Episode 58 Dan Ramey

Épisode 58

mardi 7 décembre 2021Durée 49:27

I am excited to have Dan Ramey as a Great Dude in Fraud today.  This episode includes everything from how women and men differ in embezzlement aka pink collar crime, how Dan is constantly adding to his arsenal of fraud knowledge, think crypto, and so much more.  Dan is a big podcast listener and we compare notes on various podcasts.  Dan Ramey Forensic Accountant; Expert Witness; Conference Speaker; Forensic Accounting & ERM Professor and all things fraud.  Dan is a mentor and more importantly a friend to me.  His wealth of experience and knowledge make him a thought leader in the fraud world.  We talk about creativity and embezzlement, crypto and fraud, podcasts, Enron, Rita Crundwell, Collin Street Bakery.  This is another great Great Women in Fraud podcast with a leader in the field.  This past week I took some time to enjoy the holidays but I was able to listen to a lot of podcasts while traveling. Number one crazy was Swindled Episode 74, The OB-GYN.  You must listen.  Truly.  It made me so angry at how this went on for so long. Women’s health and profiting from it.  Wow.  I never could have imagined.  I’m also continuing to listen to Bad Blood the Final Frontier.  The Elizabeth Holmes trial is getting to the home stretch. I really have no idea how it will go.  A friend posted a Washington Post opinion piece, Women can be evil too.  With Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial and Elizabeth Holmes ongoing it seems that women are getting some ink so to speak.  It starts out: Two villainesses have captured the nation’s attention from the courtroom this week. Or is that two victims?  An interesting read for sure.  Let’s get started with Dan’s interview.  Show Notes:https://www.linkedin.com/in/danramey/https://twitter.com/danrameycpahttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/bad-bets/id1588735104https://www.abebooks.com/https://swindledpodcast.com/podcasts/season-5/74-the-obgyn/https://www.threeuncannyfour.com/show/bad-blood/https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/11/30/elizabeth-holmes-ghislaine-maxwell-trial-feminism/

Episode 57 Craig Stanland

Épisode 57

mardi 23 novembre 2021Durée 45:46

This is going to be a short week for a lot of people and you might be traveling. What a perfect time to get caught up on podcasts!  We have Craig Stanland, A Great Dude in Fraud, for our guests.  You know I like to interview people who have been on the other side so to speak.  I am picky however and really want to hear the personal side of their experiences.  Craig does a wonderful job of his personal experience and has written about it in his book, Blank Canvas.  Link in the show notes.  The book is so incredibly personal.  We were connected by Jeff Grant who you have listened to in episode 39.  This past week I took a much-needed break and got to read and listen to podcasts at a beautiful beach. A new podcast I am listening to is The Criminology Academy.  Sally Simpson was a guest on episode 32.  I hope to have her on this podcast. Such interesting work and she used to live in Oregon!  Also, episode 30 with Wim Huisman was fantastic.  The ACFE Nashville chapter made my day by including Great Women in Fraud as one of their Top 5 podcasts.  What an honor.  Stay tuned to Bad Blood the Final Frontier because Elizabeth Holmes is testifying this week.  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Let’s get started. https://www.linkedin.com/in/craigstanland/https://www.craigstanland.com/https://www.craigstanland.com/https://www.ted.com/talks/craig_stanland_how_i_learned_my_greatest_worth_in_federal_prisonhttps://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58156566-blank-canvas

Episode 56 Mariel Klosterman

Épisode 56

mardi 16 novembre 2021Durée 33:34

Mariel Klosterman is a student at Dakota State University. She is a Cybersecurity Researcher | Speaker | Information Security up and comer.  She recently won the Open Source Rising Star at OSMOSIS 2021.  Learn about her career and the dos and don’ts of sock puppets.  Sock Puppets?  Thinking Muppets.  Nope.  Today we have the pleasure of a rising star in the field of OSINT.  Mariel Klosterman.  She just received the Open Source Rising Star of the Year at OSMOSIS 2021.  That is such an honor.  I truly wish I had been so focused when I was her age.  She is a pleasure to have as a guest.  You will learn a lot not only about her but also the do’s and don’ts of sock puppets.  I definitely got some tips. This week I listened to Adam Grant interview Indra Nooyi, the former CEO of Pepsi.  Initially, I was not interested in her book because I saw tweets about her saying Ex Pepsi CEO Indra Nooyi claims she's "never, ever, ever" asked for a pay rise and finds the idea 'cringeworthy'.  I found that to be tone-deaf.  But when I dug further and listened to her talk with Adam Grant I completely changed my mind.  Not about the raise but about her. She is incredibly well-spoken, thoughtful, and is continuing to learn.  She is very interested in data analytics.  I have linked to the interview in the show notes.  Her life story and career path is just so interesting.  https://www.linkedin.com/in/marielklosterman/https://twitter.com/agentsandstonehttps://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/taken-for-granted-indra-nooyi-wants-us-to-reimagine/id1346314086?i=1000539774996https://www.osmosiscon.com/

