Everyday Faith with Kate & Matt Parker12 Nov 202500:47:22

Kate and Matt believe they are normal people. Matt knows how to slot motorway bridges into place and Kate is a medical engineer who can juggle twins. Their super power is that they are trying to reach neighbours, colleagues and not-yet-friends with the good news of Jesus.

We hear the stories of frightening five year olds doing forceful evangelism and little one's praying over friends in the classroom. There is a ton of top tips including Amy saying it's alright just to sob at the school gate, Kate finding a better use for the class WhatsApp group and Matt being bold every Monday morning.

In short, none of them are confident, but all of them are trusting Jesus to bring the miracles. We can all be normal families who bumble along taking every opportunity for the King.

Doing Halloween for Christ with Nay Dawson 29 Oct 202500:37:54

Join Ed, Amy and Nay Dawson as they talk through a Christian approach to Halloween for parents. We can use Halloween as an opportunity to talk to our children about fearless faith, living distinctively and loving generously. It is also the one time when our community knocks on our door. How can we love them, offer them something of Christ without compromising our deep conviction that Christ is the light of the world?

People:

Ed Drew - Director of Faith in Kids
Amy Smith – Writer for Faith in Kids
Nay Dawson - Nay is the founder of Passion for Evangelism. PfE exists to empower, encourage, and equip women to share the good news of Jesus with God-given confidence and creativity.

Quote from Nay:

“It may well be that we don’t trick or treat ourselves. My two daughters get really scared of that kind of stuff. But we were so busy last year. All we were doing was constantly filling up this box to give away ‘gift bags of light’. If you’re unconvinced, go back to Scripture to see what is says about being light of the world, and if Jesus is the light of the world, we have this incredible opportunity to bring light into darkness and point to the light on this dark night.”

If you have any questions or comments, please get in touch with us at podcast@faithinkids.org. Genuinely, we love hearing from folks, and helps us feel less like we are speaking into the void - do send us a friendly hello on email or socials, it might just make our day!

Who am I? #5 | Parenting Boys. Parenting Girls.19 Oct 202200:47:41

"Are boys different from girls?”
We probably begin answering that question confidently - then start to feel a little anxious, back out and decide to avoid the topic.

On this Faith in Parents episode Matt Fuller, Gen Johnston and Ed Drew tackle the topic together and help us wrap our heads around what the Bible says.
We also hear from Andrew Bunt.

Our “Who am I?” series of resources aims to equip churches and families to open up conversations about identity, join in the conversation.

If you've listened to this and want to know more about gender identity, you can start by listening to another one of our podcasts which speaks into this topic. Find that here.

Matt Fuller:  Matt is the Senior Minister of Christ Church Mayfair. He is married to Ceri. They are very grateful to God for their teenage son, who will imminently flee the nest. He was on the staff of the church when it was planted in January 2001 and has had the enormous pleasure of seeing many people trust in Christ and grow in their faith during this time. He is the author of numerous books including  ‘Be true to yourself’.

Gen Johnston: Genevieve is on the staff team at Dundonald Church helping the pastors to think through how as a church we disciple or deploy the women in our church in ministry. She’s married to Johnno, they have three teenage daughters and a beloved dog.

Ed Drew, the Director of Faith in Kids grounds the conversation in how we would parent / care for younger primary, upper primary / secondary school children and their families facing these struggles.

If you have any questions or comments, please get in touch with us at podcast@faithinkids.org. We won't read out your emails on the podcast if you don't want us to, but we'd love to hear your stories and feedback.

Who am I? #4 | Lost and Found05 Oct 202200:51:51

Would you still love me if…?
How easy is it to come clean about our mistakes?
Do your kids find it hard to apologise?  What about you?

Perhaps you’re more of an older brother in the story of the lost son, depending on your own performance as if God’s love has to be earned.  Or a younger brother who fears they’ve gone too far as if God’s love can be lost.

Join in a helpfully practical conversation that tackles both of these identity struggles with Ed Drew, Graham Beynon, and Karen Sleeman.

Ed Drew - the Director of Faith in Kids grounds the conversation in how we would parent / care for younger primary, upper primary / secondary school children and their families facing these struggles.

Karen Sleeman - is the pastoral associate for families in her local church and enjoys working with parents, children and adolescents. She has completed the BCUK intern Scheme and has training in child and adolescent mental health and is working towards accreditation as a family therapist.

Dr Graham Beynon - is the pastor of Grace Church, Cambridge, and Director of Independent Ministry Training at Oak Hill. He is the author of a number of books including Mirror Mirror, Emotions: Living Life in Colour (2012, IVP), God’s New Community: New Testament Patterns for Today’s Church (2005, IVP), Planting for the Gospel: a hands on guide to church planting (2011, Christian Focus) and Isaac Watts: His Life and Thought (2013, Christian Focus). He is married to Charis and they have three children. In his spare time he enjoys watching TV with his wife, walking with their dog, trying his hand at DIY, watching sport and playing 5-a-side football.

Whatever your family's experience, join in the conversation that encourages parents, reduces panic, builds confidence, offers helpful language and reminds us of the simple rock solid principles God gives.

Keeping Faith in the Busyness of Life with Tim and Hannah09 Jul 202500:42:33

In this episode, Ed sits around the kitchen table with Tim and Hannah to ask: What’s it like to be a busy Christian parent?

Spoiler alert: It’s a bit overwhelming. And a bit joyful. And often both at once.

Tim and Hannah’s home is full - three kids, a Labrador, a Ukrainian house guest, an Airbnb, and 20 teenagers round every Sunday night. Life is busy, but this episode isn’t about burnout - it’s about how Jesus meets us in the middle of the chaos.

They share what it means to say no to good things, to fiercely guard Saturdays, and to prioritise what lasts: a relationship with Jesus. Tim reflects on the challenge of self-reliance, and how faith often feels distant - until God shows up in the unexpected moments, like a car ride or a chat at church.

From Bible times that fall apart to sticker-covered Bibles that suddenly work, it’s a reminder that we’re not failing parents just because we feel like we are - because God hasn’t let go of us, or our children.

Tea in a Tree with Al Gordon28 Jun 202200:47:14

Gods creations is beautifully full with His creativity! This interactive episode helps us to explore what God has made in art and all things creative. Join the team as they chat with Al, an artist who explores creation whilst having tea in a tree with his daughter. Listen in on the fun!

Parenting often feels like, “wake, eat, sleep, repeat”, so memories and traditions feel like gold dust.

Create a special moment before you return to the routine in January. Light a candle or a fire. Make hot drinks or cold milkshakes. Offer cake or marshmallows. Give the time to the Lord, out loud or in your heart, asking that he would use your efforts.
