Clara Bow: Part 106 Feb 202301:22:33

We here at FHHF thought it was about damn time we cover someone in film history that wasn’t a dude! Who better to bring the feminine energy we needed for this show than the original “It Girl” herself: Clara Bow!

One of the biggest stars of the silent era who paved the way for women in Hollywood.

Clara owned her sexuality before the Code was put in place and rocked the world as the first sex symbol.

In this first part of her saga we cover her early life, and it was certainly a dark time for young Clara.

Warning, we will be covering some nasty topics such as "SA" and more.

Gather the family around the radio, pour a glass of something, and listen to us tell her story right here on FILM HISTORY: THE HISTORY OF FILM

Avatar wasn't just a very expensive film that made a lot of money, it also revolutionized many of the technical aspects of filmmaking and pioneered the way we shoot CGI for films. There's also an incredibly large amount of things that James Cameron shot and never intended to actually use. The story of the making of this film continues to be one of the most fascinating things that we have covered on the show. So sit back and relax to some Film History: The History Of Film!!!

Psycho01 Dec 202201:30:20

We’re ending off our Extended Spooky Season right with one of the most iconic horror films ever spawned!

Against all odds and with very little studio support, in 1960 Alfred Hitchcock set off with a shoe string budget from his own pocket and crafted one of the finest films in Film History: the History of Film - “Psycho” starring Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh working for much less than their normal fees.

This film broke the mold and set the tone for not only countless horror films to come but just film in general.

Thank you all for celebrating Halloween with us throughout November, after this we’ll get real Christmassy!

Also thank you all for making us one of the top 10 percent of followed podcasts in the world!! We love you!

Hollywood Cults Part 2 (Ft. Nick Fazekas)12 Nov 202200:48:09

On Part 2 of Hollywood Cults, we get a bit more recent and discuss NXIVM but then throw back to one of the most iconic cults of all time: Earth’s Away Team themselves - Heaven’s Gate! We also discuss how cults can be more myopic, and that cult mentality can develop in a very confined space such as a celebrity’s entourage or people on their payroll, etc. We also managed to freak out special guest Nick Fazekas, so I’d say we covered our bases! The New Modern Magic16 Oct 202200:45:04

A curveball of an episode! While Dev faced true horror running from Hurricanes in Florida, Drake and James went way way back in time to the 1890s!

Around 30 years after the Civil War and a few years before Arthur Morgan robbed Blackwater, a famous magician named Marie-Georges-Jean Méliès was in his backyard experimenting with a new medium for his sourcery: the film camera.

These films are considered the very first horror films among many other firsts for the moving pictures!

Also we talk about train crashes! Spooky!

Oppenheimer is out and we want to shamelessly capitalize on the hype! 1947 - 2 years after the actual bombs dropped - 76 years before Christopher Nolan would nuke the world with “Oppenheimer” - a film called “The Beginning or the End” was unleashed upon the world. A collaboration between MGM and the Armed Forces Special Weapons Project, along with the guidance of the men who actually worked on the Manhattan Project including Oppenheimer himself, this film is presented in a docudrama style and unfolds the story of the development and deployment of the atomic bomb! So put on your special goggles, hold a bag of uncooked popcorn in the air, and prepare to become death - the destroyer of worlds! Marlon Brando Part 2: The Broadway Years31 Aug 202201:28:38

It's Brando Part 2, his years on Broadway. We talk all about method acting and stuff... I don't know, James usually writes these episode descriptions... and I'm really tired. So this is the description for now. James, please change this when you wake up... I feel like there is a "Chrissy wake up, I don't like this" joke in there somewhere. Marlon Brando Part 1: Make Me An Artist17 Aug 202201:05:31

You knew this one was coming!! Who better to start the next year of FH:HF than the Man Himself, a God of the Great White Way and the silver screen, the king of method acting, Marlon Brando. One of the most influential movie stars in the history of moving pictures, Marlon Brando brought cinema into modern times.

Since this is part 1, we’ll begin with his early years as a child growing up in the quiet dirt of Nebraska, riding his motorcycle through the hallways of his high school, longing for the attention of his stern father and picking his mother up off the floor of the local bar after her nightly imbibing!