Episode 55 Cristina Revelo, Deputy Director Corporate Monitoring and Compliance Services at Affiliated Monitors, Inc.

Épisode 55

mardi 9 novembre 2021Durée 33:01

Another great woman in Fraud today is Cristina Revelo.  We “met” through Jay Rosen.  What a small world we live in.  I love Cristina’s story because she has done so much in her career already but she is not afraid to try new things.  What is a monitorship, you ask?  I like to call it time out for corporations.  Listen to a much better definition of it from Cristina.  The thing is that monitorships will be increasing. That just came out of the White Collar Crime Conference in Miami in October.  I have included the link in the shownotes. From Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco: Of course, the decision to use monitors must also include consideration of how the monitorship is administered and the standards by which monitors are expected to do their work. And the selection of monitors will continue to be accomplished in a fashion that eliminates even the perception of favoritism. The department will study how we select corporate monitors, including whether to standardize our selection process across the divisions and offices.” As to what I listened to last week it was a lot but one podcast really stood out to me. Hidden Brain Work 2.0 The Obstacles You Don’t See.  Organizational Psychologist Loran Nordgren was a guest.   When the last time you bought a new sofa did it take you longer to buy it because you didn’t know what or how you were going to get rid of your old sofa.  This is a real problem.  The story of Beach House was fascinating.  Fuel and Friction got me thinking about why so many victims don’t go to law enforcement.  We need to remove the friction for our clients.  Take a listen.  And I ordered Nordgren’s new book, The Human Element: Overcoming the Resistance That Awaits New Ideas.  Podcasts cost me money.  So many books to read after listening to guests.  Let’s get listening to Cristina. https://www.linkedin.com/in/cristinarevelo/https://www.affiliatedmonitors.com/cristina-revelo/https://www.justice.gov/opa/speech/deputy-attorney-general-lisa-o-monaco-gives-keynote-address-abas-36th-national-institute

Episode 53 What Is Kelly Listening To?

Épisode 53

This episode is about what Kelly is currently listening to.  It is a mix-up of crime, tech, current events, compliance, ethics, and behavioral science.  Podcasts add so much to my work life and my personal life.  Podcasts take you to a place we normally couldn’t go to regularly.  Listening to bigwigs, career advice, branding advice, sales advice.  Whatever you want or need I bet you can find it on a podcast.  So this episode gives you an idea of which podcasts I regularly listen to.  I would love to hear which podcasts you listen to and why.  Links to podcasts and episodes mentioned:https://twitter.com/PivotPodhttps://podcasts.voxmedia.com/show/pivothttps://twitter.com/SwindledPodcasthttps://swindledpodcast.com/https://swindledpodcast.com/podcasts/season-5/69-the-scheme/https://swindledpodcast.com/podcasts/bonus/25-the-beach-house-sheriff/https://swindledpodcast.com/podcasts/season-5/65-the-bakery/https://swindledpodcast.com/podcasts/season-4/54-the-barefoot-bandit/https://swindledpodcast.com/podcasts/season-1/02-the-horse-queen/https://twitter.com/abbyellinhttps://medium.com/ear-worthy/second-season-of-impostors-the-commander-releases-two-new-episodes-16b8e08fe218https://twitter.com/JohnCarreyrouhttps://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/episode-7-the-advia-project/id1575738174?i=1000533010665https://twitter.com/wforensicshttps://www.workmanforensics.com/the-podcasthttps://www.corporatecomplianceinsights.com/great-women-in-compliance/https://open.spotify.com/show/5SkCfcTUOiKidkKcY22TD5https://twitter.com/thebrainybizhttps://thebrainybusiness.com/podcast/https://twitter.com/HumanRiskLtdhttps://www.human-risk.com/https://twitter.com/behavioralgroovhttps://behavioralgrooves.com/
