Nine days before Rachel was to give birth to her first child, her beloved birth keeper, Candace, was tragically killed in a car accident. Grief-stricken, panicked, and suddenly faced with new decisions, Rachel chose to freebirth.

What happens when you walk away from everything and find your own path to motherhood?

In this episode, we hear from Julia, a Montana mother of two who walked away from the corporate grind, sold her home, and set out on a radically different path to motherhood, one rooted in sovereignty, sisterhood, and self-trust.

This week we have my friend Karlin on the show, sharing her journey into sovereignty. Karlin’s first experience of pregnancy ended in an abortion in the medical system, which came with it many lessons for her to digest.  When her second pregnancy ended in a first trimester early birth, she turned to her partner, the land, and the wisdom of her own body to find her way forward.  Her third pregnancy resulted in her sweet daughter being free birthed, supported by her husband and well.…yours truly, on the phone.  Karlin speaks honestly about how much resistance she had to birth itself, feeling the pain, and how much stronger she has become on the other side.

Roxane, a Radical Birth Keeper School graduate from Belgium, had her first baby via c-section after finding out she was positioned breech. Roxane suffered a horrible, life-threatening complication from the surgery 6 days postpartum, and decided shortly after there was no way she would go back to birth in the hospital ever again. Roxane stayed steadfast to her vision and birthed her second daughter in her own home, away from the harms of the hospital.

To kick off 2023, I'm bringing you a mind-blowing wild pregnancy story with quite the plot twist! 

At a supposed 44 weeks gestation with no signs of labor, Rachel began to backtrack on her conception timeline and realized that she actually conceived this baby shortly after an early pregnancy loss at around 9 weeks. Since she hadn't tracked the bleeding as a miscarriage, she went on with her pregnancy, believing that she was three months further along than she actually was! Her "year long" pregnancy went on to prepare her for an intense nearly 60-hour birth at 42 weeks. 

Rachel's story is an incredible testament to the mystery of birth, the power of trust and patience, and the magic of sitting in the unknown.

I'm excited to share with you all today Janessa's beautiful freebirth story, which is truly a reclamation of so many parts of her first birth, a hospital birth. After she consistently gave her power away in her first pregnancy and birth, by the time she got pregnant again, she knew she was going to do things very differently. With her second daughter, Janessa chose a peaceful pregnancy over a pregnancy in the system, and a freebirth over a hospitalized experience. Through taking responsibility for her choices, Janessa was able to reclaim everything that had given away in her first birth- even down to smiling through a peaceful emergence.

Felicity is a formerly registered midwife with the National Health Service (NHS), the publicly funded healthcare system in England. She had wanted to be a mother ever since she was a little girl, and midwifery seemed like the most aligned career for her- until she woke up to the reality that she was assisting in the violence and sabotage of mothers and babies in birth by attending them in the hospital. In this episode, we discuss the brainwashing that took place in her schooling and trainings, the toll medical midwifery took on her spirit, and her life now as a Radical Birth Keeper School graduate, after surrendering her license, and starting a business attending births fully outside of the medical system.

Tati had been attending women as a doula for years, first in her homeland of Brazil, and then in Germany. But when she got pregnant, she could no longer stand to witness the abuse in the medical system and spent her pregnancy and birth unwinding from the traumas she had seen. She chose freebirth, held by her friends and partner. Tati's birth of her daughter was a medicine ceremony: complete with reverence, prayer, and song, all ending in the integration of a beautiful mother and woman.

Today on the show, we have a rather unique story: a solo mother who chose to freebirth entirely alone. Jenni is a first-time mom who knew freebirth was her path right from the start. After a simple and integrated wild pregnancy, Jenni birthed her daughter completely alone in her garden in just a few hours, start to finish!

What if the birth certificate was never for your baby—but a tool of control used by the state?

In this episode, I sit down with Veda Ray, a freebirthing mother of two, who chose to walk a path most women never even consider: birthing and raising her second child completely outside the system. No pregnancy test. No monitoring. No birth certificate. No social security number.

After her first birth at a birth center, Veda knew she wanted something different. This time, she listened deeply—to her body, to her baby, and to her own intuition—and what she heard was clear: this child was to be born free.

We go deep into the realities of living outside the system, including how she navigated the legal terrain to secure a passport without government-issued ID, why she believes the birth certificate is a jurisdictional trap, and the spiritual responsibility of saying no to the state’s contracts.

