How do you keep living when the person you love is slowly dying?
Sariet's husband, Rob, was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) – a devastating condition that gradually took away his ability to move, speak, eat and breathe, all while remaining fully aware.
Faced with an uncertain future, Rob and Sariet made the extraordinary decision to start a family. Their daughter, Maya, was born knowing that the time they had together would be painfully short.
While navigating the sleepless nights and demands of a newborn, Sariet was also caring for her beloved husband as his condition deteriorated. Somehow, she just kept going.
Rob died at just 34 years old, leaving behind his wife and baby daughter. Before his diagnosis, he was young, healthy and at the peak of his physical fitness, with a passion for sport and exercise.
This is a conversation about unimaginable loss, extraordinary love, and the courage to choose positivity in the darkest of moments.
It's also a testament to Rob's remarkable acceptance of his diagnosis and his determination to keep embracing life right until the end. And, of course, to the quiet strength that carried Sariet through it all.
This episode is in loving memory of Rob.
