Ex-psychic Jenn Nizza, who regularly speaks on the spiritual dangers of the occult, is warning about the growing prevalence of “manifesting” within the church. “It’s infiltrating the church,” Jenn Nizza proclaims on this episode of the “Ex-Psychic Saved Podcast,” noting she embraced manifesting when she worked as a medium. “I fell into it and started believing it, and then I taught it as well.” Manifesting, which the New Age movement calls the law of attraction, is essentially the belief people can will or make certain things happen in their lives. As Crosswalk notes, “It is the belief that positive or negative thoughts bring positive or negative experiences into your life. It says that thoughts are energy; and energy can attract similar energies to itself because there is an attractive magnetic pattern to the universe.” Nizza sat down with Emily Massey of WeWouldRatherHaveJesus.com, to discuss this issue and its presence within Christian circles and to warn that the “name it and claim it” mentality amounts to “idolatry.” Massey noted culture is dominated by crystals and other tools that mainstream this type of spiritual practice. As for her own experience in the Word of Faith movement, she said there was an intense focus on the power of words. “For me, as far as the practice was concerned, everything came back to not only the positive thinking … but it goes beyond that to where it affects your speech,” she explained of her own past experience with manifesting. “You have to guard your speech … you must … speak out these positive, what they would call confessions.” It all came down to not “sowing” negative words, believing these words would have a certain power after being spoken. “It’s that whole — ‘Don't, don't, don't speak it, don't claim it … we have to be careful with our words because they can be manifest into reality,’” Massey said. What’s the difference between psychic mediumship and prophecy? That’s a question former medium Jenn Nizza asks on this episode of the “Ex-Psychic Saved Podcast,” sitting down with Pastor Jim Osman to break it all down. Osman started by differentiating between those pretending to be able to engage in divination — the process of seeking information about the future through supernatural means — and those who receive such information through genuine evil. While some are frauds, he said not everyone falls under that category. Some people truly are receiving communications from the demonic. “The Bible does warn against mediums and spiritists and divination and all kinds of connections with the occult and the spiritual realm in the Old Testament as well as in the New Testament,” Osman said. “And the Bible warns about it because the connection that people who are psychics have is a very real connection to a very real thing. There is a real spiritual realm.” As the pastor noted, this is a realm Christians are told to avoid at all costs, labeling these forces as “deceptive” and “demonic.” He said these forces have the ability to influence and bring information into the human realm, using mediums and spirits for that purpose. These psychics and others might believe they are connecting with God or even “gods” but he said they have “no idea what they’re playing with.” As for prophets, Osman said the Bible is clear these individuals have existed, differentiating them from psychics by the source of the information they received. “There are genuine prophets in the Old Testament and in the New Testament times,” he said. “I don't believe that there are genuine prophets today in the biblical sense, but those people who did speak for God in the Old Testament and the New Testament had prophetic abilities because they were vehicles or instruments of revelation that God gave regarding the future, sometimes just simply applying truth in the lives of the people.” Osman wasn’t done there either, offering another line to try and explain the difference between psychics and prophets: “A prophet is one who speaks from God. A psychic would be one who speaks for the devil, or is giving you information that comes from the spiritual realm that is not from God.” He and Nizza also addressed modern-day claims of prophecy, explaining potential theories on what they believe could be unfolding. On this episode of the “Ex-Psychic Saved Podcast,” Jenn welcomes ex-astrologer Marcia Montenegro to the show to discuss horoscopes, divination, and the many ways people turn to sources outside of God to try and find “truth.” “[Divination is] when you’re seeking information supernaturally, but outside of God, outside of God’s will,” Jenn explained at the start of the show. “God absolutely condemns it.” Montenegro agreed, noting divination is an attempt to get information “beyond the normal means,” and said this can take the form of turning to Tarot cards, astrology, numerology, and teal leaf reading, among other practices. She went on to speak about the fact that some will try to use the Bible to validate astrology or act as though using the stars and celestial signs to predict the future somehow comports with the Gospel. “A lot of Christians…get confused over it,” Montenegro said, going on to explain why astrology and the Bible don’t mix and how to clarify the differences between astrology and astronomy. “Astrology and astronomy are two different things. Astronomy is a science and it’s based on observation of data. They are observing the heavenly bodies … and it’s strictly concerned with facts and trying to figure things out about those heavenly bodies.” She continued. “Astrology is focused on the idea that there’s a meaning there.” As a former professional astrologer, she recounted being so “in” on her astrological beliefs that she once wouldn’t sign an apartment lease while mercury was in retrograde, fearing what might happen if she did. Today, Montenegro is a Christian who pushes back against the beliefs she once held dear. “What astrology is … it’s a form of divination, because you're reading a meaning into the planets that isn’t there,” she said. “Astrology … looks kind of innocent to a lot of people because it’s so common … the internet has made this information more accessible.” But Montenegro explains exactly why it’s anything but innocent.

It’s a remarkable turnaround that came after Virtue read the Bible and finally saw the evils of the occult. “I'm devastated that some people may be in hell now because they were following my work,” she said on the “Ex-Psychic Saved” podcast. “It's heartbreaking every day to realize my old work’s out there and what I did.” But Virtue relies on the Lord, telling host Jenn Nizza she’s grateful for God opening her eyes and heart to the Gospel and saving her “while there was still time.” “It's a miracle,” she said. Virtue discussed some of the lies she believed as a child, including the claim she didn’t need to read or trust the Bible, that Jesus was simply a man, and that he was a wish-granter of sorts. As she grew up, she soon found herself doing readings on people, and using angel cards to try and channel spirits to convey information. Eventually, she moved into creating her own angel card decks and found massive success selling them — as well as her popular books — to people in the New Age movement across the globe. “It just became this phenomenon really quickly and I thought it was God's blessing on me,” Virtue said. “I didn't realize that the devil will use people … to further his deception.” She continued, “And so I was being used by the devil, thinking that I was getting rewarded.” By all worldly standards, Virtue had it all: an ocean-front house, nice furniture, and a family.
