 01:01:14 | |
The episode you're about to hear is a mentoring session on visibility & growing your audience that I did with Matt Fox. Matt's one of the coaches taking part in the Clarity Advanced Coach & Facilitator Programme, and he and I met just over a year ago when he joined the Thriving Coaches Blueprint. And one of the things he developed while he was on that programme was his podcast, "The Heart of Dad".
| #070 - INTERVIEW: Coaching in the Midst of Crisis with Mahima Shrestha | 28 Mar 2023 | 00:34:28 | |
Hi. I'm Jamie Smart. Welcome to the podcast. I've called this episode, "Coaching in the Midst of Crisis", and it's a recording from the Clarity Coaching Experience event we held earlier this month. The theme for the event was "Increasing your Impact Certainty" and it was a beautiful weekend. We had coaches joining us from all around the world, and there was a lovely sense of community, with lots of profound insights. And one of the things we did was I had 'fireside chat' conversations with Clarity Coaches who are making a big difference in the world, and I picked their brains about their impact with their clients, and how this understanding has helped them increase that. And my idea for this was that we would be talking shop; the kind of conversation that I have with my colleagues over coffee, and that most people never get to hear. So in this podcast, you're going to be hearing one of those, a conversation I had with my dear friend and colleague, Mahima Shrestha. Now, you may have seen an amazing conversation I had with Mahima a few years ago when I interviewed her about her experience of the 2015 Nepal earthquake. That was right at the start of her journey as a coach, and since then, she's developed extensive experience in coaching individuals and organizations through crisis. Mahima works with entrepreneurs, innovators, activists, and changemakers- bringing bright people together to solve complex problems. And you're going to hear how her certainty about what people have going for them is fundamental to the difference she makes with clients. Just before we get to that, I wanted to mention that the doors are now open for the September 2023 intake of our flagship Clarity Certification Training programme. Clarity Certification has recently been accredited by the International Coaching Federation (the ICF) as a provider of Continuous Coach Education, so if you're already an ICF-certified coach, you can use the programme to earn CCE units. Either way, you can take part in CCT with full confidence that the programme is fully accredited by the ICF as a Continuous Coaching Education provider. And you can save over £4000 when you book your place by the end of March. Just go to www.JamieSmart.com/coach So now to the episode.
| #052 - The Dubious Art of Predicting The Future | 29 Oct 2020 | 00:21:31 | |
The episode you're about to hear is an excerpt from one of the private laser-coaching & Q&A sessions I do each month with my ClarityPro Members. Just to give you a bit of background, I'd been telling my clients about something my team and I do called 'Project Gretsky', inspired by a quote from the phenomenal hockey player, Wayne Gretsky who famously said, "Skate to where the puck is going, not where it's been." In Project Gretsky, my team and I look to the future, and make guesses about where the world's heading, how we can best guide our clients and how we can inspire and educate a generation to experience lives of clarity, resilience and wellbeing. It's how we ended up developing our state of the art live-streaming facility, as well as a number of other innovations we've got in the pipeline. So during last night's Laser-coaching / Q&A session, one of our ClarityPro members (Andrea Bruno) asked a question that stopped me in my tracks. Andrea said he was thinking about Project Gretsky, and thought it would be very cool and useful to do something like that, but he said that in the past, whenever he tried to predict the future, he got frustrated because he wanted to be right about it. If things didn't go his way he got increasingly worried, and in the end, he just stopped trying to make any predictions because it wasn't worth the anxiety factor. But something in Project Gretsky spoke to him, and he wanted to get some clarity about that. So why did this stop me in my tracks? Because I'd never given much thought to how I relate to this whole domain of prediction and future trends. What you're going to hear in this episode is this: first you'll hear Andrea's question, then you'll get my counter-intuitive answer, then finally you'll hear how it lands with Andrea. So here's the episode:
| #051 - Goat rodeos, warlord entrepreneurs & the future of money with Vinay Gupta - Get Clarity Podcast | 03 Sep 2020 | 01:57:10 | |
During a recent podcast episode, I mentioned that while climate change is one of the threats facing humanity, there are many others, including artificial intelligence, exponential technology, authoritarianism, pandemics, nuclear winter and many more. This week's episode is another in this series of 'public service announcement' conversations, this time with one of my favourite twitter-follows, Vinay Gupta. Here's the back story. Last year, I heard a podcast episode with a chap called Vinay Gupta and started following him on twitter (his handle is @leashless). He's proved to be one of my more fascinating follows, and has a unique perspective on a number of things (including the environment / climate change, the future of money, modern-day slavery, the rise of warlord entrepreneurs and more). Just to provide some bona fides, Vinay helped organise the launch of the crypto-currency Ethereum a few years back, is the designer of Dubai's national blockchain strategy and is the inventor of the hexayurts you may have used / seen if you've ever been to the Burning Man festival. Among other things, he's introduced me to the idea of 'goat rodeos' (an explanation of why certain national-level problems prove resistant to resolution, and what you can do about it). So I reached out to him and said this: "I find your perspective on the whole 'welcome to the world of the people who grow your coffee' overlap with racism / modern slavery / environment / meditation and fairness super-important. Would you be up for being interviewed on my podcast? (It's called the Get Clarity Podcast). It only has a few thousand listeners but they're mostly people who want to make a difference in the world." He said, "Yes", and what you're about to hear is the conversation that followed. | #050 - DEEPDIVE: 1:1 Coaching Intensives Q&A | 28 Aug 2020 | 00:52:48
