Filmexplorer took advantage of the film curator Leonardo Bigazzi’s presence in Nyon in the Jury of the section “Burning Lights” at Visions du Réel 2023 in order to discuss with him several topics that equally mark Filmexplorer’s profile, from the art-cinema interface to the notion of expanded cinema, and the tasks of festivals today.

Philippe Ciompi is a renowned sound designer and editor who insists on the importance of going beyond a compartmental approach to film production. Good sound editing starts with grasping the global significance of the film project.

Beatrice Gibson recognises the influence of the modernist approach to composition in her artistic work. Showing the architecture of a composition becomes part of the film language, for which the concentration on editing will clearly be of enormous importance.