With her first pregnancy, Ita wholeheartedly trusted her medical midwife and OBGYN to give her the gentle, natural birth she wanted. After her OB told her she had to be induced due to her baby’s “abnormal kidney size”, she was left with a surgical birth that completely wrecked her first couple years of postpartum. Today we have Chantal telling us her stories of 3 full-term pregnancies, and 3 pregnancy losses in 5 different countries. She speaks to how she navigated foreign cultures and governmental systems as an expat, & shares her journey from a medicalized, torturous birth, to a birth-center birth, and then a wildly simple freebirth at home. We also discuss the disruption of her postpartum time by having to immediately interface with the system to obtain a birth record.

Chantal’s story is a lighthouse for the pregnant women feeling hopeless and who know there must be another way. Freebirth happens anywhere and everywhere, even in countries where most everyone believes homebirth is illegal.

What would you do if you had to give birth in the middle of a war? 

In this episode, I sit down with Natalia, a Ukrainian mother of two, to hear her incredible story of freebirthing her second child during the 2022 Russian invasion. 

After one homebirth, Natalia chose to walk an even more radical path with her second—preparing to give birth without medical support, while bombs dropped around her and sirens became part of daily life.

What’s most striking is that on the day her son was born, the chaos paused. For the first time in weeks, there was silence. A stillness descended over her city, allowing Natalia to give birth in a sacred bubble of peace amidst the war. A divine mercy.

We speak candidly about what it was like to prepare for a physiological birth during trauma and survival mode. We explore how she tended to herself postpartum while navigating a broken system that refused to acknowledge her birth. We talk about stopping her hemorrhage, the bureaucratic battle to register her baby, and the heartbreaking search for breast milk when her body struggled to produce.

This conversation is a living testament to maternal instinct, spiritual resilience, and the unshakable power of sovereign birth—even in the most unimaginable of circumstances.

We’re closing out an incredible Season 5 with Molly from France. After an unexpected pregnancy at a young age, Molly describes her traumatic birth with her first daughter as a "a second rape".

She suffered physically, mentally, and emotionally, and promised herself she'd never give birth in a hospital again. With her second pregnancy, she dreamed of a freebirth, and with her third, she brought her dream to fruition-after removing herself from the spiral of medical pathology, and choosing a peaceful pregnancy. This week, we have Emily, a former Labor & Delivery nurse turned freebirthing-mother! After starting nursing school when she was pregnant with her first daughter, Emily quickly realized that licensure and hospital policies trump all else, and advocating for your patients can only go so far. After her birth with her second son, she removed herself from the medical system altogether, and went on to have a wild pregnancy and a (surprise breech!) freebirth with her third.

Today, I'm talking with Anna from Sweden. As an RH negative, first-time mom, Anna was swept up in the fearmongering and control of the hospital system. Despite having what she thought at the time was a "natural" hospital birth, she entered motherhood feeling alone.

As she started questioning everything that had happened during her birth, she found freebirth! With her second daughter, Anna went from questioning everything, to knowing what to do as she brought her into the world, surrounded by family and love.

How deep can birth take you when you fully surrender to the mystery?



In this episode, I sit down with Mimilia—mother of four and a recent graduate of our MatriBirth Mentor Institute. Her story is a breathtaking journey through four radically different births, each one deepening her trust, sharpening her discernment, and calling her closer to truth.

Today on the show, I'm talking with my friend Vivian about birth as a catalyst for deep maturation. With her first baby, Vivian had a medicalized birth, and although she freebirthed her second son, she brought him into the hospital two days postpartum. She left (eleven days later) with a commitment to do things differently the next time around. Vivian's third birth was powerful and glorious, and she speaks about how it even healed her relationship with her own mother.

Davana's pregnancy with her first son was a wake up call to the consequences of trusting in a system that doesn't serve women. After a traumatizing and unnecessary surgical birth, she found the fire within her to say "never again" and chose the guidance of her inner voice above all.

Today on the show, we have my friend Angeli, from Canada. Angeli was pregnant during the Radical Birth Keeper School, and over the twelve weeks, her pregnancy and her business transformed in many ways. Angeli tells the story of her life as a rugged, woodland goddess living with her lover in a yurt with her two dogs- birthing and living in alignment with life.

Her journey of placing absolute trust in her body resulted in a ritualistic and ceremonial freebirth. Now a radical birth keeper, Angeli has the embodied experience of a powerful birth that she brings to all of the birthing women she serves in her community.

After a traumatic induction with her first baby, Ash was certain she was done having children. But what she came to realize was that it wasn’t birth she was finished with—it was the hospital.