The 1:1 intensives deep dive you're about to hear is an excerpt from a Q&A Session I did with my ClarityPro Members. I was answering questions I'd been asked by ClarityPro Members and our wider community about 1:1 Coaching Intensives, where you spend up to 3 or 4 days working closely with a client to help them have the breakthroughs that matter to them. 1:1 Coaching Intensives are a bit of a dark art, so I thought it would be nice to shed a little light on the process, and I'm sharing this recording on both my podcasts for several reasons as follows: Number 1, If you've been thinking about doing a 1:1 intensive with me, this will give you a sense of what to expect, and whether or not it's a good fit for you. That's why I'm sharing it on the Get Clarity Podcast. Number 2, If you've been considering doing 1:1 intensives with your clients, this will answer some of the questions you may have had, and help you take the next step. That's why I'm sharing it on the Thriving Coaches Podcast. And number 3, A few years ago, I did a 1:1 coaching intensive with a corporate lawyer called Andy, but I did it in front of an audience of coaches and therapists, answering their questions and unpacking what I'm doing. We recorded the whole thing, and whether you want to do an intensive with me, or you want to do one with your own clients, it's one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways of experiencing an intensive without paying 5000, 10,000 or 50,000 pounds (that's what I charge for my CEO Intensive). And we've got he 1:1 Coaching Intensive Unpacked in our summer sale at over 40% off until Monday August 31st, so if you'd like to find out more about that, head over to www.clarityacademy.co/intensive If you want to do an intensive with me, head over to www.JamieSmart.com/ceo. And finally, we've opened the doors to ClarityPro while our Summer Sale is on, so head over to www.ClarityAcademy.co to see if you want to join, and to see everything else that's in the summer sale.
| #049 - Climate Change: A principles perspective with Ami Chen - Mills | 12 Aug 2020 | 01:36:31 | |
I'm Jamie Smart - welcome to the podcast. A few months ago, I had a conversation with my good friend and colleague, Ami Chen Mills. As well as being a very experienced principles teacher (Ami was one of the first people I heard talking about this understanding), she's the co-founder of the Santa Cruz chapter of Extinction Rebellion. Earlier in the year, Ami wrote a Medium article, calling out her colleagues in the principles community for a lack of comment and action on climate change (the article was called, 'An Open Letter to My Spiritual Colleagues: On "Spirit" and the Climate Emergency'.) I read the article and invited Ami to come on my podcast (she accepted.) While I know that there is a broad range of opinion on the subject of climate change, one thing is abundantly clear to me: Humanity currently faces a number of existential threats, including climate change, global pandemics, possible nuclear winter and the dizzying rise of artificial intelligence. In recent years, the world seems more and more like a Marvel comic, replete with mustachioed villains and killer robots. One of my heroes, Buckminster Fuller once wrote, "Whether it is to be Utopia or Oblivion will be a touch-and-go relay race right up to the final moment… Humanity is in 'final exam' as to whether or not it qualifies for continuance in Universe." This has never looked more true to me. So how can we usefully orient ourselves to the challenges we face in the years ahead? And how can the principles help us make sense of things that sometimes seem insensible? Exploring the answers to these questions is what this episode is all about. By the way, we recorded this before the full scale of the pandemic was known. For that reason, I've delayed the release of this episode until now. So regardless of what your current perspective on the whole question of climate change is, I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this episode. | #048 - Racism, Injustice and the 3 Principles - A Conversation with Davida Arnold | 19 Jul 2020 | 00:50:17
Welcome to the podcast - I'm Jamie Smart. It's now nearly two months since the tragic killing of George Floyd sparked a wave of protests that's echoing around the globe. And it got me wondering... "As a member of the principles community, what does it make sense for you to say or do in relation to this?" And as I wondered about this, I realised something... So I reached out to my good friend and colleague, Clarity Coach Davida Arnold. Davida is a coach and educator based in Columbus Ohio. She's a mother with young children, and she's a black woman. As Davida and I talked, I realised it could be valuable for us to have a conversation to release more widely. Our discussion didn't have an agenda per se - the purpose was to have a connected conversation to see what we could discover about 'the truth of the matter'.

