There's an unspoken delicacy of non-verbal communication that travels through skin: Tattooing. In my rainy-shadowed living room sits Carlos Velasquez, my dearly admired tattooist and friend. In the short span of a year knowing each other, we've gone through over 16 tattoo moments (and counting), immersed conversations, spellbinding music and musings. Our conversations here today echo those in the rooms we've sat in, encompassing his journey to becoming a tattoo artist, the art of persistence, the allure of nowness and a lot of shared laugher. The beauty of the unknown makes everything ten times more exciting, and I'm happy to have Carlos here to explore that with you and I together.
