Shattering Stereotypes with 'Meatball' Molly McCann

Flyweight UFC fighter, ‘Meatball’ Molly, shares her journey. From bouncing back from adversity, when injury ended her professional football career, to becoming a role model for other women in MMA. 
As well as talking about how sports science has aided her performance and mental health, Molly explains what training looks like for her as she approaches her next fight. Molly also touches on her personal journey of coming out as gay and writing a book to help children understand their sexuality.

Recovering From Injury ft. Jack Willis

Professor of Molecular Exercise Physiology, Keith Baar, has worked with hundreds of elite athletes as a scientific advisor. Keith shares his expert insight into what is happening in the body during injury, with tips and advice on how to avoid it and recover effectively.

Protein, Precision and Performance ft Carl Frampton

Boxing world champion, Carl Frampton, and protein expert, Professor Stuart Phillips, join Charlie and James to discuss the importance of perfecting Protein intake for peak performance.  

First up we hear Carl Frampton openly discuss how he uses protein to help him make weight, his preparations for the upcoming world title fight and also what we can learn from the mentality of a fighter.

Then you’ll meet protein expert, Professor Stuart Phillips. He heads up the Protein Metabolism Research Lab at the McMaster University School of Medicine. Professor Phillips dispels common misinformation around protein and shares insights that we should all be implementing into our lives, especially as we age.

Managing Weight and Mindset ft. Geraint Thomas

In this bumper episode, Geraint Thomas, Professor Steve Peters and Dr Trent Stellingwerff chat to Charlie and James about weight management and how you can apply their expertise to achieve your goals.
First, you’ll hear from Steve Peters, the author of the self-help book ‘The Chimp Paradox’. Steve explains how to take back control of your mind and therefore body by using his mind management model, which is praised as a tool of success by high-profile athletes such as Geraint, Steven Gerrard and Victoria Pendleton.
Then Geraint Thomas explains how he fuelled for his Tour De France win in 2018 as well as discussing the physical and mental difficulties of managing weight as a competing athlete.
Lastly, renowned Sports Scientist, Dr Trent Stellingwerff shares his insights and expertise on a common yet damaging weight loss side effect known as ‘Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport’. It’s a hot topic in sport science right now that, if you take your training seriously, you need to be aware of.

He’s also been a consultant physiologist in professional rugby and football so he shares the secrets to fast-tracked recovery so that you can maintain consistency in your training and performances.