| #045 - Letting Your Passion Find You A Conversation with Author Anke Hermann | 02 Jul 2020 | 00:23:00 | |
In this episode, I speak with author, podcaster and coach, Anke Hermann. Anke is author of the book, "Taming the Technology Monster", but her work with clients is as much to do with their thinking and their ideas about themselves as it is with their technology projects. In this brief conversation, she reveals how her passion for the work she does today was steadily tapping her on the shoulder while she looked somewhere else for work she loved doing. This conversation speaks to the wisdom that's guiding every single one of us, once we know how to tune into it. You can find out more about Anke Herrmann here: https://www.ankeherrmann.com/

| #043 - Christine Mitchell The Power of Hope and Certainty | 17 Jun 2020 | 00:38:07 | |
In this episode of the Get Clarity podcast, you're going to be hearing one of our most popular episodes, a conversation I had with a good friend and colleague, Clarity Coach Christine Mitchell. Christine works with people who arrive with a variety of challenges and objectives, particularly around anxiety, stress and OCD. And one of the interesting things about Christine is she's working more and more with nurses and first-responders. And here's one of the reasons I'm really excited to be sharing this conversation with you. As you may already know, at our company, we're passionate about what we call subtractive psychology: the only thing you can learn that takes things off your mind automatically and uncovers your true potential. It works on the basis that human psychology functions perfectly; that every person is born with innate resilience, clarity, natural motivation, the capacity to enjoy life, and navigate its ups and downs with ease. So what does that actually mean, in rough going? What it means is that there's something very simple a person can discover for themselves that makes the difference between stress and freedom, between a lifetime of mental health challenges, and complete recovery. And in this interview, you're going to hear about an extraordinary example of how that happened for Christine and her family. As you may know, we believe the most valuable things a person can discover is how your mind works and who you really are, because this realisation sets you free. And once you know the truth about this, your very *presence* can set others free. Christine saw the truth of this so clearly that those around her saw it too. Two of her closest family members recovered spontaneously from lifelong depression and OCD after a single conversation. Just before we get to that, I wanted to mention that the doors are now open for the January 2021 intake of our flagship Clarity Certification Training programme. And you can save up to £3000 when you book your place by June 26th 2020. Just go to www.JamieSmart.com/coach that's www.JamieSmart.com/coach So now to the episode. You're about to hear Christine share in her own words what she realised, how she shared it with her loved ones, and the dramatic difference it made to them. She also talks about the differences it's making with her other clients. Christine didn't have years of training or the so-called "right way" of talking about it, she had two things: certainty and the willingness to share what she'd seen so far, that: – Clarity, resilience & wellbeing are pre-existing capacities rather than things to be achieved – People aren't broken and they don't need fixing And this episode was first aired back in 2017, but I'm re-publishing it because I want it to be heard by so many people who missed it the first time around. So sit back, relax and prepare to discover just what a difference it's possible to make when you're sharing what you've seen for yourself. Here's the episode… If you'd like to contact Christine to find out more about her coaching services, you can reach her on her Facebook page here To view the original video that this podcast was taken from on Youtube click here
| #069 - INTERVIEW: Dr. Bill Pettit - One Cause & One Cure - Part 2 | 17 Mar 2023 | 01:08:33 | |
Hi. I'm Jamie Smart. Welcome to the podcast. The interview you're going to hear today is part two of the 3-part series of interviews I conducted with my dear friend and colleague, Dr Bill Pettit. Bill is a board-certified psychiatrist and has been working with patients & clients using the principles understanding for over 40 years. Dr Pettit has treated tens of thousands of patients, with diagnoses as diverse as schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, stress, panic attacks and many more conditions. In part two of this series, you'll hear Dr Pettit and I answering the first set of questions posed by members of our community. | #042 - How do you get the principles 'out there' in your community? | 12 Jun 2020 | 00:41:39
