How do you tell if someone is a narcissist?19 Aug 202400:40:24

Spotting a narcissist isn't as straightforward as we'd like—it’s not like they wear a sign that says "Stay Away!" The overuse of the word "narcissist" in society often dilutes the experiences of true victims, making it harder to recognize genuine narcissistic abuse. The emotional scars left by these toxic individuals are profound, and the mere thought of encountering another narcissist can be terrifying.  So how do you tell if the person in front of you is someone you can take at face value  or if they're someone who is manipulating you? When you have been in a relationship with a narcissist, you want to know how to protect yourself. You 'fell for it' once, and you know what narcissistic abuse does to you, and you want the heads up so it NEVER happens to you again!

In this episode we unpack....
* Can you easily spot a narcissist?
* What sort of narcissist are you more likely to recognise immediately?
* How do you take precautions when you're not sure if they're a narcissist?
* What signs should you look out for when you're unsure if they're a narcissist?
* Do narcissists always reveal themselves straight away?
And much, much more!

Will a Narcissist treat the next person better?04 Aug 202400:39:48

After everything the narcissist put you through, seeing them seemingly happier, more affectionate, or even more committed to someone else can feel like a dagger to the heart. One of the most painful and confusing questions survivors of narcissistic abuse often ask is: “Will the narcissist treat the next person better?” And it’s no wonder —

In this episode of Fake Love and Flying Monkeys, I break down the truth behind the narcissist’s new relationship and explain why things may look different on the surface, but the cycle of abuse remains the same underneath. We explore the real purpose behind the narcissist’s “glow up” with the new supply — whether it's love bombing, flaunting their relationship online, or suddenly becoming the person you wanted them to be when you were with them.

You’ll learn:

  • Why narcissists appear to move on quickly (hint: they never really stop looking for supply)
  • How the new person is often being used as a tool to hurt you
  • What really goes on behind closed doors in the narcissist’s new relationship
  • The painful truth about why they’re “treating the next one better” — and why it won’t last

If you’ve ever caught yourself spiralling with self-doubt, comparing yourself to the new partner, or wondering if you were the problem — this episode will validate your experience and empower you to stay focused on your healing.

“The narcissist didn’t love them more. They just loved how much it hurt you.

Reporting Your Abuse to the Police - With Police Detective Brandon Wootan 01 Aug 202400:57:10

An understanding of coercive Control, domestic violence, and narcissistic abuse are not issues that the average person associates with police. Historically, discrimination, racism, and domestic violence stereotypes suggest the police 'have no idea' and take the situation in front of their domestic violence call out, for what it seems.

In this episode I discuss with Detective Police Officer Brandon Wootan the gaps in helping victims of domestic violence, not only with the first call from the victim,  but an understanding, empathic response that validates the victim’s trauma and helps them to realise a better and more worthy ffuture.
(Apologies for the audio quality! There was no capacity whatsoever to reduce noise reduction. The discussion however, between myself and Brandon on the other side of the world will be worth it!)

In this episode we unpack....

*   The strategies they use to devalue you that you don't recognise at the time.
*   What devaluing strategies does the narcissist use? Eg. Isolation, Gaslighting and financial abuse.
*   Is the devaluing stage inevitable?
*   How do you as the victim, fall for their devaluation strategies?
*   How do you recognise the times you are being devalued?
