She also addresses the two main ways that children process information: globally (seeing the big picture), and analytically (thriving on the detail). She gives advice on how you can motivate a strong-willed child based on their learning style, and how to help an underachiever find a system that works for them in a classroom setting. Cynthia stresses the importance of recognizing that every child is different and the need for parent’s to accept their child when their learning style differs from their own.

Parents can often face the teen years with fear because we often don’t fully know or understand what struggles our teens are facing and we know the consequences of their decisions and behaviors can be devastating. Jodie Berndt experienced all of these same challenges with her teens and has identified many scriptures that parents can pray over their teens regarding specific issues like friendships, peer pressure, dating, sex, temptation, social media, prodigals, etc. She addresses how to navigate conflict with your teen and how to trust God for your teen’s future instead of trying to put the burden of their success on yourself. Jodie also describes her own struggles with friendships when she was a teenager, and why parents must avoid turning fears and worries about your teen into an idol – where you focus more on what-if outcomes rather than trust God.

Infidelity can rip a marriage apart — and it’s hard to imagine a betrayal more painful than finding out your spouse is involved with someone else. Josh and Katie Walters share the story of Katie’s affair with the husband of their good friend couple, and how Katie vacillated for quite a while, torn between doing the right thing (ending the affair) and still feeling love for the other man. Meanwhile, Josh was convinced by God that divorce was wrong and he needed to love Katie as Christ loves the Church, which meant pushing through the pain and hoping against hope to rescue his marriage. Josh and Katie have developed an acronym — S.T.A.Y. — for struggling couples. "S" stands for "Start with me," or taking ownership of your own sin and mistakes instead of blaming your spouse. They also address “T” — “Take quitting off of the table,” and Katie shares a story of making a vow to the Lord of “You can have my feet,” which meant she still wasn’t sure about her love/marriage with Josh, but she wouldn’t be going anywhere.

Trust is the oxygen of all human relationships. But it’s also what trips us up after we’ve been burned. When tragic situations occur, you may be wondering, “If God can let this happen, can He be trusted?” Lysa TerKeurst believes building and rebuilding trust isn’t simply about finding better people to walk with; it’s about developing stability within and with God so you don’t become cynical and carry a broken belief system into every new relationship. Based on her new book I Want to Trust You, But I Don’t, Lysa explores eleven relational red flags – the difference between discernment and triggers, trusting God when you struggle with painful outcomes, trusting God when people hurt you and get away with it, the secret to healing, and more.