Today, I'm going to introduce you to one of my favourite people. She's a master of having a flash of inspiration and then running with it. She's got a deep understanding of the principles behind clarity, and at the start of this year, she found herself wondering... "What would it be like to live in in a town where we had the time and energy to connect with friends, and family and the wider community?" Clarity Coach Liz Scott asked herself this question in January and started a 3-month experiment exploring wellbeing in her local town of Ivybridge. So how did it go? Put it this way. The experiment has been extended for another 6 months! In fact, Liz is now running online 'Wellbeing Listener' programmes supporting those in the community who want to be better listeners for friends, family and work colleagues. And here's the cool thing... Few of the participants have ever even heard of the Inside-Out understanding. But based on their experience so far, they're very curious to find out more. Lots of people have already joined in with the Wellbeing Listener webinar including people from charities, volunteers, listening services, the community connector, business-owners, parents, change-workers and educators. So I've asked Liz to join us here in to share - her inspiration for the project - how she got it off the ground - and her ideas about where it may go next And here's the thing: because these principles are playing out for *everyone*, this conversation will be a great opportunity to have insights and realisations for yourself into the principles, and how you can share them with others.
| #041 - DEMO: Post-Lockdown: Getting unstuck & back in the game after a business collapse | 04 Jun 2020 | 00:30:33 | |
Welcome to the podcast. And in this episode you're going to hear a coaching demo I did with a client who was completely stuck following a series of catastrophes. First, she was hit with the deaths of both her parents within the space of a couple of years. Then her husband became seriously ill. She told me that during this period, her work as a coach kept her going. But then, the UK coronavirus lockdown kicked in, and her business collapsed overnight. She said it was like a domino effect of 'big things' happening that's left her feeling stuck and with no confidence. She said she felt like she had lead in her boots and was unable to move. When I asked her what she wanted to have happen as a result of our session, she said... "I want to become unstuck. I want to go back to being me." Just before I introduce that session, I wanted to let you know that the 2021 Intake of our flagship programme, the Clarity Certification Training is now open for enrolment and you can save up to £3,000 when you register by Friday 26th June. A few things worth knowing… 1. Clarity Certification Training is our flagship seven month programme for anyone interested in bringing an understanding of the principles behind clarity into their life or work. 2. I'm going to be delivering all 7 modules on the Clarity Certification Training myself, so you're going to be working closely with me. 3. We're limiting the number of places on the programme to 36 people, and.... 4. You can save up to £3,000 when you book your place by Friday, 26th June, 2020. >>> You can find out more and book your place at www.JamieSmart.com/coach So now to the coaching demo. I did this session in front of an audience of clients on my 12-week Coaching Immersion programme. The client's name is Cecilia, and as you'll hear, I move between coaching Cecilia and speaking to the audience. The main coaching session is in the first 26 minutes of the podcast. Then in the last minute or two of the podcast, you'll hear me circle back and check in with Cecilia - this was actually an hour later (I was coaching some other members of the group in the meantime). So here's the coaching demo.
| #040 - INTERVIEW: A conversation with Billy Mann | 19 May 2020 | 00:50:06 | |
In this episode, you're going to hear me being interviewed by Billy Mann. In fact, it's a conversation as much as it is an interview. Billy is a coach, and entrepreneur and an absolutely lovely human being. And one of the things that's interesting about Billy is that he's been deeply impacted by the single paradigm as articulated by Keith Blevens and Valda Monroe, so that's one of the areas we explore in this episode.
| #039 - What are the 3 principles | 11 May 2020 | 00:11:00 | |
The 9 minute clip you're about to listen to is an excerpt from an interview where I was asked the question, "What are the 3 principles." As you'll hear, my response started in somewhere that's probably pretty familiar to most people and ended up somewhere much deeper.
| #038 - KEYNOTE : The Search is Over (except when it isn't) | 05 May 2020 | 01:28:03 | |
I'm Jamie Smart, and welcome to the podcast. We're many weeks into lockdown as i record this, so I hope this finds you and yours safe and well. One of the things I've been doing is having a look at ways to introduce people to my work, and so I was looking through our most popular podcast episodes. I've got some great new episodes lined up for you, but this week I'm going to share one of our most popular episodes of all time. The recording you're about to hear is a keynote speech I did at the opening of the first "Unlimited Conference" in Helsinki, Finland back in 2016. It starts with an introduction from the conference organiser, Niko Leppanen. I first met Niko at a workshop in Oslo, Norway, and he went on to train with me as a Clarity Coach, so we've been on this journey together for quite a while. Now, almost everyone who's been touched by the 3 principles gets hit by the same three big questions, 1) Why doesn't everyone know this? 2) What can I do to help get this 'out there'? 3) Why does it sometimes seem difficult to share this understanding with other people? The Unlimited Conference was Niko's inspired answer to the "How can I help get this out there?" question, so I felt very honoured to be one of the speakers. And the name of my keynote talk was, "The Search is Over (except when it isn't)". So here's the episode...
| #037 - Are love, peace and resilience really innate? Where's the evidence? | 06 Apr 2020 | 00:11:37 | |
This episode is a 10-minute clip taken from the first module of this year's Clarity Certification Training. I'd been exploring the notion of 'true identity' with the members of the group, when I was asked this question: "True identity is consciousness itself; I'm very happy with that. The question is, when we move beyond that, into defining that consciousness as having characteristics (such as stillness, love, resilience, truth, calm), where's the evidence of that?" Basically, where's the evidence that these qualities are innate? My answer both surprised and resonated with people. Here's the episode.
| #036 - MASTERCLASS Finding your bearings in turbulent times | 30 Mar 2020 | 01:00:41 | |
I'm Jamie Smart - welcome to the podcast. You don't need me to tell you that, as I record this, we're living through a time of extreme volatility and uncertainty. One aspect of that is the coronavirus and its health impacts. Another aspect is the societal and economic impacts of our response to the pandemic. But the third, and for many people the most troubling aspect is the psychological and emotional distress that people are dealing with in relation to all this. This week's podcast is a recording of an online masterclass I did recently called "Finding your bearings in turbulent times." As you listen, we're going to be exploring the things that can help you to… - Navigate these rapidly changing circumstances. You'll also hear me do live Q&A as I deal with the various questions and concerns people (quite naturally) have as they're navigating these strange times. So here's the Masterclass...
| #035 - GCP Interview: The Coaching Show | 27 Feb 2020 | 00:29:53 | |
This episode is a re-release of an interview from last summer, but as you'll hear, it's a conversation with a difference, because rather than me interviewing someone, it's me *being* interviewed for The Coaching Show, by ICF Master Coach Christopher McAuliffe and his colleague Alex Terranova. And this was an interesting one. As you'll hear, it was pretty fast-paced, and I really enjoyed the challenge of making the value and approach involved in principles based coaching explicit to a couple of experienced coaches who were brand new to the subject. We talked about 3-day intensives, and what has to happen before a busy executive is willing to take 3 days out of a packed schedule to do an intensive with you. We also talked a lot about the whole domain of growing a coaching practice. Speaking of which, back when we released the episode, I announced that I was running my last ever 90-day Coaching Immersion. One of my business mentors had said that 90 days (12 weeks) was too much - that we should limit the programme to 60 days max, or even just do it as a digital course. So I decided to do one last 90-day programme, and run all three tracks as a single group. We had coaches who wanted to get clients, enroll them on coaching packages and make a difference doing the Thriving Coaches Blueprint track… www.JamieSmart.com/thriving We had people who wanted to change careers to do something more fulfilling and on-purpose doing the Career Transition Blueprint track… www.JamieSmart.com/escape We had people who just wanted to see the principles behind clarity more deeply in the most important aspects of their lives doing the Clarity for Personal Transformation track… www.ClarityAcademy.co/transform12 But they were all doing it in one group, meeting up with me each week for 1:1 coaching in a group context… It was an experiment. It was the first time I'd ever combined all three tracks. I didn't know exactly what was going to happen. But you know that feeling, when you try something out and it turns out even *better* than you expected? Yeah, that feeling. As we were going through the programme, one of the students asked me why this intake of the 12-week programme was the last one. He said (and I'm paraphrasing), "It's a great format - why are you stopping it?" I explained that we were planning to release these 3 tracks as digital programmes, and experiment with a shorter, 6-8 week format, but it suddenly occurred to me that I should check with the folks on the programme. So I asked them, "How has 12 weeks been for you, in terms of your levels of engagement / amount of progress / amount of time you could devote to it / how much you've learned / how far you've come etc?" Basically, for what we've been doing, was 12 weeks too long, too short, or just right? The vast majority of the people on the programme replied, "Just right." And here's the thing. That's how I felt too. I enjoyed the hell out of it! So I've decided to do a 180. We're doing the 12-week Coaching Immersion again. I'm going to be doing all 3 tracks, and we've got some great coaches and aspiring coaches already signed up and ready to start with the Thriving Coaches Blueprint track. We're starting soon - the doors close on 11th march. This is a chance to work closely with me in a small group setting, so if you've been thinking about making some changes, now's a good time! | #034 - Addiction, Compulsion and Habits (and the solution to all of them) with Dr Mark Howard | 19 Dec 2019 | 00:42:41
The conversation you're about to hear is one I had with my dear friend and colleague, Dr Mark Howard just before we recorded an 'Impact Kit' for my ClarityPro members. Mark is a licensed psychologist who's spent *decades* sharing the principles with people to help them recover from addictions. As such, he's probably the most experienced person on the planet when it comes to sharing the principles to help people break free from life-damaging habits and compulsions. Mark and I first met ten years ago in Santa Cruz, when I sat in on a group session he was doing and I was blown away. Behind his gentle demeanour, I could sense a rock solid certainty about what people have going for them. Mark and I became great friends and he's one of the people I continue to learn from and be impacted by, so I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did. By the way, if you're a ClarityPro member, you'll find the Impact Kit I mentioned in the Addiction, Habits & Compulsions module. You'll hear Mark and I discussing how we work with clients around addictions, and some of the key distinctions and insights that inform that work. And if you're not a ClarityPro member, but you want to learn how to share the principles with anybody, on any topic and in any situation, you can find out more about our community and what's on offer at www.JamieSmart.com/claritypro. On Friday January 3rd at midnight, we're closing the doors to new members. So after Friday January 3rd, we won't be accepting any new members until we open the doors briefly at the end of April. So if you've been thinking of joining ClarityPro, now's a good time. In addition to that, we've got the next ClarityLive event coming up on January 11th & 12th, and the theme for this ClarityLive event is the whole domain of goals, results and taking things to a new level, so we thought we'd go with a new year / breakthrough theme. And I'm mentioning that because when you join ClarityPro before January 3rd, you get a free ticket to a ClarityLive event, so you can use it for the January event, or for one later in the year. So you can find out more about ClarityPro and what's on offer at www.JamieSmart.com/claritypro And finally, I want to thank you for listening, and wish you a happy, peaceful and relaxing time during the holiday season.
| #033 - DEMO: Narcissistic Abuse (Coaching VS therapy) | 09 Dec 2019 | 00:45:05 | |
In this episode you're going to hear a coaching demo I did in front of an audience with a client suffering from what she described as narcissistic abuse. She sometimes felt overwhelming fear of rejection, and wanted to start living with more peace and freedom. The client had trained extensively as a therapist, and was convinced her present-day problems were rooted in her past. And she'd tried lots of things... Telling herself she knew it was just a story (she didn't). Trying to tell herself a better story (she couldn't). Working at accepting the overwhelming feelings (they seemed unacceptable). But what if there's so much *less* than that to do? You may have heard me say that the two most valuable things a person can discover are how experience is created and who they really are. My client thought her overwhelming feelings were telling her about her past (they weren't). My client thought there was something wrong with her (there wasn't. And there isn't.) As the session proceeded, she started waking up to the truth of who she really is. And everything shifted. A few days later, she wrote that everything had changed since our session. She said she feels so much more relaxed in the areas where she'd been struggling. She said that the feeling of lack she'd been experiencing had somehow disappeared. And she hadn't been working at it. It just happened. That's the power of insight and realisation. As you'll hear, I move between coaching the client and speaking to the audience. The main coaching session is in the first 20 minutes of the podcast, then I speak to the audience for a while then come back to the coaching client for the last few minutes to check in with her. So I hope you enjoy the session. By the way, if you're a ClarityPro member, you'll be receiving a fully unpacked version of this coaching session where I take you behind the scenes and explain what I'm responding to, what's guiding the questions I'm asking and how I'm making sense of what the client is telling me. So if you're a ClarityPro Member, you'll find that in the impact kit for the module called 'Coaching, Therapy & Changework from the Inside-out'. And if you're not a ClarityPro member, but you want to learn how to share the principles with anybody, on any topic and in any situation, you can find out more about our community and what's on offer at www.JamieSmart.com/claritypro And if you want to learn how to bring an understanding of these principles into every aspect of your work and life, you can join me on the January 2020 intake of the Clarity Certification Training, you can get one of the last 11 places and save up to £2,000 off the full price when you book your place by Friday, 10th January. | #068 - INTERVIEW: Dr. Bill Pettit - One Cause & One Cure | 23 Feb 2023 | 01:52:35
I'm Jamie Smart. Welcome to the podcast. The interview you're going to hear today is part one of a 3-part series of interviews I conducted with my dear friend and colleague, Dr Bill Pettit. In part one of this series, you'll hear Dr Pettit and I exploring his assertion that there's something you can learn and understand that is both the prevention and the cure to ALL mental illness and most physical illness. | #032 - KEYNOTE - NLP & Hypnosis meet the principles | 27 Nov 2019 | 01:37:29
What you're about to hear is the recording of a talk I did in September at the Richmond NLP group called 'The Principles Behind Transformational Change'. I was booked to speak at the Richmond NLP group, and lots of people were curious about how the principles behind clarity would go down with an audience steeped in NLP & Hypnosis, so I promised to record the talk for this podcast. My idea for the talk came from a simple question that's at the heart of our field: "What does it take to create the kind of life-altering transformations that make a profound, meaningful and lasting difference in a person's life?" Well, I realised while I was driving to this session that the very *first* public talk I'd ever given was to the Richmond NLP group 20 years ago. It was pretty mind-blowing to reflect on how much things have changed in that time. If you enjoy listening to the recording even half as much as I enjoyed giving the talk, you're in for a treat. So here it is…
| #031 - The future of psychology? | 11 Nov 2019 | 01:14:34 | |
Do the principles represent the the future of psychology? I'm Jamie Smart, and what you're about to hear is me being interviewed by the author Amir Karkouti, the creator of the What The F*#$ Are The Principles? group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/299806010361726/ In this conversation I make the case for why the principles behind clarity (as realised & articulated by Syd Banks) represent the future of psychology. We cover quite a lot of ground in this session including: - What distinguishes the principles from every other psychological and spiritual model - My take on what Syd Banks meant when he said "Thought is the missing link" - Why I believe the two most valuable things you can discover are how experience is created and who you really are The session also includes a Q&A session where I was asked some really great questions, including... - How can you be so certain these principles represent the future of psychology? - Why teach this rather than (for instance) "pure non-duality" or some other spiritual or psychological model? - How to free yourself from the need to convince anyone (and the challenges inherent in that) So with that, here's my conversation with Amir…
| #030 - Dr Rita Shuford: Happiness, wellbeing and 40 years of sharing the principles | 02 Nov 2019 | 01:01:16 | |
In this episode, you're going to hear a conversation I had on the subject of happiness and wellbeing with one of my dear friends and colleagues, Rita Shuford. And here's how I met Rita... In 2011, I kicked off a one-year programme called '3 Principles University'. We had a wonderful group of students, and every month or so, we had a different principles teacher spend the weekend with us, sharing their understanding. My good friend and colleague, Sandy Krot was scheduled to do the November weekend (on Leadership), and when she arrived, she had a friend with her: Rita Shuford. Rita was the person who'd introduced Sandy to the principles, so I was super-curious to hear her story. I recorded an interview with her that weekend, and we've been friends ever since. Rita's one of the people who's mentored me over the years, and she's also mentored some of my students on Clarity programmes. Last week, I was recording a session with Rita for ClarityPro (on working with clients around happiness and wellbeing) and she agreed to record an interview for the podcast. Rita's been sharing the principles with clients for over 40 years, and she has a wealth of knowledge, experience and insight, so I'm really delighted to be able to share our conversation with you. By the way, if you want to get access to the members-only session I did with Rita on working with clients around happiness & wellbeing, you get access to that and all the other members-only content when you join the ClarityPro Membership programme. If you want to share the principles like a pro with anybody, on any topic on any situation, head over to jamiesmart.com/claritypro to find out more.
